1 १ हिज्कीया राजाच्या कारकिर्दीच्या चौदाव्या वर्षी अश्शूरचा राजा सन्हेरीब याने यहूदाच्या सर्व तटबंदी नगरांवर हल्ला केला, आणि त्यांचा ताबा घेतला.

11 ११ मग हिल्कीयाचा मुलगा एल्याकीम आणि शेबना व यवाह हे रब-शाकेला म्हणाले, “कृपया आपल्या सेवकाशी अरामी भाषेत बोल, कारण ती आम्हास समजते. कोटावरील लोकांस तुमचे बोलणे समजेल म्हणून तुम्ही आमच्याशी यहूदी भाषेत बोलू नका.”

15 १५ परमेश्वर आम्हास खात्रीने सोडवील; हे नगर अश्शूर राजाच्या हाती दिले जाणार नाही, असे बोलून हिज्कीयाने तुम्हास परमेश्वरावर भरवसा ठेवायला लावू नये.”

16 १६ हिज्कीयाचे ऐकू नका, कारण अश्शूरचा राजा असे म्हणतोः माझ्याशी शांतीचा करार करा आणि माझ्याकडे बाहेर या, नंतर प्रत्येकजण आपापल्या द्राक्षवेलाचे व आपापल्या अंजिराचे फळ खा आणि प्रत्येकजण आपल्या स्वत: च्या टाकीतले पाणी प्या.

18 १८ परमेश्वर आपल्याला सोडवील असे सांगून हिज्कीयाने तुम्हास चुकीचा मार्ग दाखवू नये. अश्शूर राज्याच्या सामर्थ्यापासून कोणत्या राष्ट्रातील देवाने आपल्या लोकांस सोडवीले आहे काय?
