۱ 1 سرود درجات از داود اگر خداوند با ما نمی بود، اسرائیل الان بگوید؛

A Canticle in steps. If the Lord had not been with us, let Israel now say it:

۲ 2 اگر خداوند با مانمی بود، وقتی که آدمیان با ما مقاومت نمودند،

if the Lord had not been with us, when men rose up against us,

۳ 3 آنگاه هر آینه ما را زنده فرو می‌بردند، چون خشم ایشان بر ما افروخته بود.

perhaps they would have swallowed us alive. When their fury was enraged against us,

۴ 4 آنگاه آبها ما راغرق می‌کرد و نهرها بر جان ما می‌گذشت.

perhaps the waters would have engulfed us.

۵ 5 آنگاه آبهای پر زور، از جان ما می‌گذشت.

Our soul has passed through a torrent. Perhaps, our soul had even passed through intolerable water.

۶ 6 متبارک باد خداوند که ما را شکار برای دندانهای ایشان نساخت.

Blessed is the Lord, who has not given us into the harm of their teeth.

۷ 7 جان ما مثل مرغ از دام صیادان خلاص شد. دام گسسته شد و ما خلاصی یافتیم.

Our soul has been snatched away like a sparrow from the snare of the hunters. The snare has been broken, and we have been freed.

۸ 8 اعانت ما به نام یهوه است، که آسمان وزمین را آفرید.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
