1 Mosebok 30
1 Da Rakel så at hun og Jakob ikke fikk barn, blev hun misunnelig på sin søster og sa til Jakob: La mig få barn! Ellers dør jeg.
And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no sons, Rachel envied her sister, and she said to Jacob, Give me sons, or else I die.
2 Da optendtes Jakobs vrede mot Rakel, og han sa: Er jeg i Guds sted, som har nektet dig livsfrukt?
And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel, and he said, Am I in God's stead, who has withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?
3 Da sa hun: Se, der er min trælkvinne Bilha; gå inn til henne, forat hun kan føde på mine knær, så også jeg kan få barn ved henne!
And she said, Behold, my maid Bilhah, go in to her, that she may bear upon my knees, and I also may obtain sons by her.
4 Så gav hun sin trælkvinne Bilha til hustru, og Jakob gikk inn til henne.
And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife, and Jacob went in to her.
5 Og Bilha blev fruktsommelig og fødte Jakob en sønn.
And Bilhah conceived, and bore Jacob a son.
6 Da sa Rakel: Gud har dømt i min sak; han har hørt min bønn og gitt mig en sønn. Derfor kalte hun ham Dan.
And Rachel said, God has judged me, and has also heard my voice, and has given me a son. Therefore she called his name Dan.
7 Og Bilha, Rakels trælkvinne, blev atter fruktsommelig og fødte Jakob ennu en sønn.
And Bilhah Rachel's handmaid conceived again, and bore Jacob a second son.
8 Da sa Rakel: Jeg har kjempet Guds kamper med min søster, og nu har jeg vunnet. Og hun kalte ham Naftali.
And Rachel said, With mighty wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and have prevailed. And she called his name Naphtali.
9 Da Lea så at hun ikke fikk flere barn, tok hun sin trælkvinne Silpa og gav Jakob til hustru.
When Leah saw that she had left off bearing, she took Zilpah her handmaid, and gave her to Jacob to wife.
10 Og Silpa, Leas trælkvinne, fødte Jakob en sønn.
And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bore Jacob a son.
11 Da sa Lea: Til lykke! Og hun kalte ham Gad.
And Leah said, Fortunate! And she called his name Gad.
12 Og Silpa, Leas trælkvinne, fødte Jakob ennu en sønn.
And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bore Jacob a second son.
13 Da sa Lea: Hvor lykkelig jeg er! For alle kvinner vil prise mig lykkelig. Og hun kalte ham Aser.
And Leah said, Happy am I! For the daughters will call me happy. And she called his name Asher.
14 En dag i hvetehøstens tid gikk Ruben ut og fant alruner på marken og bar dem hjem til Lea, sin mor; da sa Rakel til Lea: Kjære, gi mig nogen av din sønns alruner!
And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes.
15 Men hun svarte henne: Er det ikke nok at du har tatt min mann? Vil du nu også ta min sønns alruner? Da sa Rakel: Nu vel, han kan sove hos dig inatt, hvis jeg får din sønns alruner!
And she said to her, Is it a small matter that thou have taken away my husband? And would thou take away my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee tonight for thy son's mandrakes.
16 Da Jakob om aftenen kom hjem fra marken, gikk Lea ham i møte og sa: Det er hos mig du skal være inatt; jeg har tinget dig for min sønns alruner. Så lå han hos henne den natt.
And Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in to me, for I have surely hired thee with my son's mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.
17 Og Gud hørte Lea, og hun blev fruktsommelig og fødte Jakob en femte sønn.
And God hearkened to Leah, and she conceived, and bore Jacob a fifth son.
18 Da sa Lea: Gud har gitt mig min lønn, fordi jeg lot min mann få min trælkvinne. Og hun kalte ham Issakar.
And Leah said, God has given me my hire, because I gave my handmaid to my husband. And she called his name Issachar.
19 Og Lea blev atter fruktsommelig og fødte Jakob en sjette sønn.
And Leah conceived again, and bore a sixth son to Jacob.
20 Da sa Lea: Gud har gitt mig en god gave; nu kommer min mann til å bo hos mig, for jeg har født ham seks sønner. Og hun kalte ham Sebulon.
And Leah said, God has endowed me with a good dowry. Now my husband will dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons. And she called his name Zebulun.
21 Siden fødte hun en datter og kalte henne Dina.
And afterwards she bore a daughter, and called her name Dinah.
22 Da kom Gud Rakel i hu, og Gud hørte henne og åpnet hennes morsliv.
And God remembered Rachel. And God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.
23 Hun blev fruktsommelig og fødte en sønn. Da sa hun: Gud har tatt bort min skam.
And she conceived, and bore a son, and said, God has taken away my reproach.
24 Og hun kalte ham Josef og sa: Herren gi mig ennu en sønn!
And she called his name Joseph, saying, Jehovah adds another son to me.
25 Da nu Rakel hadde født Josef, sa Jakob til Laban: La mig fare, så jeg kan dra hjem til mitt eget land!
And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said to Laban, Send me away, that I may go to my own place, and to my country.
26 Gi mig mine hustruer og mine barn, som jeg har tjent dig for, så vil jeg dra bort; du vet jo selv hvorledes jeg har tjent dig.
Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served thee, and let me go, for thou know my service with which I have served thee.
27 Da sa Laban til ham: Om du bare hadde nogen godhet for mig! Jeg er blitt varslet om at det er for din skyld Herren har velsignet mig.
And Laban said to him, If now I have found favor in thine eyes, tarry, for I have learned by experience that Jehovah has blessed me for thy sake.
28 Så sa han: Si selv hvad du vil ha i lønn, så skal jeg gi dig det.
And he said, Appoint for me thy wages, and I will give it.
29 Og Jakob sa til ham: Du vet selv hvorledes jeg har tjent dig, og hvad din buskap er blitt til under mine hender.
And he said to him, Thou know how I have served thee, and how thy cattle have fared with me.
30 For det var lite det du hadde før jeg kom, men nu har det øket til en stor mengde, og Herren har velsignet dig hvor jeg satte min fot. Men når skal jeg nu også få gjøre noget for mitt eget hus?
For it was little which thou had before I came, and it has increased to a multitude, and Jehovah has blessed thee wherever I turned. And now when shall I provide for my own house also?
31 Da sa Laban: Hvad skal jeg gi dig? Jakob svarte: Du skal ikke gi mig noget; dersom du vil gjøre som jeg nu sier, så skal jeg gjæte din buskap og vokte den, som jeg har gjort.
And he said, What shall I give thee? And Jacob said, Thou shall not give me anything. If thou will do this thing for me, I will again feed thy flock and keep it.
32 Jeg vil idag gå gjennem hele din hjord og skille ut alt som er flekket og spraglet og alt som er sort blandt fårene, og likeså alt som er spraglet og flekket blandt gjetene; og det skal være min lønn.
I will pass through all thy flock today, removing from there every speckled and spotted one, and every black one among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats, and of such shall be my hire.
33 Og min ærlighet skal vidne for mig, når du siden engang kommer og ser over min lønn. Finnes det hos mig nogen gjet som ikke er flekket og spraglet, og noget får som ikke er sort, så er det stjålet.
So shall my righteousness answer for me after this, when thou shall come concerning my hire that is before thee. Every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and black among the sheep, that is with me, shall be considered stolen.
34 Da sa Laban: Vel, la det være som du har sagt!
And Laban said, Behold, O that it might be according to thy word.
35 Og samme dag skilte han ut de stripete og spraglete gjetebukker og alle flekkete og spraglete gjeter, alt det som hadde noget hvitt på sig, og alt sort blandt fårene; og han lot sine sønner ta vare på det,
And he removed that day the he-goats that were ringstreaked and spotted, and all the she-goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white in it, and all the black ones among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.
36 og han la tre dagsreiser mellem sig og Jakob. Og Jakob gjætte resten av Labans småfe.
And he set three days' journey between himself and Jacob. And Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks.
37 Men Jakob tok sig friske kjepper av poppel-, hassel- og lønnetrær og skavde hvite striper på dem, så det hvite på kjeppene kom frem.
And Jacob took for him rods of fresh poplar, and of the almond and of the plane tree, and peeled white streaks in them, and made the white which was in the rods appear.
38 Og han la kjeppene som han hadde skavd, i rennene - i vanntrauene, hvor småfeet kom for å drikke, like foran småfeet; for de parret sig når de kom for å drikke.
And he set the rods which he had peeled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs where the flocks came to drink. And they conceived when they came to drink.
39 Så parret småfeet sig ved kjeppene og fikk stripete, flekkete og spraglete unger.
And the flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks brought forth ringstreaked, speckled, and spotted.
40 Men lammene skilte Jakob ut og lot småfeet vende øinene mot det stripete og alt det sorte blandt Labans småfe; og således fikk han sig hjorder for sig selv og slapp dem ikke sammen med Labans småfe.
And Jacob separated the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstreaked and all the black in the flock of Laban. And he put his own herds apart, and did not put them near Laban's flock.
41 Og hver gang det sterke småfe parret sig, la Jakob kjeppene midt for øinene på dem i rennene, forat de skulde parre sig ved kjeppene;
And it came to pass, whenever the stronger of the flock conceived, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the flock in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods,
42 men når det var svakt småfe, la han ikke kjeppene der; således kom de svake til å tilhøre Laban og de sterke Jakob.
but when the flock were weak, he did not put them in. So the weaker were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's.
43 Og mannen blev rikere og rikere, og han fikk meget småfe og trælkvinner og træler og kameler og asener.
And the man increased exceedingly, and had large flocks, and maid-servants and men-servants, and camels and donkeys.
