Filemon 1
1 Paulus, Kristi Jesu fange, og broderen Timoteus til Filemon, vår kjære ven og medarbeidar,
Paul a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy a brother, to Philemon our beloved brother and fellow-laborer, and to the beloved Apphia,
2 og til Apfia, vår syster, og til Arkippus, vår medstridsmann, og til kyrkjelyden i ditt hus:
and to Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the church in thine house,
3 Nåde vere med dykk og fred frå Gud, vår Fader, og Herren Jesus Kristus!
grace and peace be to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Eg takkar alltid min Gud, når eg kjem deg i hug i bønerne mine,
I thank my God always making mention of thee in my prayers,
5 då eg høyrer um din kjærleik og den tru som du hev til Herren Jesus og til alle dei heilage,
(hearing of the faith which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and of thy love to all the saints, )
6 at deira samfund med deg i trui må verta verksamt for Kristus i kjennskapen til alt det gode som er i dykk.
that the communication of thy faith may become effectual in the acknowledgement of all the good that is in you towards Christ Jesus:
7 For eg fekk stor gleda og trøyst ved din kjærleik, av di dei heilage er hugga i hjarta ved deg, bror!
for we have much joy and comfort in thy love, because by thee, dear brother, the bowels of the saints are refreshed.
8 Difor, endå eg hev stort frimod i Kristus til å påleggja deg det som sømelegt er,
Wherefore though I have sufficient authority in Christ to enjoin thee what is meet,
9 so bed eg då heller for kjærleiken skuld. Slik som eg er, den gamle Paulus, men no og Kristi Jesu fange,
I would rather intreat thee out of love to me, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now a prisoner too for the sake of Jesus Christ.
10 bed eg deg for son min, som eg hev avla i mine lekkjor, Onesimus,
I intreat thee then for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds,
11 som fyrr var unyttug for deg, men no er nyttug for deg og for meg, han som eg sender attende til deg.
who was formerly unprofitable to thee, but now profitable both to thee and to me; whom I have sent back to thee:
12 Tak du imot honom, det er mitt eiga hjarta!
him therefore, as my own bowels, do thou receive.
13 Eg hadde hug til å få hava honom hjå meg, so han i din stad kunde tena meg i mine lekkjor for evangeliet,
Whom I would gladly have kept with me, that he might have ministered unto me as thou wouldst have done, in the bonds of the gospel.
14 men utan ditt samtykkje vilde eg ingen ting gjera, so din godleik ikkje skulde vera liksom av tvang, men av fri vilje.
But I would do nothing without thy knowledge, that thy kindness might not be as it were forced, but voluntary.
15 For kann henda han difor vart skild frå deg for ei stund, at du kunde få honom att til æveleg eiga, (aiōnios g166)
For perhaps he was therefore parted from thee for a season, that thou mightest receive him for ever: (aiōnios g166)
16 ikkje lenger som træl, men meir enn ein træl, som ein kjær bror, serleg for meg, men kor mykje meir for deg, både i kjøtet og i Herren!
not now as a servant, but above a servant, a dear brother, especially to me, and how much more to thee both in the flesh and in the Lord.
17 So sant du då held meg for din medbror, so tak imot honom som meg sjølv!
If therefore thou accountest me a friend, receive him as thou wouldst receive me.
18 Og hev han gjort deg nokon urett, eller er han deg noko skuldig, so før det på mi rekning.
If he hath wronged thee in any thing, or is indebted to thee, place it to my accompt:
19 Eg, Paulus, skriv med mi eigi hand: Eg skal betala det - at eg ikkje skal segja deg, at du skyldar meg endå deg sjølv.
I Paul have written it with my own hand, I will pay it: not to say that thou indeed owest even thy own self to me.
20 Ja, bror, lat meg då hava gagn av deg i Herren, hugga mitt hjarta i Kristus!
Yea, my brother, let me enjoy this satisfaction from thee in the Lord: and thus refresh my bowels in the Lord.
21 I tiltru til din lydnad skriv eg dette til deg, eg er viss på at du vil gjera endå meir enn eg segjer.
Being fully persuaded of thy compliance, I have written to thee; knowing that thou wilt indeed do more than I ask.
22 Stell so og til herbyrge åt meg; for eg vonar at eg ved dykkar bøner skal verta dykk gjeven.
But I must add, prepare me also a lodging; for I hope that through your prayers I shall be restored to you.
23 Epafras, min medfange i Kristus Jesus, helsar deg;
Epaphras my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus, and Marcus,
24 like eins Markus, Aristarkus, Demas, Lukas, mine medarbeidarar.
Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke my fellow-laborers, salute thee.
25 Vår Herre Jesu Kristi nåde vere med dykkar ånd!
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
