کارهای رسولان 6

۱ 1 و در آن ایام چون شاگردان زیاد شدند، هلینستیان از عبرانیان شکایت بردند که بیوه‌زنان ایشان در خدمت یومیه بی‌بهره می‌ماندند.

Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, a complaint arose from the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily service.

۲ 2 پس آن دوازده، جماعت شاگردان راطلبیده، گفتند: «شایسته نیست که ما کلام خدا راترک کرده، مائده‌ها را خدمت کنیم.

The twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not appropriate for us to forsake the word of God and serve tables.

۳ 3 لهذا‌ای برادران هفت نفر نیک نام و پر از روح‌القدس وحکمت را از میان خود انتخاب کنید تا ایشان را براین مهم بگماریم.

Therefore, select from among you, brothers, seven men of good report, full of the Holy Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

۴ 4 اما ما خود را به عبادت وخدمت کلام خواهیم سپرد.»

But we will continue steadfastly in prayer and in the ministry of the word.”

۵ 5 پس تمام جماعت بدین سخن رضا دادند و استیفان مردی پر از ایمان و روح‌القدس و فیلپس و پروخرس و نیکانور وتیمون و پرمیناس و نیقولاوس جدید، از اهل انطاکیه را انتخاب کرده،

These words pleased the whole multitude. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch,

۶ 6 ایشان را در حضوررسولان برپا بداشتند و دعا کرده، دست بر ایشان گذاشتند.

whom they set before the apostles. When they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

۷ 7 و کلام خدا ترقی نمود و عددشاگردان در اورشلیم بغایت می‌افزود و گروهی عظیم از کهنه مطیع ایمان شدند.

The word of God increased and the number of the disciples greatly multiplied in Jerusalem. A great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

۸ 8 اما استیفان پر از فیض و قوت شده، آیات ومعجزات عظیمه در میان مردم از او ظاهر می‌شد.

Stephen, full of faith and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people.

۹ 9 و تنی چند از کنیسه‌ای که مشهور است به کنیسه لیبرتینیان و قیروانیان و اسکندریان و ازاهل قلیقیا و آسیا برخاسته، با استیفان مباحثه می‌کردند،

But some of those who were of the synagogue called “The Libertines”, and of the Cyrenians, of the Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia arose, disputing with Stephen.

۱۰ 10 و با آن حکمت و روحی که او سخن می‌گفت، یارای مکالمه نداشتند.

They were not able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

۱۱ 11 پس چند نفررا بر این داشتند که بگویند: «این شخص راشنیدیم که به موسی و خدا سخن کفرآمیزمی گفت.»

Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

۱۲ 12 پس قوم و مشایخ و کاتبان راشورانیده، بر سر وی تاختند و او را گرفتار کرده، به مجلس حاضر ساختند.

They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and came against him and seized him, then brought him in to the council,

۱۳ 13 و شهود کذبه برپاداشته، گفتند که «این شخص از گفتن سخن کفرآمیز بر این مکان مقدس و تورات دست برنمی دارد.

and set up false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the law.

۱۴ 14 زیرا او را شنیدیم که می‌گفت این عیسی ناصری این مکان را تباه سازد و رسومی راکه موسی به ما سپرد، تغییر خواهد داد.»

For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us.”

۱۵ 15 و همه کسانی که در مجلس حاضر بودند، بر او چشم دوخته، صورت وی را مثل صورت فرشته دیدند.

All who sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face like it was the face of an angel.
