| و از امفپولس و اپلونیه گذشته، به تسالونیکی رسیدند که در آنجا کنیسه یهود بود. | ۱ 1 |
Now when they had passed through Amphipolis, and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews.
| پس پولس برحسب عادت خود، نزدایشان داخل شده، در سه سبت با ایشان از کتاب مباحثه می‌کرد | ۲ 2 |
And Paul, as his manner was, went in to them, and on three sabbaths reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
| و واضح و مبین می‌ساخت که «لازم بود مسیح زحمت بیند و از مردگان برخیزدو عیسی که خبر او را به شما می‌دهم، این مسیح است.» | ۳ 3 |
Opening and alledging, that it was needful that Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach to you, is Christ.
| و بعضی از ایشان قبول کردند و با پولس و سیلاس متحد شدند و از یونانیان خداترس، گروهی عظیم و از زنان شریف، عددی کثیر. | ۴ 4 |
And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas: and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.
| امایهودیان بی‌ایمان حسد برده، چند نفر اشرار ازبازاریها را برداشته، خلق را جمع کرده، شهر را به شورش آوردند و به خانه یاسون تاخته، خواستندایشان را در میان مردم ببرند. | ۵ 5 |
But the Jews who believed not, moved with envy, took to them certain vile fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city in an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.
| و چون ایشان رانیافتند، یاسون و چند برادر را نزد حکام شهرکشیدند و ندا می‌کردند که «آنانی که ربع مسکون را شورانیده‌اند، حال بدینجا نیزآمده‌اند. | ۶ 6 |
And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren to the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down, have come hither also;
| و یاسون ایشان را پذیرفته است وهمه اینها برخلاف احکام قیصر عمل می‌کنند وقایل بر این هستند که پادشاهی دیگر هست یعنی عیسی.» | ۷ 7 |
Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Cesar, saying, That there is another king, [one] Jesus.
| پس خلق و حکام شهر را ازشنیدن این سخنان مضطرب ساختند | ۸ 8 |
And they troubled the people, and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.
| و ازیاسون و دیگران کفالت گرفته، ایشان را رهاکردند. | ۹ 9 |
And when they had taken security of Jason and of the other, they let them go.
| اما برادران بی‌درنگ در شب پولس وسیلاس را به سوی بیریه روانه کردند و ایشان بدانجا رسیده، به کنیسه یهود درآمدند. | ۱۰ 10 |
And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night to Berea: who coming [thither], went into the synagogue of the Jews.
| و اینهااز اهل تسالونیکی نجیب‌تر بودند، چونکه درکمال رضامندی کلام را پذیرفتند و هر روز کتب را تفتیش می‌نمودند که آیا این همچنین است. | ۱۱ 11 |
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
| پس بسیاری از ایشان ایمان آوردند و از زنان شریف یونانیه و از مردان، جمعی عظیم. | ۱۲ 12 |
Therefore many of them believed; also of honorable women who were Greeks, and of men not a few.
| لیکن چون یهودیان تسالونیکی فهمیدند که پولس در بیریه نیز به کلام خدا موعظه می‌کند، درآنجا هم رفته، خلق را شورانیدند. | ۱۳ 13 |
But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.
| در ساعت برادران پولس را به سوی دریا روانه کردند ولی سیلاس با تیموتاوس در آنجا توقف نمودند. | ۱۴ 14 |
And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul, to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timothy abode there still.
| ورهنمایان پولس او را به اطینا آوردند و حکم برای سیلاس و تیموتاوس گرفته که به زودی هر‌چه تمام تر به نزد او آیند، روانه شدند. | ۱۵ 15 |
And they that conducted Paul brought him to Athens: and receiving a commandment to Silas and Timothy to come to him with all speed, they departed.
| اما چون پولس در اطینا انتظار ایشان رامی کشید، روح او در اندرونش مضطرب گشت چون دید که شهر از بتها پر است. | ۱۶ 16 |
Now, while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.
| پس درکنیسه با یهودیان و خداپرستان و در بازار، هرروزه با هر‌که ملاقات می‌کرد، مباحثه می‌نمود. | ۱۷ 17 |
Therefore he disputed in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.
| اما بعضی از فلاسفه اپیکوریین و رواقیین با اوروبرو شده، بعضی می‌گفتند: «این یاوه‌گو چه می‌خواهد بگوید؟» و دیگران گفتند: «ظاهر واعظ به خدایان غریب است.» زیرا که ایشان را به عیسی و قیامت بشارت می‌داد. | ۱۸ 18 |
Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoics, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? some others, He seemeth to be a setter-forth of strange gods: because he preached to them Jesus, and the resurrection.
| پس او راگرفته، به کوه مریخ بردند و گفتند: «آیا می‌توانیم یافت که این تعلیم تازه‌ای که تو می‌گویی چیست؟ | ۱۹ 19 |
And they took him, and brought him to Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine [is], of which thou speakest?
| چونکه سخنان غریب به گوش مامی رسانی. پس می‌خواهیم بدانیم از اینها چه مقصود است.» | ۲۰ 20 |
For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears; we would know therefore what these things mean.
| اما جمیع اهل اطینا و غربای ساکن آنجا جز برای گفت و شنید درباره چیزهای تازه فراغتی نمی داشتند. | ۲۱ 21 |
(For all the Athenians and strangers who were there, spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)
| پس پولس در وسط کوه مریخ ایستاده، گفت: «ای مردان اطینا، شما را از هر جهت بسیاردیندار یافته‌ام، | ۲۲ 22 |
Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars-hill, and said, [Ye] men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
| زیرا چون سیر کرده، معابدشما را نظاره می‌نمودم، مذبحی یافتم که بر آن، نام خدای ناشناخته نوشته بود. پس آنچه را شماناشناخته می‌پرستید، من به شما اعلام می‌نمایم. | ۲۳ 23 |
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I to you.
| خدایی که جهان و آنچه در آن است آفرید، چونکه او مالک آسمان و زمین است، درهیکلهای ساخته شده به‌دستها ساکن نمی باشد | ۲۴ 24 |
God that made the world, and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
| و از دست مردم خدمت کرده نمی شود که گویامحتاج چیزی باشد، بلکه خود به همگان حیات ونفس و جمیع چیزها می‌بخشد. | ۲۵ 25 |
Neither is worshiped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
| و هر امت انسان را از یک خون ساخت تا بر تمامی روی زمین مسکن گیرند و زمانهای معین و حدودمسکنهای ایشان را مقرر فرمود | ۲۶ 26 |
And hath made of one blood all nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
| تا خدا را طلب کنند که شاید او را تفحص کرده، بیابند، با آنکه ازهیچ‌یکی از ما دور نیست. | ۲۷ 27 |
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he is not far from every one of us:
| زیرا که در او زندگی و حرکت و وجود داریم چنانکه بعضی از شعرای شما نیز گفته‌اند که از نسل او می‌باشیم. | ۲۸ 28 |
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring.
| پس چون از نسل خدا می‌باشیم، نشاید گمان برد که الوهیت شباهت دارد به طلا یا نقره یا سنگ منقوش به صنعت یا مهارت انسان. | ۲۹ 29 |
Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like to gold, or silver, or stone graven by art and man's device.
| پس خدا اززمانهای جهالت چشم پوشیده، الان تمام خلق رادر هر جا حکم می‌فرماید که توبه کنند. | ۳۰ 30 |
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
| زیرا روزی را مقرر فرمود که در آن ربع مسکون را به انصاف داوری خواهد نمود به آن مردی که معین فرمود و همه را دلیل داد به اینکه او را از مردگان برخیزانید.» | ۳۱ 31 |
Because he hath appointed a day, in which he will judge the world in righteousness, by [that] man whom he hath ordained: [of which] he hath given assurance to all [men], in that he hath raised him from the dead.
| چون ذکر قیامت مردگان شنیدند، بعضی استهزا نمودند و بعضی گفتند مرتبه دیگر در این امر از تو خواهیم شنید. | ۳۲ 32 |
And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again concerning this [matter].
| و همچنین پولس ازمیان ایشان بیرون رفت. | ۳۳ 33 |
So Paul departed from among them.
| لیکن چند نفر بدوپیوسته ایمان آوردند که از‌جمله ایشان دیونیسیوس آریوپاغی بود و زنی که دامرس نام داشت و بعضی دیگر با ایشان. | ۳۴ 34 |
But certain men adhered to him, and believed: among whom [was] Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
