1 Til songmeisteren, etter «Liljor»; eit vitnemål av Asaf, ein salme. Du Israels hyrding, vend øyra til! du som fører Josef som ei hjord, du som tronar yver kerubarne, syn deg herleg!

Unto the end. For those who will be changed. The testimony of Asaph. A Psalm. The One who reigns over Israel: Be attentive. For you lead Joseph like a sheep. The One who sits upon the cherubim: Shine forth

2 Vekk upp ditt velde for Efraim og Benjamin og Manasse, og kom oss til hjelp!

in the presence of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Awaken your power and draw near, so as to accomplish our salvation.

3 Gud, reis oss upp att, og lat ditt andlit lysa, so me vert frelste!

Convert us, O God. And reveal your face, and we will be saved.

4 Herre Gud, Allhers drott! Kor lenge du frøser av harm, endå folket ditt bed!

O Lord, God of hosts, how long will you be angry over the prayer of your servant?

5 Du gav deim tårebrød til å eta og tåror til å drikka i fullt mål.

How long will you feed us the bread of tears, and give us to drink a full measure of tears?

6 Du sette oss til eit trættemål for våre grannar, og våre fiendar spottar seg imillom.

You have set us as a contradiction to our neighbors. And our enemies have ridiculed us.

7 Gud, allhers drott, reis oss upp att og lat ditt andlit lysa, so me vert frelste!

O God of hosts, convert us. And reveal your face, and we will be saved.

8 Eit vintre flutte du frå Egyptarland, du dreiv heidningar ut og planta det.

You have transferred a vineyard from Egypt. You have cast out the Gentiles, and planted it.

9 Du rudde rom for det, og det feste rot og fyllte landet.

You were the leader of the journey in its sight. You planted its roots, and it filled the earth.

10 Fjell vart løynde av skuggen frå det, og Guds cedrar av greinerne.

Its shadow covered the hills, and its branches covered the cedars of God.

11 Det strekte sine greiner ut til havet, og sine renningar burt imot elvi.

It extended its new branches even to the sea, and its new seedlings even to the river.

12 Kvi hev du rive ned gardarne ikring det, so alle som gjeng framum på vegen, plukkar av det?

So then, why have you destroyed its walls, so that all those who pass by the way gather its grapes?

13 Svinet frå skogen gneg på det og dyri på marki beitar i det.

The wild boar of the forest has trampled it, and a single wild beast has laid waste to it.

14 Gud, allhers drott, vend um att! skoda ned frå himmelen og sjå og vitja ditt vintre!

Turn back, O God of hosts. Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vineyard;

15 og verna um det som di høgre hand hev planta, og um den son du hev valt deg ut!

and complete what your right hand has planted, and look upon the son of man, whom you have confirmed for yourself.

16 Det er brent med eld, det er avhogge, for trugsl frå ditt andlit gjeng dei til grunnar.

Whatever has been set on fire and dug under will perish at the rebuke of your countenance.

17 Haldt di hand yver mannen ved di høgre hand, yver menneskjesonen som du hev valt deg ut,

Let your hand be over the man on your right, and over the son of man, whom you have confirmed for yourself.

18 so vil me ikkje vika frå deg! Gjer oss levande att, so vil me kalla på ditt namn!

For we do not depart from you, and you will revive us. And we will invoke your name.

19 Herre Gud, allhers drott, reis oss upp att, og lat ditt andlit lysa, so me vert frelste!

O Lord, God of hosts, convert us. And reveal your face, and we will be saved.
