ارمیا 20

۱ 1 و فشحور بن امیر کاهن که ناظر اول خانه خداوند بود، ارمیا نبی را که به این امورنبوت می‌کرد شنید.

And when Pashhur son of Immer, the priest, who also was deputy-overseer in the house of Yahweh, heard that Jeremiah had prophesied these things,

۲ 2 پس فشحور ارمیای نبی رازده، او را در کنده‌ای که نزد دروازه عالی بنیامین که نزد خانه خداوند بود گذاشت.

then Pashhur smote Jeremiah the prophet, —and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the house of Yahweh.

۳ 3 و در فردای آن روز فشحور ارمیا را از کنده بیرون آورد و ارمیاوی را گفت: «خداوند اسم تو را نه فشحور بلکه ماجور مسابیب خوانده است.

And it came to pass on the morrow, when Pashhur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks, —that Jeremiah said unto him—Not Pashhur, hath Yahweh called thy name, But Magor-missaviv["Terror-round-about"].

۴ 4 زیرا خداوندچنین می‌گوید: اینک من تو را مورث ترس خودت و جمیع دوستانت می‌گردانم و ایشان به شمشیر دشمنان خود خواهند افتاد و چشمانت خواهد دید و تمامی یهودا را به‌دست پادشاه بابل تسلیم خواهم کرد که او ایشان را به بابل به اسیری برده، ایشان را به شمشیر به قتل خواهد رسانید.

For, Thus, saith Yahweh—Behold me! making thee a ["magor" i. e. a] terror to thyself and to all who love thee, and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, thine own eyes also, beholding, And all Judah, will I deliver into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive to Babylon and smite them with the sword.

۵ 5 و تمامی دولت این شهر و تمامی مشقت آن را وجمیع نفایس آن را تسلیم خواهم کرد و همه خزانه های پادشاهان یهودا را به‌دست دشمنان ایشان خواهم سپرد که ایشان را غارت کرده وگرفتار نموده، به بابل خواهند برد.

And I will deliver up—All the wealth of this city, and All her labour, and All her precious things, —And all the treasures of the kings of Judah, will I deliver up into the hands of their enemies, and they will make of them a prey, and take them, and carry them into Babylon.

۶ 6 و تو‌ای فشحور با جمیع سکنه خانه ات به اسیری خواهیدرفت. و تو با جمیع دوستانت که نزد ایشان به دروغ نبوت کردی، به بابل داخل شده، در آنجاخواهید مرد و در آنجا دفن خواهید شد.»

And, thou, Pashhur and all who are dwelling in thy house, shall go into captivity, —Yea into Babylon, shalt thou enter And there, shalt thou die And there, shalt thou be buried Thou and all who love thee, to whom thou hast prophesied falsely.

۷ 7 ‌ای خداوند مرا فریفتی پس فریفته شدم. ازمن زورآورتر بودی و غالب شدی. تمامی روزمضحکه شدم و هر کس مرا استهزا می‌کند.

Thou didst persuade me, O Yahweh and I was persuaded, Thou didst lay firm hold on me and didst prevail, —I am become a mockery, all the day, Every one, is laughing at me.

۸ 8 زیراهر گاه می‌خواهم تکلم نمایم ناله می‌کنم و به ظلم و غارت ندا می‌نمایم. زیرا کلام خداوند تمامی روز برای من موجب عار و استهزا گردیده است.

For, as often as I speak, I make outcry, Violence and wasting, I proclaim, —Yea the word of Yahweh hath become to me a reproach and derision all the day

۹ 9 پس گفتم که او را ذکر نخواهم نمود و بار دیگر به اسم او سخن نخواهم گفت، آنگاه در دل من مثل آتش افروخته شد و در استخوانهایم بسته گردیدو از خودداری خسته شده، باز نتوانستم ایستاد.

Therefore I say—I will not mention him Neither will I speak any more in his name, But then it becometh in my heart as a fire that burneth, Shut up in my bones, —And I am weary of restraint and cannot refrain.

۱۰ 10 زیرا که از بسیاری مذمت شنیدم و از هر جانب خوف بود و جمیع اصدقای من گفتند بر اوشکایت کنید و ما شکایت خواهیم نمود و مراقب لغزیدن من می‌باشند (و می‌گویند) که شاید اوفریفته خواهد شد تا بر وی غالب آمده، انتقام خود را از او بکشیم.

Because I have heard the whispering of many—"A terror round about!" Tell ye [say they], that we may tell of him, All the men I am wont to salute do watch for my halting, —Peradventure he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail over him, and take our vengeance upon him.

۱۱ 11 لیکن خداوند با من مثل جبار قاهر است از این جهت ستمکاران من خواهند لغزید و غالب نخواهند آمد و چونکه به فطانت رفتار ننمودند به رسوایی ابدی که فراموش نخواهند شد بی‌نهایت خجل خواهندگردید.

But, Yahweh, is with me, as a mighty one striking terror, For this cause, shall my persecutors stumble and not prevail, —They have turned very pale, For they have not prospered, Confusion age-abiding, it shall not be forgotten!

۱۲ 12 اما‌ای یهوه صبایوت که عادلان رامی آزمایی و گرده‌ها و دلها را مشاهده می‌کنی، بشود که انتقام تو را از ایشان ببینم زیرا که دعوی خویش را نزد تو کشف نمودم.

But O Yahweh of hosts—Testing the righteous Beholding the affections and the heart, —Let me see thine avenging upon them, For unto thee, have I laid bare my cause.

۱۳ 13 برای خداوندبسرایید و خداوند را تسبیح بخوانید زیرا که جان مسکینان را از دست شریران رهایی داده است.

Sing ye to Yahweh! Praise ye Yahweh! For he hath delivered the soul of the needy, out of the hand of evildoers.

۱۴ 14 ملعون باد روزی که در آن مولود شدم ومبارک مباد روزی که مادرم مرا زایید.

Accursed, be the day on which I was born, —The day when my mother bare me, let it not be blessed!

۱۵ 15 ملعون باد کسی‌که پدر مرا مژده داد و گفت که برای توولد نرینه‌ای زاییده شده است و او را بسیارشادمان گردانید.

Accursed, be the man who carried tidings to my father saying, There is born to thee a man-child!

۱۶ 16 و آنکس مثل شهرهایی که خداوند آنها را شفقت ننموده واژگون ساخت بشود و فریادی در صبح و نعره‌ای در وقت ظهربشنود.

Making him very glad: Yea let that man be—as the cities which Yahweh overthrew and repented not, —And let him hear An outcry in the morning, and A war-shout at broad noon!

۱۷ 17 زیرا که مرا از رحم نکشت تا مادرم قبر من باشد و رحم او همیشه آبستن ماند.

Because I was not slain from the womb, —Nor did my mother become my grave, Nor was her womb great for ever!

۱۸ 18 چرا ازرحم بیرون آمدم تا مشقت و غم را مشاهده نمایم و روزهایم در خجالت تلف شود؟

Wherefore was it—That from the womb, I came forth, to see labour and pain; and That in shame should my days be consumed!
