ایّوب 23

۱ 1 پس ایوب در جواب گفت:

Then Job answered and said:

۲ 2 «امروز نیز شکایت من تلخ است، وضرب من از ناله من سنگینتر.

Still is my complaint bitter; But my wound is deeper than my groaning.

۳ 3 کاش می‌دانستم که او را کجا یابم، تا آنکه نزد کرسی او بیایم.

O that I knew where I might find him! That I might go before his throne!

۴ 4 آنگاه دعوی خود را به حضور وی ترتیب می‌دادم، ودهان خود را از حجت‌ها پر می‌ساختم.

I would order my cause before him, And fill my mouth with arguments;

۵ 5 سخنانی را که در جواب من می‌گفت می‌دانستم، و آنچه راکه به من می‌گفت می‌فهمیدم.

I should know what he would answer me, And understand what he would say to me.

۶ 6 آیا به عظمت قوت خود با من مخاصمه می‌نمود؟ حاشا! بلکه به من التفات می‌کرد.

Would he contend with me with his mighty power? No! he would have regard to me.

۷ 7 آنگاه مرد راست با اومحاجه می‌نمود و از داور خود تا به ابد نجات می‌یافتم.

Then would an upright man contend with him, And I should be fully acquitted by my judge.

۸ 8 اینک به طرف مشرق می‌روم و اویافت نمی شود و به طرف مغرب و او را نمی بینم.

But, behold, I go eastward, and he is not there; And westward, but I cannot perceive him;

۹ 9 به طرف شمال جایی که او عمل می‌کند، و او رامشاهده نمی کنم. و او خود را به طرف جنوب می‌پوشاند و او را نمی بینم،

To the north, where he worketh, but I cannot behold him; He hideth himself on the south, and I cannot see him.

۱۰ 10 زیرا او طریقی راکه می‌روم می‌داند و چون مرا می‌آزماید، مثل طلابیرون می‌آیم.

But he knoweth the way which is in my heart; When he trieth me, I shall come forth as gold.

۱۱ 11 پایم اثر اقدام او را گرفته است وطریق او را نگاه داشته، از آن تجاوز نمی کنم.

My feet have trodden in his steps; His way I have kept, and have not turned aside from it.

۱۲ 12 از فرمان لبهای وی برنگشتم و سخنان دهان اورا زیاده از رزق خود ذخیره کردم.

I have not neglected the precepts of his lips; Above my own law have I esteemed the words of his mouth.

۱۳ 13 لیکن اوواحد است و کیست که او را برگرداند؟ و آنچه دل او می‌خواهد، به عمل می‌آورد.

But he is of one mind, and who can turn him? And what he desireth, that he doeth.

۱۴ 14 زیرا آنچه را که بر من مقدر شده است بجا می‌آورد، و چیزهای بسیار مثل این نزد وی است.

He performeth that which is appointed for me; And many such things are in his mind!

۱۵ 15 از این جهت ازحضور او هراسان هستم، و چون تفکر می‌نمایم از او می‌ترسم،

Therefore I am in terror on account of him; When I consider, I am afraid of him.

۱۶ 16 زیرا خدا دل مرا ضعیف کرده است، و قادرمطلق مرا هراسان گردانیده.

For God maketh my heart faint; Yea, the Almighty terrifieth me;

۱۷ 17 چونکه پیش از تاریکی منقطع نشدم، و ظلمت غلیظ را از نزد من نپوشانید.

Because I was not taken away before darkness came, And he hath not hidden darkness from mine eyes.
