എബ്രായർ 4

1 ൧ അതുകൊണ്ട്, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിശ്രമത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുവാനുള്ള വാഗ്ദത്തം ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കയാൽ നിങ്ങളിൽ ആർക്കെങ്കിലും അത് ലഭിക്കാതെപോയി എന്നു വരാതിരിപ്പാൻ നാം ജാഗ്രതയുള്ളവരായിരിക്കുക.

We must, therefore, be very careful, though there is a promise still standing that we will enter upon God’s rest, that none of you even appear to have missed it.

2 ൨ അവരെപ്പോലെ നാമും ദൈവിക വിശ്രമത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഈ സദ് വാർത്ത കേട്ടവർ ആകുന്നു; എങ്കിലും കേട്ടവർ വിശ്വാസത്തോടെ അംഗീകരിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ട് കേട്ട സന്ദേശം അവർക്ക് ഉപകാരമായി തീർന്നില്ല.

For we have had the good news told us just as they had. But the message which they heard did them no good, since they did not share the faith of those who were attentive to it.

3 ൩ വിശ്വസിച്ചവരായ നാമല്ലോ വിശ്രമത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നത്; ലോകസ്ഥാപനത്തിങ്കൽ സൃഷ്ടികർമ്മങ്ങൾ പൂർത്തിയായ ശേഷവും: “അവർ എന്റെ വിശ്രമത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ എന്റെ കോപത്തിൽ സത്യംചെയ്തു” എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

Upon that rest we who have believed are now entering. As God has said – “In my wrath I swore – ‘They will never enter upon my rest;’” Although God’s work was finished at the creation of the world;

4 ൪ “ഏഴാം നാളിൽ ദൈവം തന്റെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തികളും പൂർത്തിയാക്കി വിശ്രമിച്ചു” എന്നു ഏഴാം നാളിനെക്കുറിച്ച് വേദഗ്രന്ഥത്തിൽ പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

for, in a passage referring to the seventh day, you will find these words – “God rested on the seventh day after all his work.”

5 ൫ “എന്റെ വിശ്രമത്തിൽ അവർ പ്രവേശിക്കയില്ല” എന്നു ഇവിടെ വീണ്ടും അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

On the other hand, we read in that passage – “They will never enter upon my rest.”

6 ൬ അതുകൊണ്ട് ചിലർ അതിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുവാൻ അവസരം ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കയാലും മുമ്പ് സദ് വാർത്ത കേട്ടവർ അനുസരണക്കേടുനിമിത്തം പ്രവേശിക്കാതെ പോകയാലും,

Since, then, there is still a promise that some will enter upon this rest, and since those who were first told the good news did not enter upon it, because of their disbelief,

7 ൭ മുമ്പ് ഉദ്ധരിച്ചതു പോലെ വളരെ കാലത്തിന് ശേഷം ദൈവം ദാവീദിലൂടെ, “ഇന്ന്” എന്നൊരു ദിവസം പിന്നെയും നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരിയ്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു; “ഇന്ന് അവന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേൾക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കരുത്” എന്ന് ദാവീദിലൂടെ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

again God fixed a day. “Today,” he said, speaking after a long interval through the mouth of David, in the passage already quoted – “If today you hear God’s voice harden not your hearts.”

8 ൮ യോശുവ അവരെ സ്വസ്ഥതയുള്ള ദേശത്ത് പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ദൈവം മറ്റൊരു ദിവസത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് വീണ്ടും പറയുകയില്ലായിരുന്നു.

Now if Joshua had given “rest” to the people, God would not have spoken of another and later day.

9 ൯ ആകയാൽ ദൈവജനത്തിന് ഒരു ശബ്ബത്തനുഭവം ലഭിക്കുവാനിരിക്കുന്നു.

There is, then, a Sabbath rest still awaiting God’s people.

10 ൧൦ ദൈവം തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളിൽനിന്നു വിമുക്തനായതു പോലെ അവന്റെ വിശ്രമത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ച ഏതൊരുവനും തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളിൽനിന്നു വിമുക്തനായിത്തീർന്ന് വിശ്രമിക്കുന്നു.

For the person who enters upon God’s rest do themselves rest after their work, just as God did.

11 ൧൧ അതുകൊണ്ട് നാം ആരും യിസ്രായേൽ ജനത ചെയ്തതുപോലുള്ള അനുസരണക്കേടിന്റെ അതേ അവസ്ഥയിൽ വീഴാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ആ ദൈവിക വിശ്രമത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുവാൻ ഉത്സാഹമുള്ളവരായിരിക്ക.

Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter upon that rest, so that none of us fall through such disbelief as that of which we have had an example.

12 ൧൨ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനം ജീവനും ചൈതന്യവുമുള്ളതായി ഇരുവായ്ത്തലയുള്ള ഏത് വാളിനേക്കാളും മൂർച്ചയേറിയതും ദേഹിയെ ആത്മാവിൽനിന്നും, സന്ധികളെ മജ്ജകളിൽനിന്നും വേർപിരിക്കുംവരെ തുളച്ചുചെല്ലുന്നതും ഹൃദയത്തിലെ ചിന്തകളെയും ഉദ്ദേശങ്ങളെയും വിവേചിച്ചറിയുന്നതും ആകുന്നു.

God’s message is a living and active power, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing its way until it penetrates soul and spirit – not the joints only but the marrow – and detecting the inmost thoughts and purposes of the mind.

13 ൧൩ അവന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയ്ക്ക് മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു സൃഷ്ടിയുമില്ല; സകലവും അവന്റെ കണ്ണിന് വ്യക്തവും, മറവില്ലാത്തതുമായി കിടക്കുന്നു; അങ്ങനെയുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിലാണു നാം കണക്ക് ബോദ്ധ്യപ്പെടുത്തേണ്ടത്.

There is no created thing that can hide itself from the sight of God. Everything is exposed and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we have to give account.

14 ൧൪ ആകയാൽ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്ക് ആരോഹണം ചെയ്ത ദൈവപുത്രനായ യേശു ശ്രേഷ്ഠമഹാപുരോഹിതനായി നമുക്കു ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ട് നാം നമ്മുടെ വിശ്വാസം മുറുകെപ്പിടിച്ചുകൊൾക.

We have, then, in Jesus, the Son of God, a great high priest who has passed into the highest heaven; let us, therefore, hold fast to the faith which we have professed.

15 ൧൫ നമുക്കുള്ള മഹാപുരോഹിതൻ നമ്മുടെ ബലഹീനതകളിൽ സഹതാപം കാണിക്കുവാൻ കഴിയാത്തവനല്ല; പകരം സർവ്വത്തിലും നമുക്കു തുല്യനായി പ്രലോഭിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടും പാപം ഇല്ലാത്തവനായിരുന്നു.

Our high priest is not one unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but one who has in every way been tempted, exactly as we have been, but without sinning.

16 ൧൬ അതുകൊണ്ട് കരുണ ലഭിപ്പാനും തത്സമയത്ത് സഹായത്തിനുള്ള കൃപ പ്രാപിക്കുവാനുമായി നാം ധൈര്യത്തോടെ കൃപാസനത്തിന് അടുത്തു ചെല്ലുക.

Therefore, let us draw near boldly to the throne of love, to find pity and love for the hour of need.
