1 Og Saulus samtykte i at dei drap honom. Men den dagen tok det til ei stor forfylgjing mot kyrkjelyden i Jerusalem, og dei vart spreidde ut yver Judæalandet og Samarialandet, alle so nær som apostlarne.
Saul had pleasure in his deeth. And at yt tyme there was a great persecucion agaynst the congregacion which was at Ierusalem and they were all scattered abroade thorowout the regions of Iury and Samaria except the Apostles
2 Men nokre gudlege menner jorda Stefanus, og dei gret og jamra sårt etter honom.
Then devout men dressed Steven aud made great lamentacion over him.
3 Men Saulus herja kyrkjelyden og gjekk inn i hus etter hus og drog fram menner og kvinnor og yvergav deim til fangehus.
But Saul made havocke of the congregacion entrynge into every housse and drewe out bothe man and woman and thrust the into preson.
4 Men dei som var spreidde utyver, gjekk ikring og bar ut evangelie-ordet.
They that were scattered abroade went every where preachyng the worde.
5 Filip kom då ned til ein by i Samaria og forkynte Kristus for deim.
Then came Philip into a cite of Samaria and preached Christ vnto them.
6 Og folket gav samlyndt gaum etter det som vart sagt av Filip, med di dei høyrde og såg dei teikni som han gjorde.
And the people gave hede vnto those thinges which Philip spake with one acorde in that they hearde and sawe the miracles which he dyd.
7 For or mange som hadde ureine ånder, for dei ut ropande med høg røyst, og mange lame og vanføre vart lækte.
For vnclene spretes cryinge with loude voyce came out of many that were possessed of them. And manye taken with palsies and many yt halted were healed
8 Og det vart stor gleda i den byen.
And ther was great ioye in that cite.
9 Men det var ein mann med namnet Simon, som fyrr hadde fare med trolldom i byen og fjetra folket i Samaria, med di han sagde seg vera noko stort.
And ther was a certayne man called Simon which before tyme in the same cite vsed witche crafte and bewitched the people of Samarie sayinge that he was a man yt coulde do greate thinges
10 Og alle heldt seg til honom, både små og store, og sagde: «Han er Guds kraft som heiter stor.»
Whom they regarded from ye lest to the greatest sayinge: this felow is the great power of God.
11 Men dei heldt seg til honom, av di han i lang tid hadde fjetra deim med trollkunster.
And him they set moche by because of longe tyme with sorcery he had mocked the.
12 Men då dei no trudde Filip, som forkynte evangeliet um Guds rike og Jesu Kristi namn, so let dei seg døypa både menner og kvinnor.
But assone as they beleved Philippes preachynge of the kyngdome of God and of the name of Iesu Christ they were baptised bothe men and wemen.
13 Og Simon tok ved trui han og, og då han var døypt, heldt han seg til Filip, og då han såg dei teikn og store kraftige gjerningar som vart gjorde, vart han mest frå seg av undring.
Then Simon him selfe beleved also and was baptised and cotinued with Phillip and wondered beholdynge the miracles and signes which were shewed.
14 Då apostlarne i Jerusalem fekk høyra at Samaria hadde teke imot Guds ord, sende dei til deim Peter og Johannes;
When ye Apostles which were at Ierusalem hearde saye that Samaria had receaved ye worde of God: they sent vnto the Peter and Iohn
15 dei kom ned og bad for deim, at dei måtte få den Heilage Ande;
which when they were come prayed for the that they myght receave ye holy goost
16 for endå var han ikkje fallen på nokon av deim, men dei var berre døypte til Herren Jesu namn.
For as yet he was come on none of them: But they were baptised only in the name of Christ Iesu.
17 Då lagde dei henderne på deim, og dei fekk den Heilage Ande.
Then layde they their hondes on them and they receaved the holy goost.
18 Men då Simon såg at den Heilage Ande vart gjeven ved handpåleggjing av apostlarne, kom han til deim med pengar og sagde:
When Simo sawe that thorowe layinge on of the Apostles hondes on them the holy goost was geven: he offered the money
19 «Gjev meg og denne magt, at den som eg legg henderne på, må få den Heilage Ande!»
sayinge: Geve me also this power that on whom soever I put the hondes he maye receave the holy goost.
20 Men Peter sagde til honom: «Forbanna vere sylvet ditt saman med deg sjølv, for di du tenkte å kjøpa Guds gåva for pengar!
Then sayde Peter vnto him: thy monye perysh with the because thou wenest that the gifte of God maye be obteyned wt money.
21 Du hev ikkje deil eller lut i dette ordet; for hjarta ditt er ikkje rett for Gud.
Thou hast nether parte nor felloushippe in this busines. For thy hert is not ryght in the syght of God.
22 Vend difor um frå denne vondskapen din, og bed til Gud, um den tanken i hjarta ditt kunde verta deg forlaten!
Repent therfore of this thy wickednes and praye God that ye thought of thyne hert maye be forgeven the.
23 For eg ser at du ligg i illskaps gall og urettferds band.»
For I perceave that thou arte full of bitter gall and wrapped in iniquite.
24 Då svara Simon: «Bed de for meg til Herren, at ikkje noko må koma yver meg av det som de hev sagt!»
Then answered Simon and sayde: Praye ye to the lorde for me yt none of these thinges whiche ye have spoken fall on me.
25 Då dei so hadde vitna og tala Herrens ord, vende dei um att til Jerusalem, og dei forkynte evangeliet i mange samaritanbyar.
And they whe they had testified and preached the worde of the lorde returned toward Ierusalem and preached the gospell in many cities of the Samaritas.
26 Men ein Herrens engel tala til Filip og sagde: «Statt upp og gakk mot sud på den vegen som gjeng ned frå Jerusalem til Gaza!» Det er ein øydeveg.
Then the angell of the lorde spake vnto Phillip sayinge: aryse and goo towardes mydde daye vnto ye waye yt goeth doune fro Ierusalem vnto Gaza which is in ye desert.
27 Og han stod upp og gjekk; og sjå, der var ein mann frå Ætiopia, ein hirdmann, ein megtig herre hjå dronning Kandake i Ætiopia, ein som var sett yver heile skatten hennar; han var komen til Jerusalem for å tilbeda,
And he arose and wet on. And beholde a man of Ethiopia which was a chaberlayne and of grete auctorite wt Cadace quene of ye Ethiopias and had ye rule of all her treasure came to Ierusalem for to praye.
28 og han var no på heimvegen og sat på vogni si og las profeten Jesaja.
And as he returned home agayne sittynge in his charet he rede Esay ye prophet
29 Men Anden sagde til Filip: «Gakk burtåt og haldt deg ved denne vogni!»
Then ye sprete sayde vnto Phillip: Goo neare and ioyne thy selfe to yonder charet.
30 Men Filip sprang til og høyrde at han las profeten Jesaja, og han sagde: «Skynar du det du les?»
And Philip ranne to him and hearde him rede ye prophet Esayas and sayde: Vnderstondest thou what thou redest?
31 Men han sagde: «Korleis skulde eg kunna det, utan at nokon rettleider meg?» Og han bad Filip stiga upp og setja seg hjå honom.
And he sayd: how can I except I had a gyde? And he desyred Philip that he wold come vp and sit wt him.
32 Men det stykket av skrifti som han las, var dette: «Som ein sau vart han førd til slagting, og liksom eit lamb som er tagalt for den som klypper det, soleis let han ikkje upp sin munn.
The tenoure of ye scripture which he redde was this. He was ledde as a shepe to be slayne: and lyke a lambe dome before his sherer so opened he not his mouth.
33 I hans fornedring vart domen yver honom burtteken, og kven kann fortelja um hans ætt? for hans liv vert teke burt frå jordi.»
Because of his humblenes he was not estemed: who shall declare his generacio? for his lyfe is taken fro the erthe.
34 Men hirdmannen tok til ords og sagde til Filip: «Eg bed deg: kven segjer profeten dette um? um seg sjølv eller um nokon annan?»
The chamberlayne answered Philip and sayde: I praye the of whom speaketh the Prophet this? of him selfe or of some other man?
35 Men Filip let upp munnen og gjekk ut ifrå dette skriftordet og forkynte honom evangeliet um Jesus.
And Philip opened his mouth and beganne at ye same scripture and preached vnto him Iesus.
36 Og som dei for frametter vegen, kom dei til ein stad der det var vatn. Og hirdmannen sagde: «Sjå her er vatn, kva hindrar meg frå å verta døypt?»
And as they went on their waye they came vnto a certayne water and the chamberlayne sayde: Se here is water what shall let me to be baptised?
37 Og Filip sagde: «Trur du av heile ditt hjarta, so er det tillate.» Men han svara og sagde: «Eg trur at Jesus Kristus er Guds Son.»
Philip sayde vnto him: Yf thou beleve with all thyne hert thou mayst. He answered and sayde: I beleve that Iesus Christe is the sonne of God.
38 Og han let vogni stana; og dei steig båe tvo ned i vatnet, både Filip og hirdmannen, og han døypte honom.
And he comaunded the charet to stonde still. And they went doune bothe into the water: bothe Philip and also the chamberlayne and he baptised him.
39 Men då dei steig upp or vatnet, rykte Herrens Ande Filip burt, og hirdmannen såg honom ikkje meir; for han for glad sin veg.
And assone as they were come out of the water the sprete of the lorde caught awaye Philip yt the chamberlayne sawe him no moore. And he wet on his waye reioysinge:
40 Men Filip vart funnen i Asdod. Og han gjekk ikring og forkynte evangeliet i alle byarne, til han kom til Cæsaræa.
but Philip was founde at Azotus. And he walked thorow out ye countre preachynge in their cities tyll he came to Cesarea.
