1 Krønikebok 12
1 Dette er de som kom til David i Siklag mens han ennu måtte holde sig der av frykt for Saul, Kis' sønn. De hørte til de helter som hjalp ham i krigen;
Now these are those who came to David to Ziklag, while he was still kept from the presence of Saul the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men, his helpers in war.
2 de var væbnet med bue og opøvd i å slynge stener og skyte piler med buen, både med høire og venstre hånd; de hørte til Sauls stammefrender, til benjaminittene.
They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in slinging stones and in shooting arrows from the bow: they were of Saul's brothers of Benjamin.

and Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the Thirty, and over the Thirty, and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Jozabad the Gederathite,

Eluzai, and Jerimoth, and Baaliah, and Shemariah, and Shephatiah the Haruphite,

7 og Joela og Sebadja, sønner av Jeroham, fra Gedor.
and Joelah, and Zebadiah, the sons of Jeroham of Gedor.
8 Og av gadittene gikk nogen over til David i fjellborgen i ørkenen, djerve helter, krigsvante stridsmenn væbnet med skjold og spyd; de var å se til som løver, og de var snare som rådyr på fjellene.
Of the Gadites there separated themselves to David to the stronghold in the wilderness, mighty men of valor, men trained for war, that could handle shield and spear; whose faces were like the faces of lions, and they were as swift as the roes on the mountains;
9 Eser var den første, Obadja den annen, Eliab den tredje,
Ezer the chief, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third,
10 Mismanna den fjerde, Jirmeja den femte,
Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,
11 Attai den sjette, Eliel den syvende,
Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,
12 Johanan den åttende, Elsabad den niende,
Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,
13 Jirmeja den tiende, Makbannai den ellevte.
Jeremiah the tenth, Machbannai the eleventh.
14 Disse hørte til Gads barn og var høvedsmenn i hæren; den ringeste av dem var over hundre og den største over tusen.
These of the sons of Gad were captains of the army: he who was least was equal to one hundred, and the greatest to one thousand.
15 Det var disse som gikk over Jordan i den første måned, da elven gikk over alle sine bredder, og som drev alle dalboerne på flukt både mot øst og mot vest.
These are those who went over the Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed all its banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west.
16 Det kom også nogen av Benjamins og Judas barn til David, helt til fjellborgen.
There came of the people of Benjamin and Judah to the stronghold to David.
17 David gikk ut til dem og tok til orde og sa til dem: Kommer I til mig med fred og vil hjelpe mig, da skal mitt hjerte høre eder til, og vi skal holde sammen; men kommer I for å forråde mig til mine fiender, skjønt det ingen urett er i mine hender, da se vare fedres Gud dertil og straffe det!
David went out to meet them, and answered them, "If you have come peaceably to me to help me, my heart shall be knit to you; but if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it."
18 Da kom Ånden over Amasai, høvedsmannen for de tretti, og han sa: Dine er vi, David, og med dig holder vi fred, du Isais sønn! Fred være med dig, og fred være med dine hjelpere! For din Gud hjelper dig. Da tok David imot dem og satte dem til høvedsmenn for sin krigerflokk.
Then the Spirit came on Amasai, who was chief of the Thirty, and he said, "We are yours, David, and on your side, you son of Jesse: peace, peace be to you, and peace be to your helpers; for your God helps you." Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.
19 Av Manasse gikk nogen over til David da han sammen med filistrene drog ut i strid mot Saul, uten at han dog kom til å hjelpe dem; for filistrenes høvdinger hadde holdt råd og så sendt ham bort, idet de sa: Det vil koste oss våre hoder, om han nu går over til sin herre Saul.
Of Manasseh also there fell away some to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle; but they did not help them; for the lords of the Philistines sent him away after consultation, saying, "He will fall away to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads."
20 Da han så drog til Siklag, gikk nogen av Manasse over til ham; det var Adna og Josabad og Jedial og Mikael og Josabad og Elihu og Silletai, høvedsmennene for de tusener som hørte til Manasse.
As he went to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zillethai, captains of thousands who were of Manasseh.
21 Disse hjalp David mot røverflokken; for de var alle djerve stridsmenn, og de blev høvedsmenn i hæren.
They helped David against the band of rovers: for they were all mighty men of valor, and were captains in the army.
22 For dag efter dag kom det folk til David for å hjelpe ham, inntil det blev til en stor hær, som en Guds hær.
For from day to day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.
23 Dette er tallet på de krigsvæbnede flokker som kom til David i Hebron for å føre Sauls kongedømme over til ham efter Herrens ord:
These are the numbers of the heads of those who were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.
24 Judas barn som bar skjold og spyd, seks tusen og åtte hundre, væbnet til strid;
The people of Judah who bore shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, armed for war.
25 av Simeons barn djerve krigsvante stridsmenn, syv tusen og ett hundre;
Of the people of Simeon, mighty men of valor for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.
26 av Levis barn fire tusen og seks hundre,
Of the descendants of Levi four thousand and six hundred.
27 og dessuten Jojada, høvdingen for Arons ætt, og med ham tre tusen og syv hundre,
Jehoiada was the leader of the household of Aaron; and with him were three thousand and seven hundred,
28 og likeså Sadok, en ung djerv stridsmann med sin familie, to og tyve høvedsmenn;
and Zadok, a young man mighty of valor, and of his father's house twenty-two captains.
29 og av Benjamins barn, Sauls stammefrender, tre tusen; for inntil den tid hadde den største del av dem holdt sig til Sauls hus;
Of the people of Benjamin, the brothers of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul.
30 og av Efra'ims barn tyve tusen og åtte hundre, djerve stridsmenn, navnkundige menn i sine familier;
Of the people of Ephraim twenty thousand eight hundred, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathers' houses.
31 og av den halve Manasse stamme atten tusen navngitte menn, som var utvalgt til å dra avsted og gjøre David til konge;
Of the half-tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, who were mentioned by name, to come and make David king.
32 og av Issakars barn menn som forstod sig på tidene, så de visste hvad Israel hadde å gjøre; deres høvedsmenn var to hundre, og alle deres stammefrender rettet sig efter deres ord;
Of the people of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their heads were two hundred; and all their brothers were at their commandment.
33 av Sebulon menn som drog ut i strid og var rustet til krig med alle slags krigsvåben, femti tusen; de fylket sig til slag med hjerter uten svik;
Of Zebulun, such as were able to go out in the army, who could set the battle in array, with all kinds of instruments of war, fifty thousand, to help David and were not of double heart.
34 og av Naftaii tusen høvedsmenn og med dem syv og tretti tusen mann med skjold og spyd;
Of Naphtali one thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty-seven thousand.
35 og av danittene menn som var rustet til krig, åtte og tyve tusen og seks hundre;
Of the Danites who could set the battle in array, twenty-eight thousand six hundred.
36 og av Aser menn som drog ut i strid for å fylke sig til slag, firti tusen;
Of Asher, such as were able to go out in the army, who could set the battle in array, forty thousand.
37 og fra hin side Jordan, av rubenittene og gadittene og den halve Manasse stamme, menn som var rustet med alle slags krigsvåben, hundre og tyve tusen.
On the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half-tribe of Manasseh, with all kinds of instruments of war for the battle, one hundred twenty thousand.
38 Alle disse krigsmenn kom i ordnet fylking til Hebron med opriktig hjerte for å gjøre David til konge over hele Israel; også hele resten av Israel var enig om å gjøre David til konge.
All these being men of war, who could order the battle array, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.
39 Og de var der hos David i tre dager og åt og drakk; for deres landsmenn hadde laget til måltid for dem.
They were there with David three days, eating and drinking; for their brothers had made preparation for them.
40 Også de som bodde dem nærmest, like til Issakar og Sebulon og Naftali, kom med mat på asener og kameler og mulesler og okser: mel, fikenkaker og rosinkaker og vin og olje og storfe og småfe i mengde; for det var glede i Israel.
Moreover those who were near to them, as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on donkeys, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, food of meal, cakes of figs, and clusters of raisins, and wine, and oil, and cattle, and sheep in abundance: for there was joy in Israel.
