१ तीम. 2

1 १ तर सर्वांत प्रथम मी हा बोध करतो की, मागण्या, प्रार्थना, विनंत्या व आभारप्रदर्शन सर्व लोकांसाठी कराव्या.

I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men;

2 २ आणि विशेषतः राजांकरता आणि जे मोठे अधिकारी आहेत त्या सर्वांकरीता प्रार्थना करा, यासाठी की आपण पूर्ण सुभक्तीत व गंभीरपणात शांतीचे व स्थिरपणाचे असे जीवन जगावे.

for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity.

3 ३ कारण हे आपल्या तारणाऱ्या देवाच्या दृष्टीने चांगले व स्वीकार करण्यास योग्य आहे,

This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 ४ त्याची इच्छा आहे की सर्व लोकांचे तारण व्हावे आणि त्यांनी खरेपणाच्या पूर्ण ज्ञानास पोहचावे.

who would have all men to be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth.

5 ५ कारण एकच देव आहे आणि देव व मनुष्य यांच्यामध्ये ख्रिस्त येशू हा मनुष्य एकच मध्यस्थ आहे.

For there is one God, one mediator also between God and men, [himself] man, Christ Jesus,

6 ६ त्याने सर्वांच्या खंडणीकरिता स्वतःला दिले. याविषयीची साक्ष योग्यवेळी देणे आहे.

who gave himself a ransom for all; the testimony [to be borne] in its own times;

7 ७ आणि या साक्षीचा प्रसार करण्यासाठी मला घोषणा करणारा आणि प्रेषित मी खरे सांगतो; खोटे सांगत नाही, असा परराष्ट्रीय लोकांमध्ये विश्वास आणि सत्याचा शिक्षक म्हणून नेमलेला आहे.

whereunto I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth, I lie not), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

8 ८ म्हणून माझी अशी इच्छा आहे की सर्व ठिकाणी पुरुषांनी राग व भांडण सोडून पवित्र हात वर करून प्रार्थना करावी.

I desire therefore that the men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and disputing.

9 ९ त्याचप्रमाणे, माझी अशी इच्छा आहे की, स्त्रियांनी स्वतःला केस गुंफणे, सोने किंवा मोती किंवा महाग कपडे यांनी नव्हे तर सभ्य वेशाने विनयाने व मर्यादेने सुशोभित करावे.

In like manner, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly raiment;

10 १० तसेच देवासाठी समर्पित जीवन जगणाऱ्या स्त्रियांना जसे शोभते, तसे स्वतःला चांगल्या कृत्यांनी सुशोभित करावे.

but (which becometh women professing godliness) through good works.

11 ११ स्त्रीने शांतपणे व पूर्ण अधीनतेने शिकावे.

Let a woman learn in quietness with all subjection.

12 १२ मी स्त्रीला शिकविण्याची परवानगी देत नाही किंवा पुरुषावर अधिकार गाजवण्यास परवानगी देत नाही. त्याऐवजी तिने शांत रहावे.

But I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have dominion over a man, but to be in quietness.

13 १३ कारण प्रथम आदाम निर्माण करण्यात आला त्यानंतर हव्वा.

For Adam was first formed, then Eve;

14 १४ आणि आदाम फसवला गेला नाही तर स्त्री फसवली गेली आणि ती पापात पडली.

and Adam was not beguiled, but the woman being beguiled hath fallen into transgression:

15 १५ तथापि मुलांना जन्म देण्याच्या वेळेस तिचे रक्षण होईल, ती मर्यादेने विश्वास, प्रीती व पवित्रपण यांमध्ये राहिल्यास हे होईल.

but she shall be saved through her child-bearing, if they continue in faith and love and sanctification with sobriety.
