< Luke 14 >

1 Nongma Potthaba Numit amada Jisuna Pharisee-singgi luchingba amagi mayumda chaklen chanaba lengsinba matamda misingna mahakpu kupna yenglammi.
One day--it was a Sabbath--He was taking a meal at the house of one of the Rulers of the Pharisee party, while they were closely watching Him.
2 Aduga mapham aduda phugamna naduna makhong makhut pomthokpa nupa ama Ibungogi nakta laklammi.
In front of Him was a man suffering from dropsy.
3 Maduda Jisuna Wayeng Yathanggi ojasing amadi Pharisee-sing aduda hanglak-i, “Potthaba Numitta anaba phahanbasi wayel yathangna yabra nattraga yadabra?”
This led Jesus to ask the lawyers and Pharisees, "Is it allowable to cure people on the Sabbath?"
4 Adubu maduda makhoina paokhum amata piramde. Aduga Ibungona nupa aduda khut thambiduna naba phahanbiraga thakhirammi.
They gave Him no answer; so He took hold of the man, cured him, and sent him away.
5 Adudagi Ibungona makhoida hanglak-i, “Nakhoi kanagumbagi nachanupa nattraga sal laba ama Potthaba Numitta komda tarabadi, nakhoina Potthaba Numit oirabasu khudak aduda madubu loukhatloidra?”
Then He turned to them and said, "Which of you shall have a child or an ox fall into a well on the Sabbath day, and will not immediately lift him out?"
6 Adubu wapham asida makhoina paokhum amata khumba ngamlamde.
To this they could make no reply.
7 Aduga chaklen aduda lenglaklibasing aduna ikaikhumnabasinggi phamphamsing adu khanba adu Jisuna ubada mahakna pandam ama piraduna hairak-i,
Then, when He noticed that the invited guests chose the best seats, He used this as an illustration and said to them,
8 “Kanagumbana nakhoibu luhongbagi chaklenda kourabadi ikaikhumnabasinggi phampham aduda phamganu maramdi nangondagi henna maruoiba mi ama thouramduda kourambasu yai?
"When any one invites you to a wedding banquet, do not take the best seat, lest perhaps some more honoured guest than you may have been asked,
9 Karigumba kouramlabadi, yumbu aduna laktuna nangonda haigani, ‘Phampham asida nupa asibu phamhansi.’ Maduda nangna ikaiba nangbaga loinanana hanthaba phamphamda amuk phamgani.
and the man who invited you both will come and will say to you, 'Make room for this guest,' and then you, ashamed, will move to the lowest place.
10 Madugi mahutta thouram yaobinaba nahakpu kourabadi, thoubu aduna laktuna nangongda, ‘Marup, henna phaba phampham asida kakhatpiyu’ haina hainanaba nahakna chattuna khwaidagi hanthaba phampham aduda phammu. Maduna chaklen aduda nahakka phamminariba pumnamakki mamangda nahakpu ikai khumnagani.
On the contrary, when you are invited go and take the lowest place, that when your host comes round he may say to you, 'My friend, come up higher.' This will be doing you honour in the presence of all the other guests.
11 Maramdi masana masabu chaohanjabasing adubu nollukhangani aduga masana nollukchabasing adubuna chaohanbigani.”
For whoever uplifts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be uplifted.
12 Adudagi Jisuna mahakpu lakpinaba koujariba yumbu aduda hairak-i, “Nahakna ayukki chaklen nattraga numidang charagidamak chakkouba matamda nahakki marup-mapang nachin nanao, sagei natei nattraga inakhunba yumlon keironnaba gi mibu kouganu maramdi makhoinasu nahakpu amuk kouraktuna nahakna toukhiba adugi laman hallakpasu yai.
Also to His host, who had invited Him, He said, "When you give a breakfast or a dinner, do not invite your friends or brothers or relatives or rich neighbours, lest perhaps they should invite you in return and a requital be made you.
13 Adubu nahakna chaklen langba matamda laira-anangsing, soinairabasing, khongtekpasing amadi mitangbasingbu kou.
But when you entertain, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind;
14 Aduga makhoina nangongda amuk laman singba ngamjadaba maramna nahak yaiphaba oijagani. Maramdi achumba chatpasingna hinggatpa numit aduda Tengban Mapuna nangongda amuk hanbigani.”
and you will be blessed, because they have no means of requiting you, but there will be requital for you at the Resurrection of the righteous."
15 Jisuga chaklen aduda phamminnariba amana madu tabada Jisuda hairak-i, “Tengban Mapugi leibakki chaklen aduda phamgadaba makhoising adu kayada yaiphaba!”
After listening to this teaching, one of His fellow guests said to Him, "Blessed is he who shall feast in God's Kingdom."
16 Maduda Jisuna mangonda hairak-i, “Kanagumba mi amana achouba chaklen ama langladuna mi mayam ama koujare.
"A man once gave a great dinner," replied Jesus, "to which he invited a large number of guests.
17 Aduga chaklen adugi matam laklabada, mahakna manaising tharaduna mahakna lakpinaba haijakhibasing aduda asumna haihankhi, ‘Lakpiro, pumnamak thourang touduna leire.’
At dinner-time he sent his servant to announce to those who had been invited, "'Come, for things are now ready.'
18 Adubu makhoi pumnamak chap manana leithokpa houraklammi. Ahanba aduna hairak-i, ‘Eina loubuk ama leisillure aduna eina chattuna madu yengluba tare; aduna eibu ngakpinaba haijari.’
"But they all without exception began to excuse themselves. The first told him, "'I have purchased a piece of land, and must of necessity go and look at it. Pray hold me excused.'
19 Atoppa amana amuk hairak-i, ‘Eina sal laba pabot manga leirure aduna madu chang yenglunaba ei chatlibani. Aduna eibu ngakpinaba haijari.’
"A second pleaded, "'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and am on my way to try them. Pray hold me excused.'
20 Adudagi atoppa amana amuk hairak-i, ‘Ei luhongbada ngairi, maram aduna ei lakpa ngamlaroi.’
"Another said, "'I am just married. It is impossible for me to come.'
21 Adudagi minai aduna handuna pumnamaksing asi mapu aduda tamlare. Maduda mapu aduna saoraduna mahakki minai aduda hairak-i, ‘Houjikmak sahargi lambi lambida aduga leirak leirakta thuna chattuna laira-anangsing, soinaibasing, mit-tangbasing amadi khongtekpasingbu mapham asida purak-u.’
"So the servant came and brought these answers to his master, and they stirred his anger. "'Go out quickly,' he said, 'into the streets of the city--the wide ones and the narrow. You will see poor men, and crippled, blind, lame: fetch them all in here.'
22 Madu pangthoklaba matungda minai aduna laktuna hairak-i, ‘Ibungo nahakna haibadu toujare adubu houjiksu mapham hangli.’
"Soon the servant reported the result, saying, "'Sir, what you ordered is done, and there is room still.'
23 Maduda mapu aduna minai aduda hairak-i, ‘Nakhoina khullakki lambising amadi leirak leirakta chattuna yum asi thannanaba misingbu mapham asida changhallak-u.
"'Go out,' replied the master, 'to the high roads and hedge-rows, and compel the people to come in, so that my house may be filled.
24 Eina nakhoi pumnamakta hairi, madudi eina hanna lakpinaba haijakhiba makhoi amatana chaklen asigi mahao tangba phangloi.’”
For I tell you that not one of those who were invited shall taste my dinner.'"
25 Adudagi yamlaba miyam ama Jisuga loinana chatminnarammi. Aduga Ibungona makhoida onsillaktuna hairak-i,
On His journey vast crowds attended Him, towards whom He turned and said,
26 “Eigi inakta lakpa mi amana mahakki mama-mapa, nupi-angang, machin-manao, machal-mache aduga masamakki punsidagi phaoba henna eibu nungsidragadi mahakna eigi tung-inba oiba ngamloi.
"If any one is coming to me who does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes and his own life also, he cannot be a disciple of mine.
27 Aduga kanagumba masagi crosspu pujadaba aduga eigi itung illaktaba mahak aduna eigi tung-inba oiba ngamloi.
No one who does not carry his own cross and come after me can be a disciple of mine.
28 Nakhoigi maraktagi kanagumba amana awangba yum ama saninglabadi nahakna phamthaduna madu saba loisinba phaobada konnagadaba nahakki sel leigadra haina changgadaba adu hanna pathokloidra?
"Which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not sit down first and calculate the cost, asking if he has the means to finish it? --
29 Maramdi nahakna madu toudragadi, yumphamdi hougatlaga awangba yum adu saba loisinba ngamloi; aduga madu awuba misingna nahakpu noknaduna haigani,
lest perhaps, when he has laid the foundation and is unable to finish, all who see it shall begin to jeer at him,
30 ‘Nahakna yum sabadi hougatlamlaga loisinbadi ngamdrene.’
saying, 'This man began to build, but could not finish.'
31 Aduga lanmi lising tara leiba ningthou amana lanmi lising kun puduna lakpa atoppa ningthou amaga lanthengnaba chatlabadi, chattringeigi mamangda mahakna ningthou aduga maiyoknaba ngamgadra haina mahakna hanna phamthaduna khantharoidra?
Or what king, marching to encounter another king in war, does not first sit down and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand men to meet the one who is advancing against him with twenty thousand?
32 Aduga mahakna maipakloidaba oiragadi, atoppa ningthou aduna lapna leiringeida karamba phibhamda ingthaba purakpa yagadage haina hangnabagidamak mahakki pao pubasingbu manakta thagani.
If not, while the other is still a long way off, he sends messengers and sues for peace.
33 Matou asigumna nakhoigi maraktagi kanagumbana mahakki areiba pumnamaksing adu hek thadoktriba makeidi mahakna eigi tung-inba oiba ngamloi.
Just as no one of you who does not detach himself from all that belongs to him can be a disciple of mine.
34 “Thumdi aphaba potni, adubu mahakna mahao mangkhrabadi madubu amuk karamna mahao leihangadage?
"Salt is good: but if even the salt has become tasteless, what will you use to season it?
35 Mahao yaodraba thumdi leibakkidamaksu aduga leihaogidamaksu karisu kannade. Amasung madu langthoknei. Tannanaba manakong panba mahak aduna tajasanu.”
Neither for land nor dunghill is it of any use; they throw it away. Listen, every one who has ears to listen with!"
