اعداد 35

۱ 1 و خداوند موسی را در عربات موآب نزد اردن در مقابل اریحا خطاب کرده، گفت:

And Yahweh spake unto Moses in the waste plains of Moab, —by Jordan, near Jericho, saying:

۲ 2 «بنی‌اسرائیل را امر فرما که از نصیب ملک خود شهرها برای سکونت به لاویان بدهند، ونواحی شهرها را از اطراف آنها به لاویان بدهید.

Command the sons of Israel, that they give unto the Levites—out of the inheritance which they possess—cities to dwell in, —pasture land also unto the cities, round about them, shall ye give unto the Levites.

۳ 3 و شهرها بجهت سکونت ایشان باشد، و نواحی آنها برای بهایم و اموال و سایر حیوانات ایشان باشد.

So shall the cities be theirs, to dwell in, —and their pasture lands, shall, be for their cattle and for their goods and for all their beasts.

۴ 4 و نواحی شهرها که به لاویان بدهید ازدیوار شهر بیرون از هر طرف هزار ذراع باشد.

And, the pasture lands of the cities which ye shall give unto the Levite, shall be, —from the wall of the city, and outwards, a thousand cubits round about

۵ 5 واز بیرون شهر به طرف مشرق دو هزار ذراع، و به طرف جنوب دو هزار ذراع، و به طرف مغرب دوهزار ذراع، و به طرف شمال دو هزار ذراع بپیمایید. و شهر در وسط باشد و این نواحی شهرها برای ایشان خواهد بود.

So ye shall measure—on the outside of the city—the eastward quarter two thousand by the cubit, and the south quarter two thousand by the cubit, and the west quarter two thousand by the cubit and the north quarter two thousand by the cubit, with, the city, in the midst. This, shall be unto them the pasture lands of the cities,

۶ 6 «و از شهرها که به لاویان بدهید شش شهرملجا خواهد بود، و آنها را برای قاتل بدهید تا به آنجا فرار کند و سوای آنها چهل و دو شهربدهید.

And, among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall be the six cities of refuge, which ye shall give that the manslayer may flee thither, —and besides them, ye shall give, forty-two cities,

۷ 7 پس جمیع شهرها که به لاویان خواهیدداد چهل و هشت شهر با نواحی آنها خواهد بود.

All the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall be forty-eight cities, —them, and their pasture lands,

۸ 8 و اما شهرهایی که از ملک بنی‌اسرائیل می‌دهیداز کثیر، کثیر و از قلیل، قلیل بگیرید. هر کس به اندازه نصیب خود که یافته باشد از شهرهای خودبه لاویان بدهد.»

And as touching the cities which ye shall give out of the possession of the sons of Israel from the many, shall ye take many, and from the few, shall ye take few, —each, according to his inheritance, which they shall inherit, shall give of his cities unto the Levites.

۹ 9 و خداوند موسی را خطاب کرده، گفت:

Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:

۱۰ 10 «بنی‌اسرائیل را خطاب کرده، به ایشان بگو: چون شما از اردن به زمین کنعان عبور کنید،

Speak unto the sons of Israel, and thou shalt say unto them, —When ye are passing over the Jordan unto the land of Canaan,

۱۱ 11 آنگاه شهرها برای خود تعیین کنید تا شهرهای ملجا برای شما باشد، تا هر قاتلی که شخصی راسهو کشته باشد، به آنجا فرار کند.

then shall ye find for you, convenient cities, cities of refuge, shall they be unto you, —and the manslayer, who hath slain a person, by mistake, shall flee thither.

۱۲ 12 و این شهرها برای شما بجهت ملجا از ولی مقتول خواهد بود، تا قاتل پیش از آنکه به حضورجماعت برای داوری بایستد، نمیرد.

So shall the cities serve you for places of refuge from the redeemer, —that the manslayer may not die, until he has stood before the assembly, for judgment,

۱۳ 13 «و از شهرهایی که می‌دهید، شش شهرملجا برای شما باشد.

And as touching the cities which ye shall give six cities of refuge, shall there be unto you.

۱۴ 14 سه شهر از آنطرف اردن بدهید، و سه شهر در زمین کنعان بدهید تاشهرهای ملجا باشد.

Three of the cities, shall ye give, on this side the Jordan, and three of the cities, shall ye give in the land of Canaan, —cities of refuge, shall they be.

۱۵ 15 بجهت بنی‌اسرائیل وغریب و کسی‌که در میان شما وطن گزیند، این شش شهر برای ملجا باشد تا هر‌که شخصی راسهو کشته باشد به آنجا فرار کند.

For the sons of Israel and for the sojourner. and for the settler in your midst, shall these six cities serve, as places of refuge, —that any one may flee thither who hath slain a person, by mistake.

۱۶ 16 «و اگر او را به آلت آهنین زد که مرد، او قاتل است و قاتل البته کشته شود.

If, then, with an instrument of iron, he smote him, and he died, a manslayer, he is, —a manslayer, shall surely die.

۱۷ 17 و اگر او را بادست خود به سنگی که از آن کسی کشته شود، بزند تا بمیرد، او قاتل است و قاتل البته کشته شود.

Or if with a stone thrown by hand, where-by one might die, he smote him and he died, a manslayer, he is, —the man-slayer, shall surely die,

۱۸ 18 و اگر او را به چوب دستی که به آن کسی کشته شود، بزند تا بمیرد، او قاتل است و قاتل البته کشته شود.

Or, if with hand-weapon of wood, wherewith one might die, he smote him and he died a manslayer, he is, —the manslayer shall surely die.

۱۹ 19 ولی خون، خود، قاتل رابکشد. هرگاه به او برخورد، او را بکشد.

The blood-redeemer, he, shall put to death the man-slayer, —when he lighteth upon him, he, shall put him to death.

۲۰ 20 و اگراز روی بغض او را با تیغ زد یا قصد چیزی بر اوانداخت که مرد،

Or if with hate, he shall thrust at him, or hurl at him designedly, and he have died,

۲۱ 21 یا از روی عداوت او را بادست خود زد که مرد، آن زننده چون که قاتل است البته کشته شود، ولی خون هرگاه به قاتل برخورد، او را بکشد.

or if with enmity, he hath smitten him with his hand and he is dead, then shall he that dealt the blow, be surely put to death. a manslayer, he is—the blood-redeemer shall put to death the man-slayer, when he lighteth upon him.

۲۲ 22 «لیکن اگر او را بدون عداوت سهو تیغ زندیا چیزی بدون قصد بر او اندازد،

But if suddenly, without enmity, he shall thrust him, or hurl upon him any missile, without design;

۲۳ 23 و اگر سنگی را که کسی به آن کشته شود نادیده بر او بیندازد که بمیرد و با وی دشمنی نداشته، و بداندیش اونبوده باشد،

Or with any stone whereby one might die without seeing him, and it fall upon him, and he dieth; he, not being at enmity with him, nor seeking to harm him,

۲۴ 24 پس جماعت در میان قاتل و ولی خون برحسب این احکام داوری نمایند.

then shall the assembly judge, between him that smote and the blood-redeemer, —according to these regulations;

۲۵ 25 وجماعت، قاتل را از دست ولی خون رهایی دهند، و جماعت، وی را به شهر ملجای او که به آن فرارکرده بود برگردانند، و او در آنجا تا موت رئیس کهنه که به روغن مقدس مسح شده است، ساکن باشد.

and the assembly shall rescue the manslayer out of the hand of the blood-redeemer, and the assembly shall restore him unto his city of refuge whither he had fled, —and he shall dwell therein until the death of the high priest, who hath been anointed with the hallowing oil.

۲۶ 26 و اگر قاتل وقتی از حدود شهر ملجای خود که به آن فرار کرده بود بیرون آید،

But if the man-slayer, go out, of the bounds of his city of refuge, whereinto he hath fled;

۲۷ 27 و ولی خون، او را بیرون حدود شهر ملجایش بیابد، پس ولی خون قاتل را بکشد؛ قصاص خون برای اونشود.

and the blood-redeemer, find him, outside the bounds of his city of refuge, then may the blood-redeemer slay the slayer, without being guilty of blood;

۲۸ 28 زیرا که می‌بایست تا وفات رئیس کهنه در شهر ملجای خود مانده باشد، و بعد ازوفات رئیس کهنه، قاتل به زمین ملک خودبرگردد.

for in his city of refuge, should he have remained, until the death of the high priest, —and, after the death of the high priest, might he have returned into the land which he doth possess.

۲۹ 29 «و این احکام برای شما در قرنهای شما درجمیع مسکنهای شما فریضه عدالتی خواهد بود.

So shall these serve you as a regulative statute unto your generations, —wheresoever ye may dwell.

۳۰ 30 «هر‌که شخصی را بکشد پس قاتل به گواهی شاهدان کشته شود، و یک شاهد برای کشته شدن کسی شهادت ندهد.

Whosoever taketh away life, at the mouth of witnesses, shall, the slayer be slain, —but, one witness, shall not testify against a person, to put him to death.

۳۱ 31 و هیچ فدیه به عوض جان قاتلی که مستوجب قتل است، مگیرید بلکه او البته کشته شود.

And ye shall accept no ransom for the life of him that slayeth, if he have unlawfully caused death, —but he, must surely be put to death.

۳۲ 32 و از کسی‌که به شهر ملجای خود فرار کرده باشد فدیه مگیرید، که پیش از وفات کاهن برگردد و به زمین خودساکن شود.

And ye shall accept no ransom for him that hath fled to his city of refuge, if he should return to dwell in the land before the death of the priest.

۳۳ 33 و زمینی را که در آن ساکنید ملوث مسازید، زیرا که خون، زمین را ملوث می‌کند، وزمین را برای خونی که در آن ریخته شود، کفاره نمی توان کرد مگر به خون کسی‌که آن را ریخته باشد.

So shall ye not pollute the land wherein ye are, for blood, doth pollute the land, and for the land, no propitiatory-covering can be made, as touching blood, that is shed therein, save with the blood of him that shed it;

۳۴ 34 پس زمینی را که شما در آن ساکنید ومن در میان آن ساکن هستم نجس مسازید، زیرا من که یهوه هستم در میان بنی‌اسرائیل ساکن می‌باشم.»

thou must not then make unclean the land wherein, ye, are dwelling, in the midst of which, I, have my habitation; for, I,—Yahweh, am making my habitation in the midst of the sons of Israel.
