Salmenes 77

1 Til sangmesteren, for Jedutun; av Asaf; en salme. Min røst er til Gud, og jeg vil rope; min røst er til Gud, og han vil vende øret til mig.

For the end, for Idithun, a Psalm of Asaph. I cried to the Lord with my voice, yes, my voice [was addressed] to God; and he gave heed to me.

2 På min nøds dag søker jeg Herren; min hånd er utrakt om natten og blir ikke trett, min sjel vil ikke la sig trøste.

In the day of mine affliction I earnestly sought the Lord; [even] with my hands by night before him, and I was not deceived; my soul refused to be comforted.

3 Jeg vil komme Gud i hu og sukke; jeg vil gruble, og min ånd vansmekter. (Sela)

I remembered God, and rejoiced; I poured out my complaint, and my soul fainted. (Pause)

4 Du holder mine øine oppe i nattevaktene; jeg er urolig og taler ikke.

All mine enemies set a watch [against me]: I was troubled, and spoke not.

5 Jeg tenker på fordums dager, på de lengst fremfarne år.

I considered the days of old, and remembered ancient years.

6 Jeg vil komme i hu mitt strengespill om natten, i mitt hjerte vil jeg gruble, og min ånd ransaker.

And I meditated; I communed with my heart by night, and diligently searched my spirit, [saying],

7 Vil da Herren forkaste i all evighet, og vil han ikke mere bli ved å vise nåde?

Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be well pleased no more?

8 Er det for all tid ute med hans miskunnhet? er hans løfte blitt til intet slekt efter slekt?

Will he cut off his mercy for ever, even for ever and ever?

9 Har Gud glemt å være nådig? Har han i vrede tillukket sin barmhjertighet? (Sela)

Will God forget to pity? or will he shut up his compassions in his wrath? (Pause)

10 Jeg sier: Dette er min plage, det er år fra den Høiestes høire hånd.

And I said, Now I have begun; this is the change of the right hand of the Most High.

11 Jeg vil forkynne Herrens gjerninger; for jeg vil komme dine under i hu fra fordums tid.

I remembered the works of the Lord; for I will remember your wonders from the beginning.

12 Og jeg vil eftertenke alt ditt verk, og på dine store gjerninger vil jeg grunde.

And I will meditate on all your works, and will consider your doings.

13 Gud! Din vei er i hellighet; hvem er en gud stor som Gud?

O God, your way is in the sanctuary; who is a great God as our God?

14 Du er den Gud som gjør under; du har kunngjort din styrke blandt folkene.

You are the God that do wonders; you have made known your power amongst the nations.

15 Du har forløst ditt folk med velde, Jakobs og Josefs barn. (Sela)

You have with your arm redeemed your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. (Pause)

16 Vannene så dig, Gud, vannene så dig, de bevet, ja avgrunnene skalv.

The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you, and feared; and the depths were troubled.

17 Skyene utøste vann, himlene lot sin røst høre, ja dine piler fløi hit og dit.

[There was] an abundant sound of waters: the clouds uttered a voice; for your arrows went abroad.

18 Din tordens røst lød i stormhvirvelen, lyn lyste op jorderike, jorden bevet og skalv.

The voice of your thunder was abroad, and around your lightnings appeared to the world; the earth trembled a quaked.

19 Gjennem havet gikk din vei, og dine stier gjennem store vann, og dine fotspor blev ikke kjent.

Your way is in the sea, and your paths in many waters, and your footsteps can’t be known.

20 Du førte ditt folk som en hjord ved Moses' og Arons hånd.

You did guide your people as sheep by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
