1 Mosebok 30
1 Då Rakel såg at ho og Jakob ikkje fekk born, vart ho ovundsjuk på syster si, og sagde med Jakob: «Lat meg få born, elles so døyr eg!»
And Rachel seeth that she hath not borne to Jacob, and Rachel is envious of her sister, and saith unto Jacob, 'Give me sons, and if there is none — I die.'
2 Då vart Jakob harm på Rakel og sagde: «Er eg i staden åt Gud, som hev meinka deg born?»
And Jacob's anger burneth against Rachel, and he saith, 'Am I in stead of God who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?'
3 Då sagde ho: «Sjå her er Bilha, terna mi. Gakk inn til henne, so ho kann føda på fanget mitt og hjelpa meg og til ein son!»
And she saith, 'Lo, my handmaid Bilhah, go in unto her, and she doth bear on my knees, and I am built up, even I, from her;'
4 So gav ho honom Bilha, terna si, til kona, og Jakob gjekk inn til henne.
and she giveth to him Bilhah her maid-servant for a wife, and Jacob goeth in unto her;
5 Og Bilha vart med barn, og fekk ein son med Jakob.
and Bilhah conceiveth, and beareth to Jacob a son,
6 Då sagde Rakel: «Gud hev dømt i mi sak: han høyrde bøni mi, og gav meg ein son.» So kalla ho honom Dan.
and Rachel saith, 'God hath decided for me, and also hath hearkened to my voice, and giveth to me a son;' therefore hath she called his name Dan.
7 Og Bilha, terna hennar Rakel, vart med barn att, og fekk ein son til med Jakob.
And Bilhah, Rachel's maid-servant, conceiveth again, and beareth a second son to Jacob,
8 Då sagde Rakel: «Harde otor hev eg stade med syster mi, og no hev eg vunne.» So kalla ho honom Naftali.
and Rachel saith, 'With wrestlings of God I have wrestled with my sister, yea, I have prevailed;' and she calleth his name Napthali.
9 Då Lea såg at ho ikkje fekk fleire born, tok ho Zilpa, terna si, og gav Jakob til kona.
And Leah seeth that she hath ceased from bearing, and she taketh Zilpah her maid-servant, and giveth her to Jacob for a wife;
10 Og Zilpa, terna hennar Lea, fekk ein son med Jakob.
and Zilpah, Leah's maid-servant, beareth to Jacob a son,
11 Då sagde Lea: «No hadde eg lukka med meg!» So kalla ho honom Gad.
and Leah saith, 'A troop is coming;' and she calleth his name Gad.
12 Og Zilpa, terna hennar Lea, fekk ein son til med Jakob.
And Zilpah, Leah's maid-servant, beareth a second son to Jacob,
13 Då sagde Lea: «Å sæle meg! Droserne kjem til å sælka meg!» So kalla ho honom Asser.
and Leah saith, 'Because of my happiness, for daughters have pronounced me happy;' and she calleth his name Asher.
14 Ein dag i skurdonni gjekk Ruben av og fann rune-eple på marki, og bar deim heim til Lea, mor si. Då sagde Rakel med Lea: «Kjære væne, gjev meg nokre av dei rune-epli som son din hev funne!»
And Reuben goeth in the days of wheat-harvest, and findeth love-apples in the field, and bringeth them in unto Leah, his mother, and Rachel saith unto Leah, 'Give to me, I pray thee, of the love-apples of thy son.'
15 Men ho svara henne: «Er det ikkje nok at du hev teke mannen min? Vil du no taka rune-epli åt son min og?» Då sagde Rakel: «Det er det same, fær eg rune-epli åt son din, so kann mannen få sova hjå deg i natt.»
And she saith to her, 'Is thy taking my husband a little thing, that thou hast taken also the love-apples of my son?' and Rachel saith, 'Therefore doth he lie with thee to-night, for thy son's love-apples.'
16 Um kvelden, då Jakob kom heim frå marki, gjekk Lea til møtes med honom og sagde: «Det er hjå meg du skal vera i natt; eg hev tinga deg for rune-epli åt son min.» So sov han hjå henne den natti.
And Jacob cometh in from the field at evening; and Leah goeth to meet him, and saith, 'Unto me dost thou come in, for hiring I have hired thee with my son's love-apples;' and he lieth with her during that night.
17 Og Gud høyrde Lea, og ho vart med barn, og åtte den femte sonen.
And God hearkeneth unto Leah, and she conceiveth, and beareth to Jacob a son, a fifth,
18 Då sagde Lea: «No hev Gud gjeve meg mi løn, for di eg let mannen få terna mi.» So kalla ho honom Issakar.
and Leah saith, 'God hath given my hire, because I have given my maid-servant to my husband;' and she calleth his name Issachar.
19 Og Lea vart med barn att, og åtte den sette sonen.
And conceive again doth Leah, and she beareth a sixth son to Jacob,
20 Då sagde Lea: «Gud hev gjeve meg ei god gåva. No kjem mannen min til å bu hjå meg, sidan han hev fenge seks søner med meg.» So kalla ho honom Sebulon.
and Leah saith, 'God hath endowed me — a good dowry; this time doth my husband dwell with me, for I have borne to him six sons;' and she calleth his name Zebulun;
21 Sidan åtte ho ei dotter, og kalla henne Dina.
and afterwards hath she born a daughter, and calleth her name Dinah.
22 Då kom Gud i hug Rakel, og Gud høyrde bønerne hennar, og gjorde henne barnkjømd.
And God remembereth Rachel, and God hearkeneth unto her, and openeth her womb,
23 So vart ho då umhender, og åtte ein son. Då sagde ho: «Gud hev teke burt skammi mi.»
and she conceiveth and beareth a son, and saith, 'God hath gathered up my reproach;'
24 Og ho kalla honom Josef og sagde: «Gjev Herren vilde lata meg få ein son til!»
and she calleth his name Joseph, saying, 'Jehovah is adding to me another son.'
25 Då no Rakel hadde fenge Josef, sagde Jakob med Laban: «Slepp meg or tenesta, so eg kann fara heim til mitt eige land!
And it cometh to pass, when Rachel hath borne Joseph, that Jacob saith unto Laban, 'Send me away, and I go unto my place, and to my land;
26 Lat meg få konorne og borni mine, som eg hev tent for, so vil eg fara! For du veit sjølv kor lenge eg hev tent hjå deg.»
give up my wives and my children, for whom I have served thee, and I go; for thou — thou hast known my service which I have served thee.'
27 Då sagde Laban med honom: «Hadde du berre noko godvilje for meg! Eg hev fenge ei vitring um at det er for di skuld Herren hev velsigna meg.
And Laban saith unto him, 'If, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes — I have observed diligently that Jehovah doth bless me for thy sake.'
28 Set berre på kva du vil hava i løn, » sagde han, «so skal eg gjeva deg det!»
He saith also, 'Define thy hire to me, and I give.'
29 Og Jakob sagde med honom: «Du veit sjølv kor vel eg hev tent deg, og korleis bufeet ditt hev muna, medan eg hev stelt med det.
And he saith unto him, 'Thou — thou hast known that which I have served thee [in], and that which thy substance was with me;
30 For det var lite du hadde, fyrr eg kom hit, og no hev det auka mengdevis, og Herren hev velsigna deg for kvart fet eg gjekk. Men når skal no eg få syta for mitt eige hus?»
for [it is] little which thou hast had at my appearance, and it breaketh forth into a multitude, and Jehovah blesseth thee at my coming; and now, when do I make, I also, for mine own house?'
31 «Kva skal eg gjeva deg?» sagde hin. «Du tarv ikkje gjeva meg noko, » sagde Jakob. «Vil du gjera som eg no segjer, so skal eg gjæta buskapen din og sjå etter honom, som eg hev gjort.
And he saith, 'What do I give to thee?' And Jacob saith, 'Thou dost not give me anything; if thou do for me this thing, I turn back; I have delight; thy flock I watch;
32 I dag vil eg ganga gjenom heile buskapen din og skilja ut alt som er droplut eller spreklut, både det som er svart i saueflokken, og det som er spreklut eller droplut i geiteflokken, og det skal vera løni mi.
I pass through all thy flock to-day to turn aside from thence every sheep speckled and spotted, and every brown sheep among the lambs, and speckled and spotted among the goats — and it hath been my hire;
33 Og mi truheit skal svara for meg, når du heretter kjem og ser yver løni mi: Finst det hjå meg nokor geit som ikkje er droplut eller spreklut, eller nokon sau som ikkje er svart, so er dei stolne.»
and my righteousness hath answered for me in the day to come, when it cometh in for my hire before thy face; — every one which is not speckled and spotted among [my] goats, and brown among [my] lambs — it is stolen with me.'
34 Då sagde Laban: «Ja ja, lat det vera som du segjer!»
And Laban saith, 'Lo, O that it were according to thy word;'
35 Og same dagen skilde han ut dei bukkarne som var salute og spreklute, og alle dei geiterne som var droplute og spreklute, alt som det var noko kvitt på, og alt som var svart i saueflokken, og let sønerne sine taka vare på det.
and he turneth aside during that day the ring-streaked and the spotted he-goats, and all the speckled and the spotted she-goats, every one that [hath] white in it, and every brown one among the lambs, and he giveth into the hand of his sons,
36 Og han lagde tri dagsleider millom seg og Jakob. Og Jakob laut gjæta det som att var av fenaden hans Laban.
and setteth a journey of three days between himself and Jacob; and Jacob is feeding the rest of the flock of Laban.
37 Men Jakob fann seg grøne stavar av poppel og mandeltre og løn, og randa deim, so den kvite veden synte millom borkerenderne.
And Jacob taketh to himself a rod of fresh poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut, and doth peel in them white peelings, making bare the white that [is] on the rods,
38 Og stavarne, som han hadde randa, sette han upp i trørne i vatskuporne, der småfeet kom og skulde drikka, midt for augo på småfeet; for det var jamt dei flaug, når dei kom og skulde drikka.
and setteth up the rods which he hath peeled in the gutters in the watering troughs (when the flock cometh in to drink), over-against the flock, that they may conceive in their coming in to drink;
39 So para småfeet seg innmed stavarne, og fekk ungar som var salute og droplute og spreklute.
and the flocks conceive at the rods, and the flock beareth ring-streaked, speckled, and spotted ones.
40 Men lambi skilde Jakob ifrå og let småfeet venda augo mot det som var droplut, og mot alt som var svart i buskapen hans Laban. Soleis fekk han seg flokkar for seg sjølv, og hadde deim ikkje i hop med buskapen hans Laban.
And the lambs hath Jacob parted, and he putteth the face of the flock towards the ring-streaked, also all the brown in the flock of Laban, and he setteth his own droves by themselves, and hath not set them near Laban's flock.
41 Og kvar gong det var trivelegt småfe som flaug, so sette Jakob randestavarne i trørne, midt for augo på deim, so dei skulde para seg innmed stavarne.
And it hath come to pass whenever the strong ones of the flock conceive, that Jacob set the rods before the eyes of the flock in the gutters, to cause them to conceive by the rods,
42 Men var det slikt som ikkje vilde trivast, so sette han ikkje stavarne der. Soleis fekk Laban det feet som ikkje vilde trivast, og Jakob det som var trivelegt.
and when the flock is feeble, he doth not set [them]; and the feeble ones have been Laban's, and the strong ones Jacob's.
43 Og mannen vart rikare og rikare, og fekk mykje bufe, og gjentor og drengjer, og kamelar og asen.
And the man increaseth very exceedingly, and hath many flocks, and maid-servants, and men-servants, and camels, and asses.
