Faarfannaa 12

1 Dura buʼaa Faarfattootaatiif. Faarfannaa Daawit kan akka sirna Shamiiniitiitti faarfatamu. Yaa Waaqayyo, namni Waaqa sodaatu hin jiruutii ati na gargaar; ilmaan namaa keessaas namni amanamu dhabameeraatii.

To the chief Musician. Upon Sheminith. A Psalm of David. Save, Jehovah, for the godly man is gone; for the faithful have failed from among the children of men.

2 Namni hundinuu ollaa isaatti soba dubbata; isaan nama saadanii garaa lamaan dubbatu.

They speak falsehood every one with his neighbour: [with] flattering lip, with a double heart, do they speak.

3 Waaqayyo afaan nama saadu hunda, arraba of tuulu hundas haa kukkutu;

Jehovah will cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that speaketh proud things,

4 isaanis, “Nu arraba keenyaan ni moona; hidhiin keenyas keenyuma; eenyutu nurratti gooftummaa qaba?” jedhu.

Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail, our lips are our own: who [is] lord over us?

5 Waaqayyo, “Ani sababii hacuucamuu hiyyeeyyiitiif, sababii aaduu rakkattootaatiifis amma nan kaʼa. Nagaa isaan hawwan keessas isaan nan jiraachisa” jedha.

Because of the oppression of the afflicted, because of the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith Jehovah, I will set [him] in safety, at whom they puff.

6 Dubbiin Waaqayyoo hirʼina hin qabu; innis akka meetii boolla ibiddaa keessatti baqfamee yeroo torba qulqulleeffamee ti.

The words of Jehovah are pure words, silver tried in the furnace of earth, purified seven times.

7 Yaa Waaqayyo ati nu eegda; dhaloota akkanaa irraas bara baraan nu oolchita.

Thou, Jehovah, wilt keep them, thou wilt preserve them from this generation for ever.

8 Yeroo wanni faayidaa hin qabne ilmaan namaa gidduutti kabajamutti hamoonni of dhiibuudhaan kallattii hundaan asii fi achi naannaʼu.

The wicked walk about on every side, when vileness is exalted among the children of men.
