नहूम 3

1 रगतले भरिएको सहरलाई धिक्‍कार! त्यो झूट र लूटको सम्पत्तिले भरिएको छ । त्यसका शिकारहरू सधैँ त्यहीँभित्र छन् ।

Woe to the bloody city. It is all full of lies and robbery. The prey doesn't depart.

2 तर अब त्यहाँबाट कोर्राहरूको, तेज पाङ्ग्राहरू, उफ्रदै गरेका घोडाहरू, र रथहरूको कुदाइको आवाज आउँछन् ।

The noise of the whip, the noise of the rattling of wheels, prancing horses, and bounding chariots,

3 आक्रमण गर्ने घोडचढीहरू, टल्कने तरवारहरू, चम्कने भालाहरू, लास र मुर्दाहरूको थुप्रो त्यहाँ छन् । त्यहाँ अनगिन्ती लाशहरू छन् । त्यसलाई आक्रमण गर्नेहरू लाशमा ठोकर खाँदै हिँड्छन् ।

the horseman mounting, and the flashing sword, the glittering spear, and a multitude of slain, and a great heap of corpses, and there is no end of the bodies. They stumble on their bodies,

4 टुनामुनामा निपुण, त्यो सुन्दर वेश्या, जसले आफ्नो, र टुनामुनाले जाति-जातिहरूलाई बेच्छे, त्यसको कामवासनापूर्ण कामहरूका कारण यो भइरहेको छ ।

because of the multitude of the prostitution of the alluring prostitute, the mistress of witchcraft, who sells nations through her prostitution, and families through her witchcraft.

5 सेनाहरूका परमप्रभु घोषणा गर्नुहुन्छ, “हेर्, म तेरो विरुद्ध छु । म तेरो फरियालाई तेरो अनुहारभन्दा माथिसम्म उचालिदिनेछु र तेरा गुप्‍तांगहरू जाति-जातिहरूलाई, र तेरो शर्म राज्यहरूलाई देखाइदिनेछु ।

"Look, I am against you," says Jehovah of hosts, "and I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show the nations your nakedness, and the kingdoms your shame.

6 म तँमाथि घिनलाग्दो फोहोर फ्याँक्‍नेछु र तँलाई घृणित बनाइदिनेछु । म तँलाई यस्तो बनाउनेछु, कि सबैले तँलाई हेर्नेछन् ।

I will throw abominable filth on you, and make you vile, and will set you a spectacle.

7 तँलाई हेर्ने सबै तँबाट टाढा भाग्‍नेछन् र भन्‍नेछन्, ‘निनवे नष्‍ट भएको छ, त्यसको निम्ति कसले विलौना गर्ला?’ तँलाई शान्त्वना दिने मैले कहाँ पाउन सक्छु?”

It will happen that all those who look at you will flee from you, and say, 'Nineveh is laid waste. Who will mourn for her?' Where will I seek comforters for you?"

8 निनवे, के तँ नील नदीको किनारमा बनाइएको नो शहरभन्दा असल छस्, त्यो शहर जसको वरिपरि पानी थियो, जसको सुरक्षा सागर, र जसको पर्खाल समुद्र थियो?

Are you better than No-Amon, who was situated among the rivers, who had the waters around her; whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was of the sea?

9 कूश र मिश्र त्यसका शक्ति थिए, र त्यसको कुनै अन्त थिएन । पूत र लिबिया त्यसका मित्रराष्‍ट्रहरू थिए ।

Cush and Egypt were her boundless strength. Put and Libya were her helpers.

10 तथापि नो शहर निर्वासनमा लगियो, त्यो दासत्वमा लगियो, त्यसका छोराछोरीहरू हरेक सडकहरूका मुखमा टुक्रा-टुक्रा पारिए । त्यसका शत्रुहरूले त्यसका भारदारहरूका निम्ति चिट्ठा हाले, र त्यसका सबै महान् मानिसहरू साङ्लाले बाँधिए ।

Yet was she carried away. She went into captivity. Her young children also were dashed in pieces at the head of all the streets, and they cast lots for her honorable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

11 तँ मतवाला हुनेछस्, तँ लुक्‍न कोसिस गर्नेछस्, र तैँले आफ्नो शत्रुबाट भाग्‍नलाई शरणस्थान खोज्नेछस् ।

You also will be drunk. You will be hidden. You also will seek a stronghold because of the enemy.

12 तेरा सबै किल्लाहरू पहिले नै फल पाकेका अन्जिरका रूखहरूझैँ हुनेछन् । ती हल्लाइए भने, त्यसका सबै फल खानेवालाको मुखमा झर्नेछन् ।

All your fortresses will be like fig trees with the first-ripe figs: if they are shaken, they fall into the mouth of the eater.

13 हेर्, तेरा बिचमा भएका मानिसहरू स्‍त्रीहरू मात्र छन् । तेरो देशका प्रवेशद्धारहरु शत्रुहरूका निम्ति खुला भएका छन् । आगोले त्यसका गजबारहरू भस्म पारेको छ ।

Look, your troops in your midst are women. The gates of your land are set wide open to your enemies. The fire has devoured your bars.

14 घेरावन्दीको दिनको निम्ति पानी भर्, आफ्ना किल्लाहरू बलियो पार् । हिलोमा जा, र त्यसलाई कुल्ची । इट बनाउने भाँडो बोक् ।

Draw water for the siege. Strengthen your fortresses. Go into the clay, and tread the mortar. Make the brick kiln strong.

15 आगोले तँलाई त्यहाँ भस्म पार्नेछ, र तरवारले तँलाई नाश गर्नेछ । सलहहरूले सबै कुरा सखाप पारेझैँ त्यसले तँलाई सखाप पार्नेछ । फटेङ्ग्राहरू जस्ता अनगिन्ती हो, र सलाहहरूझैँ संख्यामा बढ्‍ ।

There the fire will devour you. The sword will cut you off. It will devour you like the grasshopper. Multiply like grasshoppers. Multiply like the locust.

16 तैँले आफ्ना व्यापारीहरूलाई आकाशका ताराहरूभन्दा पनि धेरै बनाएको छस्, तर तिनीहरू सलहहरूझैँ हुन्, तिनीहरूले भुमिलाई लुटेर उडिजान्छन् ।

You have increased your merchants more than the stars of the skies. The grasshopper strips, and flees away.

17 तेरा राजकुमारहरू सलहहरूझैँ धेरै छन्, र तेरा अधिकारीहरू सलहका बथानझैँ छन्, जो चिसो दिनमा पर्खालहरूमा बस्छन् । तर घाम उदाएपछि ती कहाँ उडेर जान्छन् भन्‍ने नै थाहा हुँदैन ।

Your guards are like the locusts, and your officials like the swarms of locusts, which settle on the walls on a cold day, but when the sun appears, they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

18 अश्शूरको राजा, तेरा गोठालाहरू सुतेका छन्, तेरा शासकहरू विश्राम गर्दै पल्टेका छन् । तेरा मानिसहरू पर्वतहरूमा छरिएका छन्, र तिनीहरूलाई त्यहाँ भेला गर्ने कोही छैन ।

Your shepherds slumber, king of Assyria. Your nobles lie down. Your people are scattered on the mountains, and there is no one to gather them.

19 तेरा घाउहरू निको हुँदैनन् । ती गहिरा छन् । तेरो विषयमा सुन्‍ने सबैले रमाहटले ताली बजाउँछन् । तेरो लगातारको दुष्‍टताबाट को भागेको छ र?

There is no healing your wound, for your injury is fatal. All who hear the report of you clap their hands over you; for who hasn't felt your endless cruelty?
