سوگنامه 4

۱ 1 چگونه طلا زنگ گرفته و زر خالص منقلب گردیده است؟ سنگهای قدس به‌سر هرکوچه ریخته شده است.

How is the gold become dim! [how] is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out at the head of every street.

۲ 2 چگونه پسران گرانبهای صهیون که به زر ناب برابر می‌بودند مثل ظروف سفالین که عمل دست کوزه‌گر باشد شمرده شده‌اند.

The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

۳ 3 شغالها تیز پستانهای خود را بیرون آورده، بچه های خویش را شیر می‌دهند. اما دختر قوم من مانند شتر مرغ بری، بیرحم گردیده است.

Even the sea-monsters draw out the breast, they nurse their young ones: the daughter of my people [is become] cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.

۴ 4 زبان اطفال شیرخواره از تشنگی به کام ایشان می‌چسبد، و کودکان نان می‌خواهند وکسی به ایشان نمی دهد.

The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, [and] no man breaketh [it] to them.

۵ 5 آنانی که خوراک لذیذ می‌خورند در کوچه ها بینوا گشته‌اند. آنانی که در لباس قرمز تربیت یافته‌اند مزبله‌ها را در آغوش می‌کشند.

They that fed delicately are desolate in the streets: they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.

۶ 6 زیرا که عصیان دختر قوم من از گناه سدوم زیاده است، که در لحظه‌ای واژگون شد و کسی دست بر او ننهاد.

For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.

۷ 7 نذیرگان او از برف، صاف تر و از شیر، سفیدتر بودند. بدن ایشان از لعل سرختر و جلوه ایشان مثل یاقوت کبود بود.

Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing [was] of sapphire:

۸ 8 اما صورت ایشان از سیاهی سیاهتر شده است که در کوچه‌ها شناخته نمی شوند. پوست ایشان به استخوانهایشان چسبیده و خشک شده، مثل چوب گردیده است.

Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.

۹ 9 کشتگان شمشیر از کشتگان گرسنگی بهترند. زیرا که اینان از عدم محصول زمین مجروح شده، کاهیده می‌گردند.

[They that are] slain with the sword are better than [they that are] slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for [want of] the fruits of the field.

۱۰ 10 زنان مهربان، اولاد خود را می‌پزند به‌دستهای خویش. و آنها در هلاکت دختر قوم من غذای ایشان هستند.

The hands of the pitiful women have boiled their own children: they were their food in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

۱۱ 11 خداوند غضب خود را به اتمام رسانیده، حدت خشم خویش را ریخته است، و آتشی درصهیون افروخته که اساس آن را سوزانیده است.

The LORD hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured her foundations.

۱۲ 12 پادشاهان جهان و جمیع سکنه ربع مسکون باور نمی کردند که عدو و دشمن به دروازه های اورشلیم داخل شود.

The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy would have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.

۱۳ 13 به‌سبب گناه انبیا و گناه کاهنانش، که خون عادلان را در اندرونش ریختند.

For the sins of her prophets, [and] the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her.

۱۴ 14 مثل کوران در کوچه‌ها نوان می‌شوند و ازخون نجس شده‌اند، که لباس ایشان را لمس نمی توانند کرد.

They have wandered [as] blind [men] in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.

۱۵ 15 و به ایشان ندا می‌کنند که دور شوید، نجس (هستید)! دور شوید دور شوید و لمس منمایید! چون فرار می‌کردند نوان می‌شدند و در میان امت‌ها می‌گفتند که در اینجا دیگر توقف نخواهند کرد.

They cried to them, Depart ye; [it is] unclean; depart, depart, touch not: when they fled away and wandered, they said among the heathen, They shall no more sojourn [there].

۱۶ 16 خشم خداوند ایشان را پراکنده ساخته وایشان را دیگر منظور نخواهد داشت. به کاهنان ایشان اعتنا نمی کنند و بر مشایخ، رافت ندارند.

The anger of the LORD hath divided them; he will no more regard them: they respected not the persons of the priests, they favored not the elders.

۱۷ 17 چشمان ما تا حال در انتظار اعانت باطل ماکاهیده می‌شود. بر دیده بانگاههای خود انتظارکشیدیم، برای امتی که نجات نمی توانند داد.

As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation [that] could not save [us].

۱۸ 18 قدمهای ما را تعاقب نمودند به حدی که درکوچه های خود راه نمی توانیم رفت. آخرت مانزدیک است و روزهای ما تمام شده زیرا که اجل ما رسیده است.

They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.

۱۹ 19 تعاقب کنندگان ما از عقابهای هواتیزروتراند. ما را بر کوهها تعاقب می‌کنند و برای ما در صحرا کمین می‌گذارند.

Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

۲۰ 20 مسیح خداوند که نفخه بینی ما می‌بود درحفره های ایشان گرفتار شد، که درباره اومی گفتم زیر سایه او در میان امت‌ها، زیست خواهیم نمود.

The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.

۲۱ 21 مسرور باش و شادی کن‌ای دختر ادوم که در زمین عوص ساکن هستی! بر تو نیز این‌جام خواهد رسید و مست شده، عریان خواهی شد.

Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through to thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

۲۲ 22 ‌ای دختر صهیون سزای گناه تو تمام شد وتو را دیگر جلای وطن نخواهد ساخت. ای دخترادوم، عقوبت گناه تو را به تو خواهد رسانید وگناهان تو را کشف خواهد نمود.

The punishment of thy iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thy iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will disclose thy sins.
