تثنیه 18

۱ 1 لاویان کهنه و تمامی سبط لاوی راحصه و نصیبی با اسرائیل نباشد.

The priests, the Levites, [and] the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel: Jehovah's offerings by fire, and his inheritance shall they eat,

۲ 2 پس ایشان در میان برادران خود نصیب نخواهندداشت. خداوند نصیب ایشان است، چنانکه به ایشان گفته است.

but they shall have no inheritance among their brethren: Jehovah, he is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.

۳ 3 و حق کاهنان از قوم، یعنی از آنانی که قربانی، خواه از گاو و خواه از گوسفندمی گذرانند، این است که دوش و دو بنا گوش وشکنبه را به کاهن بدهند.

And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that sacrifice a sacrifice, whether ox, or sheep: they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the jawbones, and the maw.

۴ 4 و نوبر غله و شیره وروغن خود و اول چین پشم گوسفند خود را به اوبده،

The firstfruits [also] of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstfruits of the shearing of thy sheep, shalt thou give him;

۵ 5 زیرا که یهوه، خدایت، او را از همه اسباطت برگزیده است، تا او و پسرانش همیشه بایستند و به نام خداوند خدمت نمایند.

for Jehovah thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, that he may stand to serve in the name of Jehovah, he and his sons continually.

۶ 6 و اگر احدی از لاویان از یکی ازدروازه هایت از هر جایی در اسرائیل که در آنجاساکن باشد آمده، به تمامی آرزوی دل خود به مکانی که خداوند برگزیند، برسد،

And if the Levite shall come from one of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourneth, and shall come according to all the desire of his soul unto the place which Jehovah will choose,

۷ 7 پس به نام یهوه خدای خود، مثل سایر برادرانش از لاویانی که در آنجا به حضور خداوند می‌ایستند، خدمت نماید.

and shall serve in the name of Jehovah his God, as all his brethren the Levites that stand there before Jehovah,

۸ 8 حصه های برابر بخورند، سوای آنچه ازارثیت خود بفروشد.

— they shall have like portions to eat, besides that which he hath sold of his patrimony.

۹ 9 چون به زمینی که یهوه، خدایت، به تومی دهد داخل شوی، یاد مگیر که موافق رجاسات آن امتها عمل نمایی.

When thou art come into the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations.

۱۰ 10 و در میان تو کسی یافت نشود که پسر یا دختر خود را از آتش بگذرانند، ونه فالگیر و نه غیب گو و نه افسونگر و نه جادوگر،

There shall not be found among you he that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, that useth divination, that useth auguries, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer,

۱۱ 11 و نه ساحر و نه سوال کننده از اجنه و نه رمال ونه کسی‌که از مردگان مشورت می‌کند.

or a charmer, or one that inquireth of a spirit of Python, or a soothsayer, or one that consulteth the dead.

۱۲ 12 زیرا هرکه این کارها را کند، نزد خداوند مکروه است وبه‌سبب این رجاسات، یهوه، خدایت، آنها را ازحضور تو اخراج می‌کند.

For every one that doeth these things is an abomination to Jehovah, and because of these abominations Jehovah thy God doth dispossess them from before thee.

۱۳ 13 نزد یهوه، خدایت، کامل باش.

Thou shalt be perfect with Jehovah thy God.

۱۴ 14 زیرا این امتهایی که تو آنها را بیرون می‌کنی به غیب گویان و فالگیران گوش می‌گیرند، و اما یهوه، خدایت، تو را نمی گذارد که چنین بکنی.

For these nations, which thou shalt dispossess, hearkened unto those that use auguries, and that use divination; but as for thee, Jehovah thy God hath not suffered thee [to do] so.

۱۵ 15 یهوه، خدایت، نبی‌ای را از میان تو ازبرادرانت، مثل من برای تو مبعوث خواهدگردانید، او را بشنوید.

Jehovah thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him shall ye hearken;

۱۶ 16 موافق هر‌آنچه درحوریب در روز اجتماع از یهوه خدای خودمسالت نموده، گفتی: «آواز یهوه خدای خود رادیگر نشنوم، و این آتش عظیم را دیگر نبینم، مبادابمیرم.»

according to all that thou desiredst of Jehovah thy God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

۱۷ 17 و خداوند به من گفت: «آنچه گفتندنیکو گفتند.

And Jehovah said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.

۱۸ 18 نبی‌ای را برای ایشان از میان برادران ایشان مثل تو مبعوث خواهم کرد، و کلام خود را به دهانش خواهم گذاشت و هر‌آنچه به اوامر فرمایم به ایشان خواهد گفت.

A prophet will I raise up unto them from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

۱۹ 19 و هر کسی‌که سخنان مرا که او به اسم من گوید نشنود، من ازاو مطالبه خواهم کرد.

And it shall come to pass that the man who hearkeneth not unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

۲۰ 20 و اما نبی‌ای که جسارت نموده، به اسم من سخن گوید که به گفتنش امرنفرمودم، یا به اسم خدایان غیر سخن گوید، آن نبی البته کشته شود.»

But the prophet who shall presume to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.

۲۱ 21 و اگر در دل خود گویی: «سخنی را که خداوند نگفته است، چگونه تشخیص نماییم.»

And if thou say in thy heart, How shall we know the word that Jehovah hath not spoken?

۲۲ 22 هنگامی که نبی به اسم خداوند سخن گوید، اگر آن چیز واقع نشود و به انجام نرسد، این امری است که خداوند نگفته است، بلکه آن نبی آن را از روی تکبر گفته است. پس از او نترس.

When a prophet speaketh in the name of Jehovah, and the thing followeth not, nor cometh to pass, that is the word which Jehovah hath not spoken; the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: be not afraid of him.
