امثال 12

۱ 1 هر‌که تادیب را دوست می‌دارد معرفت را دوست می‌دارد، اما هر‌که از تنبیه نفرت کند وحشی است.

Those who want to know [what is right to do] want to be (disciplined/corrected) when they do what is wrong; it is foolish to not want to be (corrected/told that what you did is wrong).

۲ 2 مرد نیکو رضامندی خداوند را تحصیل می‌نماید، اما او صاحب تدبیر فاسد را ملزم خواهد ساخت.

Yahweh is pleased with good people, but he condemns those who plan to harm [others].

۳ 3 انسان از بدی استوار نمی شود، اما ریشه عادلان جنبش نخواهد خورد.

People do not become secure/safe by doing what is wicked; righteous [people] will be very safe and secure [LIT] like [MET] a tree that has deep roots.

۴ 4 زن صالحه تاج شوهر خود می‌باشد، اما زنی که خجل سازد مثل پوسیدگی در استخوانهایش می‌باشد.

A good wife is one who causes her husband to be greatly honored, but a wife who does things that cause her husband to be ashamed [will destroy him] like [SIM] cancer [destroys] his bones.

۵ 5 فکرهای عادلان انصاف است، اما تدابیرشریران فریب است.

What righteous [people] want to do is [to treat people] fairly; what wicked [people] want to do is to deceive people.

۶ 6 سخنان شریران برای خون در کمین است، اما دهان راستان ایشان را رهایی می‌دهد.

What wicked [people] say is like a trap [MET] that kills [MTY] people [who pass by], but what righteous [people] say [MTY] rescues those whom [wicked people threaten to harm].

۷ 7 شریران واژگون شده، نیست می‌شوند، اماخانه عادلان برقرار می‌ماند.

Wicked [people] will die [before they become old and we will see] them no more, but righteous people will live [for many years] and have many descendants.

۸ 8 انسان برحسب عقلش ممدوح می‌شود، اماکج دلان خجل خواهند گشت.

[People will] praise those who have good sense, but [people will] despise those (who are always thinking about doing evil things/whose thinking is twisted).

۹ 9 کسی‌که حقیر باشد و خادم داشته باشد، بهتراست از کسی‌که خویشتن را برافرازد و محتاج نان باشد.

It is better to be a humble/ordinary person who has only one servant than to think that you are very important while you have nothing to eat.

۱۰ 10 مرد عادل برای جان حیوان خود تفکرمی کند، اما رحمتهای شریران ستم کیشی است.

Righteous people take care of their domestic animals, but wicked people act cruelly [toward their animals].

۱۱ 11 کسی‌که زمین خود را زرع کند از نان سیرخواهد شد، اما هر‌که اباطیل را پیروی نمایدناقص العقل است.

Farmers who work hard in their fields will [produce good crops] that will give them plenty to eat, but those who waste their time working on worthless projects are foolish.

۱۲ 12 مرد شریر به شکار بدکاران طمع می‌ورزد، اما ریشه عادلان میوه می‌آورد.

Wicked [people] desire to take away what [other] evil people have, but [Yahweh] enables righteous/godly [people] to be steadfast and productive [MET].

۱۳ 13 در تقصیر لبها دام مهلک است، اما مردعادل از تنگی بیرون می‌آید.

Evil people are trapped by the evil things that they say [MTY], but righteous [people] escape from trouble.

۱۴ 14 انسان از ثمره دهان خود از نیکویی سیرمی شود، و مکافات دست انسان به او رد خواهدشد.

People are rewarded for [the good things] that they say [to others], and people are [also] rewarded for the good work that they do [MTY].

۱۵ 15 راه احمق در نظر خودش راست است، اماهر‌که نصیحت را بشنود حکیم است.

Foolish people [always] think that what they are doing is right; wise people heed [other people when they give them good] advice.

۱۶ 16 غضب احمق فور آشکار می‌شود، اماخردمند خجالت را می‌پوشاند.

Foolish people quickly become angry when someone does something that they don’t like; but those who have good sense ignore it when others insult them.

۱۷ 17 هر‌که به راستی تنطق نماید عدالت را ظاهرمی کند، و شاهد دروغ، فریب را.

[In the courtroom], honest people say what is true, but untruthful/dishonest people tell [nothing but] lies.

۱۸ 18 هستند که مثل ضرب شمشیر حرفهای باطل می‌زنند، اما زبان حکیمان شفا می‌بخشد.

What some people say [hurts people badly], as much as [SIM] a sword can; but what wise [people] say (heals [others’ souls]/comforts others).

۱۹ 19 لب راستگو تا به ابد استوار می‌ماند، اما زبان دروغگو طرفه العینی است.

When people tell [MTY] lies, others soon realize that what they said is not true [IDM]; but when people say what is true, others will remember that forever.

۲۰ 20 در دل هر‌که تدبیر فاسد کند فریب است، اما مشورت دهندگان صلح را شادمانی است.

Those who plan to do what is evil are always wanting to deceive [others], but things will go well for those who plan [to do] good things.

۲۱ 21 هیچ بدی به مرد صالح واقع نمی شود، اماشریران از بلا پر خواهند شد.

Bad things [usually] [HYP] do not happen to righteous [people], but wicked [people] always have troubles.

۲۲ 22 لبهای دروغگو نزد خداوند مکروه است، اما عاملان راستی پسندیده او هستند.

Yahweh detests those [MTY] who tell lies, but he is delighted with those who faithfully do what they promise that they will do.

۲۳ 23 مرد زیرک علم را مخفی می‌دارد، اما دل احمقان حماقت را شایع می‌سازد.

Those with good sense do not reveal [all] that they know; foolish people show [clearly] by what they say that they (are ignorant/have not learned much).

۲۴ 24 دست شخص زرنگ سلطنت خواهدنمود، اما مرد کاهل بندگی خواهد کرد.

Those [SYN] who work hard become rulers [of others]; those who are lazy become slaves [of others.]

۲۵ 25 کدورت دل انسان، او را منحنی می‌سازد، اما سخن نیکو او را شادمان خواهد گردانید.

When people are anxious/worried, they become depressed/dejected, but when others speak kindly to them, it causes them to be cheerful again.

۲۶ 26 مرد عادل برای همسایه خود هادی می‌شود، اما راه شریران ایشان را گمراه می‌کند.

Godly/Righteous people try to [give good advice to] their friends (OR, try to make friends with others), but the manner in which wicked [people] live misleads their friends.

۲۷ 27 مرد کاهل شکار خود را بریان نمی کند، امازرنگی، توانگری گرانبهای انسان است.

Lazy people do not even [cook the meat of] the animals that they catch/kill, but those who work hard will acquire (OR, are like) a valuable treasure.

۲۸ 28 در طریق عدالت حیات‌است، و درگذرگاههایش موت نیست.

Those who (live righteously/continually do what is right) are [walking] on the road to a long life; (it is not a road to death/they will not die when they are still young).
