Salmenes 5
1 Til sangmesteren, til Nehilot; en salme av David. Vend øret til mine ord, Herre, akt på min tanke!
To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my (meditation)
2 Merk på mitt klagerop, min konge og min Gud! For til dig beder jeg.
Hearken to the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for to thee will I pray.
3 Herre, årle høre du min røst! Årle legger jeg min sak frem for dig og venter.
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct [my prayer] to thee, and will look up.
4 For du er ikke en Gud som har behag i ugudelighet; den onde får ikke bo hos dig.
For thou [art] not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
5 Overmodige får ikke stå frem for dine øine; du hater alle dem som gjør urett.
The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
6 Du lar dem som taler løgn, gå til grunne; den blodgjerrige og falske mann er en vederstyggelighet for Herren.
Thou shalt destroy them that speak falsehood: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
7 Men jeg går ved din megen miskunn inn i ditt hus, jeg kaster mig ned foran ditt hellige tempel i din frykt.
But as for me, I will come [into] thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: [and] in thy fear will I worship towards thy holy temple.
8 Herre, led mig ved din rettferdighet for mine motstanderes skyld, gjør din vei jevn for mitt åsyn!
Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness, because of my enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
9 For det er ikke sannhet i deres munn; deres indre er fordervelse, deres strupe en åpen grav; sin tunge gjør de glatt.
For [there is] no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part [is] very wickedness; their throat [is] an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.
10 Døm dem skyldige, Gud! La dem falle for sine råds skyld, styrt dem ned for deres mange misgjerninger! For de er gjenstridige mot dig.
Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
11 Da skal alle de som tar sin tilflukt til dig, glede sig; til evig tid skal de juble, og du skal verne om dem; og de som elsker ditt navn, skal fryde sig i dig.
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
12 For du velsigner den rettferdige, Herre! Som med et skjold dekker du ham med nåde.
For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as [with] a shield.
