عاموس 5

۱ 1 ای خاندان اسرائیل این کلام را که برای مرثیه بر شما می‌خوانم بشنوید.

Hear these words, which I utter concerning you; This lamentation, O house of Israel!

۲ 2 دخترباکره اسرائیل افتاده است و دیگر نخواهدبرخاست. بر زمین خود انداخته شده، و احدی نیست که او را برخیزاند.

She is fallen, she shall rise no more, The virgin of Israel! She is prostrate on her own ground, there is none to raise her up!

۳ 3 زیرا خداوند یهوه چنین می‌گوید: شهری که با هزار نفر بیرون رفت، صد نفر را برای خاندان اسرائیل باقی خواهدداشت و شهری که با صد نفر بیرون رفت، ده نفر راباقی خواهد داشت.

For thus saith the Lord Jehovah; The city which sent out a thousand shall have a hundred left, And that which sent out a hundred shall have ten left, To the house of Israel.

۴ 4 زیرا خداوند به خاندان اسرائیل چنین می‌گوید: مرا بطلبید و زنده بمانید.

For thus saith Jehovah to the house of Israel: Seek ye me, and ye shall live!

۵ 5 اما بیت ئیل را مطلبید و به جلجال داخل مشویدو به بئرشبع مروید، زیرا جلجال البته به اسیری خواهد رفت و بیت ئیل نیست خواهد شد.

Seek not Bethel, And go not to Gilgal, And pass not over to Beersheba! For Gilgal shall surely go into captivity! And Bethel shall come to naught.

۶ 6 خداوند را بطلبید و زنده مانید، مبادا او مثل آتش در خاندان یوسف افروخته شده، بسوزاند وکسی در بیت ئیل نباشد که آن را خاموش کند.

Seek Jehovah, and ye shall live! Lest he rush like a fire on the house of Joseph, And it devour, and there be none to quench it in the house of Israel.

۷ 7 ‌ای شما که انصاف را به افسنتین مبدل می‌سازید و عدالت را به زمین می‌اندازید،

Ye who turn justice into wormwood, And cast righteousness down to the ground.

۸ 8 آن که ثریا و جبار را آفرید و فجر را به سایه موت مبدل ساخت و روز را مثل شب تاریک گردانید وآبهای دریا را خوانده، آنها را بر روی زمین ریخت، یهوه اسم او می‌باشد؛

Seek him, that made the Pleiades and Orion; That changeth death-like darkness into morning, And darkeneth day into night; That calleth up the waters of the sea, And poureth them out upon the face of the earth; Jehovah is his name!

۹ 9 آنکه خرابی را برزورآوران می‌رساند چنانکه خرابی بر قلعه ها وارد می‌آید؛

Who sendeth sudden destruction upon the strong, And bringeth desolation upon the fortress.

۱۰ 10 ایشان از آنانی که در محکمه حکم می‌کنند، نفرت دارند و راستگویان رامکروه می‌دارند.

They hate him that pleadeth in the gate, And abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

۱۱ 11 بنابراین چونکه مسکینان راپایمال کردید و هدایای گندم از ایشان گرفتید، خانه‌ها را از سنگهای تراشیده بنا خواهید نموداما در آنها ساکن نخواهید شد و تاکستانهای دلپسند غرس خواهید نمود و لیکن شراب آنها رانخواهید نوشید.

Since, then, ye trample upon the poor, And take from him presents of wheat, Though ye build houses of hewn stone, ye shall not dwell in them; Though ye plant pleasant vineyards, ye shall not drink their wine.

۱۲ 12 زیرا تقصیرهای شما رامی دانم که بسیار است و گناهان شما را که عظیم می‌باشد، زیرا عادلان را به تنگ می‌آورید و رشوه می‌گیرید و فقیران را در محکمه از حق ایشان منحرف می‌سازید.

For I know that your sins are many, And your transgressions manifold, Ye who afflict the righteous, and take a bribe, And oppress the poor in the gate!

۱۳ 13 لهذا هر‌که عاقل باشد در آن زمان خاموش خواهد ماند زیرا که زمان بد خواهد بود.

Therefore the wise man shall be silent at that time, For it shall be an evil time.

۱۴ 14 نیکویی را بطلبید و نه بدی را تا زنده بمانید وبدین منوال یهوه خدای لشکرها با شما خواهدبود، چنانکه می‌گویید.

Seek ye good, and not evil, that ye may live; Then shall Jehovah, the God of hosts, be with you, as ye boast.

۱۵ 15 از بدی نفرت کنید ونیکویی را دوست دارید و انصاف را در محکمه ثابت نمایید، شاید که یهوه خدای لشکرها بر بقیه یوسف رحمت نماید.

Hate ye evil, and love good, And establish justice in the gate; It may be that Jehovah, the God of hosts, will have pity upon the remnant of Joseph.

۱۶ 16 بنابراین، خداوند یهوه خدای لشکرهاچنین می‌گوید: در همه چهارسوها نوحه گری خواهد بود و در همه کوچه‌ها وای وای خواهندگفت و فلاحان را برای ماتم و آنانی را که مرثیه خوانی آموخته شده‌اند، برای نوحه گری خواهند خواند.

Thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the Lord: In all the streets shall there be wailing, And in all the highways shall they cry, Alas! alas! They shall call the husbandmen to mourning, And those who are skilful in lamentation to wailing,

۱۷ 17 و در همه تاکستانها نوحه گری خواهد بود، زیرا خداوند می‌گوید که من در میان تو عبور خواهم کرد.

And in all vineyards shall be sounds of woe, For I will pass through the midst of thee, saith Jehovah.

۱۸ 18 وای بر شما که مشتاق روز خداوند می‌باشید. روز خداوند برای شماچه خواهد بود؟ تاریکی و نه روشنایی!

Woe unto them that ask for the day of Jehovah! What is the day of Jehovah to you? It shall be darkness, and not light.

۱۹ 19 مثل کسی‌که از شیری فرار کند و خرسی بدو برخورد، یا کسی‌که به خانه داخل شده، دست خود را بردیوار بنهد و ماری او را بگزد.

As if a man fled from a lion, And a bear met him; Or went into a house and leaned his hand on a wall, And a serpent bit him;

۲۰ 20 آیا روز خداوندتاریکی نخواهد بود و نه روشنایی و ظلمت غلیظی که در آن هیچ درخشندگی نباشد؟

So shall the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light, Even thick darkness, and no brightness in it.

۲۱ 21 من از عیدهای شما نفرت و کراهت دارم و(عطر) محفل های مقدس شما را استشمام نخواهم کرد.

I hate, I despise your feasts; I have no delight in your solemn assemblies.

۲۲ 22 و اگر‌چه قربانی های سوختنی وهدایای آردی خود را برای من بگذرانید، آن راقبول نخواهم کرد و ذبایح سلامتی پرواریهای شما را منظور نخواهم داشت.

When ye offer me burnt-offerings and flour-offerings, I will not accept them; And upon the thank-offerings of your fatlings I will not look.

۲۳ 23 آهنگ سرودهای خود را از من دور کن زیرا نغمه بربطهای تو را گوش نخواهم کرد.

Take ye away from me the noise of your songs, And the music of your harps let me not hear!

۲۴ 24 و انصاف مثل آب و عدالت مانند نهر دایمی جاری بشود.

Let justice flow forth as waters, And righteousness as a mighty stream!

۲۵ 25 ‌ای خاندان اسرائیل آیا شما قربانی‌ها و هدایابرای من مدت چهل سال در بیابان گذرانیدید؟

Did ye offer me sacrifices and offerings In the wilderness, for forty years, O house of Israel?

۲۶ 26 نی بلکه خیمه ملکوم خود و تمثال اصنام خویش و کوکب خدایان خود را که به جهت خویشتن ساخته بودید برداشتید.

But ye bore the tabernacle of your king, And the shrine of your images, The star of your god, which ye made for yourselves.

۲۷ 27 پس یهوه که نام او خدای لشکرها می‌باشد، می‌فرماید که من شما را به آن طرف دمشق جلای وطن خواهم ساخت.

Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, Saith Jehovah, whose name is the God of hosts!
