Salmenes 65

1 Til sangmesteren; en salme av David; en sang. Dig, Gud, priser de i stillhet på Sion, og dig gir de det de har lovt.

For the end, a Psalm [and] Song of David. Praise becomes you, O God, in Sion; and to you shall the vow be performed.

2 Du som hører bønner, til dig kommer alt kjød.

Hear my prayer; to you all flesh shall come.

3 Når mine misgjerninger er blitt mig for svære, så forlater du våre overtredelser.

The words of transgressors have overpowered us; but do you pardon our sins.

4 Salig er den du utvelger og lar komme nær, så han bor i dine forgårder; vi vil mette oss med de gode ting i ditt hus, ditt hellige tempel.

Blessed [is he] whom you have chosen and adopted; he shall dwell in your courts; we shall be filled with the good things of your house; your temple is holy.

5 Med forferdelige gjerninger bønnhører du oss i rettferdighet, du vår frelses Gud, du som er en tilflukt for alle jordens ender og havet langt borte.

[You are] wonderful in righteousness. Listen to us, O God our Saviour; the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them [that are] on the sea afar off:

6 Han gjør fjellene faste med sin kraft, omgjordet med velde.

who do establish the mountains in your strength, being girded about with power;

7 Han stiller havenes brusen, deres bølgers brusen og folkenes bulder.

who trouble the depth of the sea, the sounds of its waves.

8 Og de som bor ved jordens ender, frykter for dine tegn; de steder hvor morgen og aften bryter frem, fyller du med jubel.

The nations shall be troubled, and they that inhabit the ends [of the earth] shall be afraid of your signs; you will cause the outgoings of morning and evening to rejoice.

9 Du har gjestet jorden og gitt den overflod, gjort den såre rik, Guds bekk er full av vann; du har latt dem få sitt korn, for således lager du jorden til.

You have visited the earth, and saturated it; you have abundantly enriched it. The river of God is filled with water; you have prepared their food, for thus is the preparation [of it].

10 Du vannet dens furer, senket dens plogland; du bløtte den med regnskurer, velsignet dens grøde.

Saturate her furrows, multiply her fruits; [the crop] springing up shall rejoice in its drops.

11 Du har kronet din godhets år, og dine fotspor drypper av fedme.

You will bless the crown of the year [because] of your goodness; and your plains shall be filled with fatness.

12 Ødemarkens beiter drypper, og haugene omgjorder sig med jubel.

The mountains of the wilderness shall be enriched; and the hills shall gird themselves with joy.

13 Engene er klædd med får, og dalene er dekket med korn; folk roper med fryd og synger.

The rams of the flock are clothed [with wool], and the valleys shall abound in corn; they shall cry aloud, yes they shall sing hymns.
