1 १ “प्रत्येक मनुष्यास पृथ्वीवर खूप कष्ट करावे लागतात की नाही? त्याचे आयुष्य मजुराच्या आयुष्यासारखे असते कि नाही?

2 २ गुलामाप्रमाणे मनुष्यास काम केल्यानंतर संध्याकाळी सावलीची गरज भासते. मनुष्य काम केल्यानंतर पगाराच्या दिवसाची वाट बघणाऱ्या मजुराप्रमाणे आहे.

3 ३ म्हणून माझे अनेक महीने हालअपेष्टातून गेले आहेत, माझ्या वाट्याला कष्टाचीच रात्र आली आहे.

7 ७ देवा, माझे आयुष्य म्हणजे केवळ श्वास आहे हे आठव, माझे नेत्र काही चांगले पाहणार नाही.

10 १० तो त्याच्या घरात कधीही परत येणार नाही. त्याची जागा त्यास ओळखणार नाही.

11 ११ तेव्हा मी गप्प बसणार नाही, मी माझ्या आत्म्याच्या क्लेशातून बोलेन, माझ्या जिवाच्या कडूपणातून मी बोलेन.

12 १२ तू माझ्यावर पहारा का करीत आहेस? मी समुद्र आहे का? किंवा समुद्री राक्षस आहे?

13 १३ माझे अंथरुणच मला स्वस्थता देऊ शकेल. माझा बिछानाच मला विश्रांती आणि स्वास्थ्य देईल.

14 १४ तेव्हा तू मला भयानक स्वप्नांनी घाबरवतोस. आणि तुझ्या दृष्टांतांनी मला भय वाटते.

15 १५ म्हणून जगण्यापेक्षा गुदमरुन मरणे मी पसंत करतो.

16 १६ मी माझ्या जीवनाचा तिरस्कार करतो. मी आशा सोडून दिली आहे. मला जगण्याची आसक्ती नाही. मला एकटा सोडून दे. माझ्या जीवनाला काही अर्थ नाही.

17 १७ मनुष्य तुला इतका महत्वाचा वाटतो, तू त्यास इतका आदर का दाखवावास, तू त्याची दखल तरी का घेतोस.

18 १८ तू त्यास रोज सकाळी का भेटतोस आणि क्षणाक्षणाला त्याची परीक्षा का घेतोस?

Thou visitist hym eerly, and sudeynli thou preuest hym.

19 १९ तू माझ्यावरची आपली नजर काढीत नाहीस, थुंकी गिळण्यासही तू मला वेळ देत नाहीस, असे कोठवर चालणार?

Hou long sparist thou not me, nether suffrist me, that Y swolowe my spotele?

20 २० तू लोकांवर नजर ठेवतोस. मी पाप केले असले तरी मी आता काय करु शकतो? तू मला तुझे लक्ष्य का बनवत आहेस, मी तुझ्यासाठी एक समस्या बनलो आहे का?

Y haue synned; A! thou kepere of men, what schal Y do to thee? Whi hast thou set me contrarie to thee, and Y am maad greuouse to my silf?

21 २१ तू मला माझ्या घोर अन्यायाची आणि माझा आज्ञाभंगाची क्षमा का करून टाकीत नाहीस? मी आता असाच धुळीत पडून राहणार तू नंतर माझा शोध घेशील पण मी अस्तित्वात नसेल.”
