امثال 31

۱ 1 کلام لموئیل پادشاه، پیغامی که مادرش به او تعلیم داد.

The words of king Lamuel. The vision by which his mother instructed him:

۲ 2 چه گویم‌ای پسر من، چه گویم‌ای پسر رحم من! و چه گویم‌ای پسر نذرهای من!

“What, O my beloved? What, O beloved of my womb? What, O beloved of my vows?

۳ 3 قوت خود را به زنان مده، و نه طریقهای خویش را به آنچه باعث هلاکت پادشاهان است.

Do not give your substance to women, or your riches to overthrow kings.

۴ 4 پادشاهان را نمی شاید‌ای لموئیل، پادشاهان را نمی شاید که شراب بنوشند، و نه امیران را که مسکرات را بخواهند.

Not to kings, O Lamuel, not to kings give wine. For there are no secrets where drunkenness reigns.

۵ 5 مبادا بنوشند و فرایض را فراموش کنند، وداوری جمیع ذلیلان را منحرف سازند.

And perhaps they may drink and forget judgments, and alter the case of the sons of the poor.

۶ 6 مسکرات را به آنانی که مشرف به هلاکتندبده. و شراب را به تلخ جانان،

Give strong drink to the grieving, and wine to those who are bitter in soul.

۷ 7 تا بنوشند و فقر خود را فراموش کنند، ومشقت خویش را دیگر بیاد نیاورند.

Let them drink, and forget their needs, and remember their sorrow no more.

۸ 8 دهان خود را برای گنگان باز کن، و برای دادرسی جمیع بیچارگان.

Open your mouth for the mute and for all the cases of the sons who are passing through.

۹ 9 دهان خود را باز کرده، به انصاف داوری نما، و فقیر و مسکین را دادرسی فرما.

Open your mouth, declare what is just, and do justice to the indigent and the poor.

۱۰ 10 زن صالحه را کیست که پیدا تواند کرد؟ قیمت او از لعلها گرانتر است.

Who shall find a strong woman? Far away, and from the furthest parts, is her price.

۱۱ 11 دل شوهرش بر او اعتماد دارد، و محتاج منفعت نخواهد بود.

The heart of her husband confides in her, and he will not be deprived of spoils.

۱۲ 12 برایش تمامی روزهای عمر خود، خوبی خواهد کرد و نه بدی.

She will repay him with good, and not evil, all the days of her life.

۱۳ 13 پشم و کتان را می‌جوید. و به‌دستهای خودبا رغبت کار می‌کند.

She has sought wool and flax, and she has worked these by the counsel of her hands.

۱۴ 14 او مثل کشتیهای تجار است، که خوراک خود را از دور می‌آورد.

She has become like a merchant’s ship, bringing her bread from far away.

۱۵ 15 وقتی که هنوز شب است برمی خیزد، و به اهل خانه‌اش خوراک و به کنیزانش حصه ایشان را می دهد.

And she has risen in the night, and given a prey to her household, and provisions to her maids.

۱۶ 16 درباره مزرعه فکر کرده، آن را می‌خرد، و ازکسب دستهای خود تاکستان غرس می‌نماید.

She has considered a field and bought it. From the fruit of her own hands, she has planted a vineyard.

۱۷ 17 کمر خود را با قوت می‌بندد، و بازوهای خویش را قوی می‌سازد.

She has wrapped her waist with fortitude, and she has strengthened her arm.

۱۸ 18 تجارت خود را می‌بیند که نیکو است، وچراغش در شب خاموش نمی شود.

She has tasted and seen that her tasks are good; her lamp shall not be extinguished at night.

۱۹ 19 دستهای خود را به دوک دراز می‌کند، وانگشتهایش چرخ را می‌گیرد.

She has put her hand to strong things, and her fingers have taken hold of the spindle.

۲۰ 20 کفهای خود را برای فقیران مبسوطمی سازد، و دستهای خویش را برای مسکینان دراز می‌نماید.

She has opened her hand to the needy, and she has extended her hands to the poor.

۲۱ 21 به جهت اهل خانه‌اش از برف نمی ترسد، زیرا که جمیع اهل خانه او به اطلس ملبس هستند.

She shall not fear, in the cold of snow, for her household. For all those of her household have been clothed two-fold.

۲۲ 22 برای خود اسبابهای زینت می‌سازد. لباسش از کتان نازک و ارغوان می‌باشد.

She has made embroidered clothing for herself. Fine linen and purple is her garment.

۲۳ 23 شوهرش در دربارها معروف می‌باشد، و در میان مشایخ ولایت می‌نشیند.

Her husband is noble at the gates, when he sits among the senators of the land.

۲۴ 24 جامه های کتان ساخته آنها را می‌فروشد، وکمربندها به تاجران می‌دهد.

She has made finely woven cloth and sold it, and she has delivered a waistband to the Canaanite.

۲۵ 25 قوت و عزت، لباس او است، و درباره وقت آینده می‌خندد.

Strength and elegance are her clothing, and she will laugh in the final days.

۲۶ 26 دهان خود را به حکمت می‌گشاید، و تعلیم محبت‌آمیز بر زبان وی است.

She has opened her mouth to wisdom, and the law of clemency is on her tongue.

۲۷ 27 به رفتار اهل خانه خود متوجه می‌شود، وخوراک کاهلی نمی خورد.

She has considered the paths of her household, and she has not eaten her bread in idleness.

۲۸ 28 پسرانش برخاسته، او را خوشحال می‌گویند، و شوهرش نیز او را می‌ستاید.

Her sons rose up and predicted great happiness; her husband rose up and praised her.

۲۹ 29 دختران بسیار اعمال صالحه نمودند، اما توبر جمیع ایشان برتری داری.

Many daughters have gathered together riches; you have surpassed them all.

۳۰ 30 جمال، فریبنده و زیبایی، باطل است، اما زنی که از خداوند می‌ترسد ممدوح خواهدشد.

Charm is false, and beauty is vain. The woman who fears the Lord, the same shall be praised.

۳۱ 31 وی را از ثمره دستهایش بدهید و اعمالش او را نزد دروازه‌ها بستاید.

Give to her from the fruit of her own hands. And let her works praise her at the gates.
