امثال 7
| ای پسر من سخنان مرا نگاه دار، و اوامر مرانزد خود ذخیره نما. | ۱ 1 |
[My] son, keep my words, and hide with thee my commandments. [My] son, honour the Lord, and thou shalt be strong; and fear none but him:
| اوامر مرا نگاه دار تازنده بمانی، و تعلیم مرا مثل مردمک چشم خویش. | ۲ 2 |
keep my commandments, and thou shalt live; and [keep] my words as the pupils of [thine] eyes.
| آنها را بر انگشتهای خود ببند و آنها رابر لوح قلب خود مرقوم دار. | ۳ 3 |
And bind them on thy fingers, and write [them] on the table of thine heart.
| به حکمت بگو که تو خواهر من هستی و فهم را دوست خویش بخوان | ۴ 4 |
Say that wisdom is thy sister, and gain prudence as an acquaintance for thyself;
| تا تو را از زن اجنبی نگاه دارد، و از زن غریبی که سخنان تملق‌آمیز می‌گوید. | ۵ 5 |
that she may keep thee from the strange and wicked woman, if she should assail thee with flattering words.
| زیرا که از دریچه خانه خود نگاه کردم، و ازپشت شبکه خویش. | ۶ 6 |
For she looks from a window out of her house into the streets, at one whom she may see of the senseless ones, a young man void of understanding,
| در میان جاهلان دیدم، ودر میان جوانان، جوانی ناقص العقل مشاهده نمودم، | ۷ 7 |
passing by the corner in the passages near her house,
| که در کوچه بسوی گوشه او می‌گذشت. و به راه خانه وی می‌رفت، | ۸ 8 |
and speaking, in the dark of the evening,
| در شام در حین زوال روز، در سیاهی شب و در ظلمت غلیظ، | ۹ 9 |
when there happens [to be] the stillness of night and of darkness:
| که اینک زنی به استقبال وی می‌آمد، در لباس زانیه ودر خباثت دل. | ۱۰ 10 |
and the woman meets him having the appearance of a harlot, that causes the hearts of young men to flutter.
| زنی یاوه‌گو و سرکش که پایهایش در خانه‌اش قرار نمی گیرد. | ۱۱ 11 |
And she is fickle, and debauched, and her feet abide not at home.
| گاهی درکوچه‌ها و گاهی در شوارع عام، و نزد هر گوشه‌ای در کمین می‌باشد. | ۱۲ 12 |
For at one time she wanders without, and at [another] time she lies in wait in the streets, at every corner.
| پس او را بگرفت و بوسید وچهره خود را بی‌حیا ساخته، او را گفت: | ۱۳ 13 |
Then she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said to him,
| «نزدمن ذبایح سلامتی است، زیرا که امروز نذرهای خود را وفا نمودم. | ۱۴ 14 |
I have a peace-offering; today I pay my vows:
| از این جهت به استقبال توبیرون آمدم، تا روی تو را به سعی تمام بطلبم وحال تو را یافتم. | ۱۵ 15 |
therefore I came forth to meet thee, desiring thy face; [and] I have found thee.
| بر بستر خود دوشکهاگسترانیده‌ام، با دیباها از کتان مصری. | ۱۶ 16 |
I have spread my bed with sheets, and I have covered it with double tapestry from Egypt.
| بسترخود را با مر و عود و سلیخه معطر ساخته‌ام. | ۱۷ 17 |
I have sprinkled my couch with saffron, and my house with cinnamon.
| بیاتا صبح از عشق سیر شویم، و خویشتن را ازمحبت خرم سازیم. | ۱۸ 18 |
Come, and let us enjoy love until the morning; come, and let us embrace in love.
| زیرا صاحبخانه در خانه نیست، و سفر دور رفته است. | ۱۹ 19 |
For my husband is not at home, but is gone on a long journey,
| کیسه نقره‌ای به‌دست گرفته و تا روز بدر تمام مراجعت نخواهدنمود.» | ۲۰ 20 |
having taken in his hand a bundle of money: after many days he will return to his house.
| پس او را از زیادتی سخنانش فریفته کرد، واز تملق لبهایش او را اغوا نمود. | ۲۱ 21 |
So with much converse she prevailed on him to go astray, and with the snares of her lips forced him from [the right path].
| در ساعت ازعقب او مثل گاوی که به سلاخ خانه می‌رود، روانه شد و مانند احمق به زنجیرهای قصاص. | ۲۲ 22 |
And he followed her, being gently led on, and [that] as an ox is led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a hart shot in the liver with an arrow:
| تا تیر به جگرش فرو رود، مثل گنجشکی که به دام می‌شتابد و نمی داند که به خطر جان خود می‌رود. | ۲۳ 23 |
and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for [his] life.
| پس حال‌ای پسران مرا بشنوید، و به سخنان دهانم توجه نمایید. | ۲۴ 24 |
Now then, [my] son, hearken to me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
| دل تو به راههایش مایل نشود، و به طریقهایش گمراه مشو، | ۲۵ 25 |
Let not thine heart turn aside to her ways:
| زیراکه او بسیاری را مجروح‌انداخته است، و جمیع کشتگانش زورآورانند. | ۲۶ 26 |
for she has wounded and cast down many, and those whom she has slain are innumerable.
