Matteus 21
1 Då dei var komne til Betfage, til Oljeberget, og ikkje hadde langt att til Jerusalem, då sende Jesus tvo læresveinar i veg og sagde til deim:
And when they had drawn near to Jerusalem, and had arrived at Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2 «Gakk inn i den grendi som ligg beint framfor dykk! Der finn de straks ei asna som stend bundi, og ein fole attmed henne; dei skal de løysa og leida hit til meg.
saying to them: “Go into the town that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Release them, and lead them to me.
3 Og er det nokon som talar til dykk, so seg: «Herren treng um deim; » då sender han deim hit med ein gong.»
And if anyone will have said anything to you, say that the Lord has need of them. And he will promptly dismiss them.”
4 Dette hende av di det laut sannast det som er tala gjenom profeten, når han segjer:
Now all this was done in order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet, saying,
5 «Seg til Sions dotter: Sjå, her kjem din konge til deg. Mjuk i åndi rid han på eit asen, folen åt eit klyvdyr.»
“Tell the daughter of Zion: Behold, your king comes to you meekly, sitting on a donkey and on a colt, the son of one accustomed to the yoke.”
6 Læresveinarne gjekk og gjorde som Jesus hadde sagt.
Then the disciples, going out, did just as Jesus instructed them.
7 Dei henta asna og folen, og lagde kjolarne sine på deim, og so sette han seg uppå.
And they brought the donkey and the colt, and they laid their garments on them, and they helped him sit upon them.
8 Og størsteparten av folket breidde klædi sine på vegen; andre braut kvister av trei og strådde på vegen.
Then a very numerous crowd spread their garments on the way. But others cut branches from the trees and scattered them on the way.
9 Og folkehoparne som gjekk fyre og fylgde etter, ropa: «Hosianna Davids son! Velsigna vere han som kjem i Herrens namn! Hosianna i det høgste!»
And the crowds that preceded him, and those that followed, cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!”
10 Då han so drog inn i Jerusalem, vart det eit heilt oppstyr i byen; dei spurde: «Kven er dette?»
And when he had entered into Jerusalem, the entire city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”
11 Og folkehoparne svara: «Det er profeten, Jesus frå Nasaret i Galilæa.»
But the people were saying, “This is Jesus, the Prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”
12 So gjekk Jesus inn i Guds tempel og dreiv ut alle som handla i heilagdomen; han velte bordi åt pengevekslarane og krakkarne åt deim som selde duvor,
And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and he cast out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the chairs of the vendors of doves.
13 og sagde til deim: «Det stend skrive: «Mitt hus skal kallast eit bønehus, » men de gjer det til eit røvarbol.»
And he said to them: “It is written: ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer. But you have made it into a den of robbers.’”
14 I templet kom det blinde og halte til honom, og han gjorde deim gode att.
And the blind and the lame drew near to him in the temple; and he healed them.
15 Men då dei øvste prestarne og dei skriftlærde såg underi han gjorde, og høyrde borni som ropa i templet: «Hosianna Davids son!» so vart dei arge og sagde til honom:
Then the leaders of the priests and the scribes became indignant, seeing the miracles that he wrought, and the children crying out in the temple, saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!”
16 «Høyrer du kva desse segjer?» «Ja!» svara han. «Hev de aldri lese: «Av småsveins mål og sogbarns låt hev du ein lovsong laga deg?»»
And they said to him, “Do you hear what these ones are saying?” But Jesus said to them, “Certainly. Have you never read: For out of the mouth of babes and infants, you have perfected praise?”
17 So gjekk han frå deim og ut or byen, til Betania, og var der med natti.
And leaving them behind, he went out, beyond the city, into Bethania, and he lodged here.
18 Då han gjekk inn til byen att um morgonen, vart han svolten.
Then, as he was returning to the city in the morning, he was hungry.
19 Då fekk han sjå eit einsleg fiketre attmed vegen. Han gjekk der burt, men fann’kje anna på treet enn lauv. Då sagde han til det: «Aldri i verdi skal det koma frukt på deg meir.» Og straks turka fiketreet. (aiōn g165)
And seeing a certain fig tree beside the way, he approached it. And he found nothing on it, except only leaves. And he said to it, “May fruit never spring forth from you, for all time.” And immediately the fig tree was dried up. (aiōn g165)
20 Då læresveinarne såg det, undra dei seg og sagde: «Korleis kunde det hava seg at fiketreet turka so brått?»
And seeing this, the disciples wondered, saying, “How did it dry up so quickly?”
21 Jesus svara: «Det segjer eg dykk for sant: Dersom de trur og ikkje tvilar, so skal de gjera større ting enn det med fiketreet, ja, um de so segjer til dette fjellet: «Lyft deg upp og kasta deg ut i havet!» so skal det verta so.
And Jesus responded to them by saying: “Amen I say to you, if you have faith and do not hesitate, not only shall you do this, concerning the fig tree, but even if you would say to this mountain, ‘Take and cast yourself into the sea,’ it shall be done.
22 Og alt de bed um, skal de få, so sant de trur.»
And all things whatsoever that you shall ask for in prayer: believing, you shall receive.”
23 So gjekk han inn i templet, og med han lærde folket, kom dei øvste prestarne og styresmennerne for lyden burt til honom og sagde: «Kva rett hev du til å gjera dette, og kven gav deg den retten?»
And when he had arrived at the temple, as he was teaching, the leaders of the priests and the elders of the people approached him, saying: “By what authority do you do these things? And who has given this authority to you?”
24 «No vil eg og spyrja dykk um ein ting, » sagde Jesus; «svarar de meg på det, so skal eg segja dykk kva rett eg hev til å gjera dette:
In response, Jesus said to them: “I also will question you with one word: if you tell me this, I also will tell you by what authority I do these things.
25 Kvar var dåpen åt Johannes ifrå - frå himmelen eller frå menneskje?» Då sagde dei seg imillom: «Svarar me: «Frå himmelen, » so segjer han: «Kvi trudde de honom då ikkje?»
The baptism of John, where was it from? Was it from heaven, or from men?” But they thought within themselves, saying:
26 Og svarar me: «Frå menneskje, » då må me ræddast folket; for alle held Johannes for ein profet.»
“If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’ But if we say, ‘From men,’ we have the crowd to fear, for they all hold John to be a prophet.”
27 So svara dei: «Det veit me ikkje.» «Då vil ikkje eg heller segja dykk kva rett eg hev til å gjera dette, » svara Jesus.
And so, they answered Jesus by saying, “We do not know.” So he also said to them: “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
28 «Men kva meiner de um det: Det var ein mann som hadde tvo søner. Han kom til den eine og sagde: «Gakk burt i vingarden, og arbeid der i dag, son min!»
But how does it seem to you? A certain man had two sons. And approaching the first, he said: ‘Son, go out today to work in my vineyard.’
29 «Nei, eg vil ikkje, » svara han, men sidan angra han på det og gjekk.
And responding, he said, ‘I am not willing.’ But afterwards, being moved by repentance, he went.
30 So kom faren til den andre, og sagde det same med honom. «Ja, herre, det skal eg, » svara han, men han gjekk ikkje.
And approaching the other, he spoke similarly. And answering, he said, ‘I am going, lord.’ And he did not go.
31 Kven av dei tvo gjorde no det faren vilde?» «Den fyrste, » svara dei. Då sagde Jesus til deim: «Det segjer eg dykk for sant: Tollmenner og skjøkjor kjem fyrr inn i Gudsrike enn de.
Which of the two did the will of the father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them: “Amen I say to you, that tax collectors and prostitutes shall precede you, into the kingdom of God.
32 For Johannes kom til dykk på rettferdsvegen, men de trudde honom ikkje. Tollmennerne og skjøkjorne dei trudde honom; men endå de såg det, kom de ikkje på andre tankar, og trudde honom ikkje då heller.
For John came to you in the way of justice, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. Yet even after seeing this, you did not repent, so as to believe him.
33 Høyr no ei onnor likning: Det var ein gong ein husbonde, som laga ein vingard, og sette gjerde kringum, og stelte til ei vinpersa, og bygde eit tårn; so leigde han hagen burt til brukarar og for ut or landet.
Listen to another parable. There was a man, the father of a family, who planted a vineyard, and surrounded it with a hedge, and dug a press in it, and built a tower. And he loaned it out to farmers, and he set out to sojourn abroad.
34 Då det no leid til at dei skulde hausta av hagen, sende han sveinarne sine til brukarane etter avlingi han skulde hava.
Then, when the time of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers, so that they might receive its fruits.
35 Men brukarane greip sveinarne hans: ein skamslo dei, og ein drap dei, og ein steina dei.
And the farmers apprehended his servants; they struck one, and killed another, and stoned yet another.
36 So sende han andre sveinar, fleire enn fyrste gongen; men dei gjorde like eins med deim.
Again, he sent other servants, more than before; and they treated them similarly.
37 Sist so sende han son sin til deim og sagde: «Dei hev no vel age for son min!»
Then, at the very end, he sent his son to them, saying: ‘They will revere my son.’
38 Men då brukarane såg sonen, sagde dei seg imillom: «Sjå der er ervingen! Kom, lat oss slå honom i hel og eigna til oss arven hans!»
But the farmers, seeing the son, said among themselves: ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and then we will have his inheritance.’
39 So tok dei honom og støytte honom ut or vingarden og slo honom i hel.
And apprehending him, they cast him outside the vineyard, and they killed him.
40 Når no vingardseigaren kjem, kva skal han då gjera med desse brukarane?»
Therefore, when the lord of the vineyard arrives, what will he do to those farmers?”
41 «Med vondt skal han løna desse vonde mennerne, » svara dei; «han skal gjera ende på deim, og vingarden skal han leiga burt til andre brukarar, som gjev han avlingi i rette tid.»
They said to him, “He will bring those evil men to an evil end, and he will loan out his vineyard to other farmers, who shall repay to him the fruit in its time.”
42 Då sagde Jesus til dei: «Hev de aldri lese i skrifterne: «Den steinen som byggjarane vanda, den var det som vart hyrnestein; D’er Herren sjølv som so hev gjort det; for oss er det eit under stort?»
Jesus said to them: “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone that the builders have rejected has become the cornerstone. By the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes?’
43 Difor segjer eg dykk at Gudsriket skal takast ifrå dykk og gjevast til eit folk som ber dei frukterne som høyrer til der.
Therefore, I say to you, that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and it shall be given to a people who shall produce its fruits.
44 Og den som fell på steinen, han skal slå seg sund, men den som steinen fell på, skal han smuldra til dust.»
And whoever will have fallen on this stone shall be broken, yet truly, on whomever it shall fall, it will crush him.”
45 Då dei øvste prestarne og farisæarane høyrde likningarne hans, skyna dei at det var deim han tala um.
And when the leaders of the priests, and the Pharisees had heard his parables, they knew that he was speaking about them.
46 Og dei tenkte på å gripa honom, men torde ikkje for folket; for dei heldt honom for ein profet.
And though they sought to take hold of him, they feared the crowds, because they held him to be a prophet.
