| امثال سلیمان: پسر حکیم پدر خود رامسرور می‌سازد، اما پسر احمق باعث حزن مادرش می‌شود. | ۱ 1 |
The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
| گنجهای شرارت منفعت ندارد، اما عدالت از موت رهایی می‌دهد. | ۲ 2 |
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; But righteousness delivereth from death.
| خداوند جان مرد عادل را نمی گذارد گرسنه بشود، اما آرزوی شریران را باطل می‌سازد. | ۳ 3 |
Jehovah will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish; But he thrusteth away the desire of the wicked.
| کسی‌که به‌دست سست کار می‌کند فقیرمی گردد، اما دست چابک غنی می‌سازد. | ۴ 4 |
He becometh poor that worketh with a slack hand; But the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
| کسی‌که در تابستان جمع کند پسر عاقل است، اما کسی‌که در موسم حصاد می‌خوابد، پسر شرم‌آورنده است. | ۵ 5 |
He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; [But] he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
| بر سر عادلان برکت‌ها است، اما ظلم دهان شریران را می‌پوشاند. | ۶ 6 |
Blessings are upon the head of the righteous; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
| یادگار عادلان مبارک است، اما اسم شریران خواهد گندید. | ۷ 7 |
The memory of the righteous is blessed; But the name of the wicked shall rot.
| دانادل، احکام را قبول می‌کند، اما احمق پرگو تلف خواهد شد. | ۸ 8 |
The wise in heart will receive commandments; But a prating fool shall fall.
| کسی‌که به راستی راه رود، در امنیت سالک گردد، و کسی‌که راه خود را کج می‌سازد آشکارخواهد شد. | ۹ 9 |
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely; But he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
| هر‌که چشمک می‌زند الم می‌رساند، امااحمق پرگو تلف می‌شود. | ۱۰ 10 |
He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow; But a prating fool shall fall.
| دهان عادلان چشمه حیات‌است، اما ظلم دهان شریران را می‌پوشاند. | ۱۱ 11 |
The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
| بغض نزاعها می‌انگیزاند، اما محبت هر گناه را مستور می‌سازد. | ۱۲ 12 |
Hatred stirreth up strifes; But love covereth all transgressions.
| در لبهای فطانت پیشگان حکمت یافت می‌شود، اما چوب به جهت پشت مردناقص العقل است. | ۱۳ 13 |
In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found; But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
| حکیمان علم را ذخیره می‌کنند، اما دهان احمق نزدیک به هلاکت است. | ۱۴ 14 |
Wise men lay up knowledge; But the mouth of the foolish is a present destruction.
| اموال دولتمندان شهر حصاردار ایشان می‌باشد، اما بینوایی فقیران هلاکت ایشان است. | ۱۵ 15 |
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
| عمل مرد عادل مودی به حیات‌است، امامحصول شریر به گناه می‌انجامد. | ۱۶ 16 |
The labor of the righteous [tendeth] to life; The increase of the wicked, to sin.
| کسی‌که تادیب را نگاه دارد در طریق حیات‌است، اما کسی‌که تنبیه را ترک نماید گمراه می‌شود. | ۱۷ 17 |
He is in the way of life that heedeth correction; But he that forsaketh reproof erreth.
| کسی‌که بغض را می‌پوشاند دروغگومی باشد. کسی‌که بهتان را شیوع دهد احمق است. | ۱۸ 18 |
He that hideth hatred is of lying lips; And he that uttereth a slander is a fool.
| کثرت کلام از گناه خالی نمی باشد، اما آنکه لبهایش را ضبط نماید عاقل است. | ۱۹ 19 |
In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; But he that refraineth his lips doeth wisely.
| زبان عادلان نقره خالص است، اما دل شریران لاشی ء می‌باشد. | ۲۰ 20 |
The tongue of the righteous is [as] choice silver: The heart of the wicked is little worth.
| لبهای عادلان بسیاری را رعایت می‌کند، اما احمقان از بی‌عقلی می‌میرند. | ۲۱ 21 |
The lips of the righteous feed many; But the foolish die for lack of understanding.
| برکت خداوند دولتمند می‌سازد، و هیچ زحمت بر آن نمی افزاید. | ۲۲ 22 |
The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich; And he addeth no sorrow therewith.
| جاهل در عمل بد اهتزاز دارد، و صاحب فطانت در حکمت. | ۲۳ 23 |
It is as sport to a fool to do wickedness; And [so is] wisdom to a man of understanding.
| خوف شریران به ایشان می‌رسد، و آرزوی عادلان به ایشان عطا خواهد شد. | ۲۴ 24 |
The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him; And the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
| مثل گذشتن گردباد، شریر نابود می‌شود، امامرد عادل بنیاد جاودانی است. | ۲۵ 25 |
When the whirlwind passeth, the wicked is no more; But the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
| چنانکه سرکه برای دندان و دود برای چشمان است، همچنین است مرد کاهل برای آنانی که او را می‌فرستند. | ۲۶ 26 |
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, So is the sluggard to them that send him.
| ترس خداوند عمر را طویل می‌سازد، اماسالهای شریران کوتاه خواهد شد. | ۲۷ 27 |
The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
| انتظار عادلان شادمانی است، اما امیدشریران ضایع خواهد شد. | ۲۸ 28 |
The hope of the righteous [shall be] gladness; But the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
| طریق خداوند به جهت کاملان قلعه است، اما به جهت عاملان شر هلاکت می‌باشد. | ۲۹ 29 |
The way of Jehovah is a stronghold to the upright; But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
| مرد عادل هرگز متحرک نخواهد شد، اماشریران در زمین ساکن نخواهند گشت. | ۳۰ 30 |
The righteous shall never be removed; But the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
| دهان صدیقان حکمت را می‌رویاند، امازبان دروغگویان از ریشه‌کنده خواهد شد. | ۳۱ 31 |
The mouth of the righteous bringeth forth wisdom; But the perverse tongue shall be cut off.
| لبهای عادلان به امور مرضیه عارف است، اما دهان شریران پر از دروغ‌ها است. | ۳۲ 32 |
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable; But the mouth of the wicked [speaketh] perverseness.
