1 ഈ സമയം ബോവസ് പട്ടണകവാടത്തിൽ എത്തി അവിടെയിരുന്നു. ബോവസ് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്ന വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരൻ അതുവഴി വന്നപ്പോൾ, അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “എന്റെ സുഹൃത്തേ, ഇങ്ങോട്ടുവന്ന് ഇവിടെ ഇരുന്നാലും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം ചെന്ന് അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.

Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.

2 ബോവസ് പട്ടണത്തലവന്മാരിൽ പത്തുപേരെ ക്ഷണിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്ന്, “ഇവിടെ ഇരുന്നാലും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, അവർ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു.

And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit all of you down here. And they sat down.

3 അതിനുശേഷം ബോവസ് വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരനോട്: “മോവാബിൽനിന്നും തിരികെവന്ന നവൊമി, നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരനായ എലീമെലെക്കിന്റെ വയൽ വിൽക്കുന്നു.

And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that has come again out of the country of Moab, sells a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:

4 ഈ വസ്തുത താങ്കളെ അറിയിക്കണമെന്നു ഞാൻ കരുതി. ഇവിടെ കൂടിവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന ജനത്തെയും എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ നേതാക്കന്മാരെയും സാക്ഷികളാക്കി താങ്കൾ അതുവാങ്ങണം എന്ന നിർദേശമാണുള്ളത്. താങ്കൾക്ക് വീണ്ടെടുക്കാൻ താത്പര്യമെങ്കിൽ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുക, വീണ്ടെടുക്കാൻ താത്പര്യമില്ലെങ്കിൽ അത് എന്നോടു വ്യക്തമാക്കിയാലും. നാം ഇരുവരുമൊഴികെ അതു വീണ്ടെടുക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശം മറ്റാർക്കുമില്ല; ഇതിൽ ആദ്യസ്ഥാനം താങ്കൾക്കും താങ്കൾക്കുശേഷം എനിക്കുമാണല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “ഞാൻ അതു വീണ്ടെടുക്കാം,” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.

And I thought to advertise you, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it: but if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside you; and I am after you. And he said, I will redeem it.

5 അപ്പോൾ ബോവസ്: “നവൊമിയിൽനിന്ന് ആ സ്ഥലം വാങ്ങുന്ന ദിവസം, വസ്തുവിന്മേൽ മരിച്ചയാളിന്റെ പേര് നിലനിർത്തേണ്ടതിന്, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വിധവയായ രൂത്ത് എന്ന മോവാബ്യസ്ത്രീയെയും വീണ്ടുകൊള്ളണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then said Boaz, What day you buy the field of the hand of Naomi, you must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

6 ഉടനെ ആ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരൻ: “അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ എനിക്കതു വീണ്ടെടുക്കാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല; അതിലൂടെ എനിക്കെന്റെ സ്വന്തം ഓഹരി നഷ്ടമാക്കേണ്ടിവരും. താങ്കൾതന്നെ അതു വീണ്ടെടുത്തുകൊള്ളുക. എനിക്കതിന് കഴിയുകയില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I ruin mine own inheritance: redeem you my right to yourself; for I cannot redeem it.

7 (മുൻകാലങ്ങളിൽ ഇസ്രായേലിൽ, വീണ്ടെടുപ്പും സ്ഥലകൈമാറ്റവും ഉറപ്പിക്കാൻ ഒരാൾ തന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൂരി മറ്റേയാൾക്ക് കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു. ഇങ്ങനെയായിരുന്നു ഇസ്രായേലിൽ കൈമാറ്റങ്ങൾക്ക് നിയമസാധുത വരുത്തിയിരുന്നത്.)

Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, in order to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.

8 അങ്ങനെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരൻ ബോവസിനോട്, “താങ്കൾതന്നെ അതു വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിനുശേഷം തന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൂരി ബോവസിന് കൊടുത്തു.

Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for you. So he drew off his shoe.

9 അപ്പോൾ ബോവസ് ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരോടും ചുറ്റുംനിന്ന ജനത്തോടും ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “എലീമെലെക്കിന്റെയും, കില്യോന്റെയും മഹ്ലോന്റെയും സകലസ്വത്തുക്കളും ഞാൻ നവൊമിയുടെ പക്കൽനിന്നും ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി എന്നതിനു നിങ്ങൾ ഇന്നു സാക്ഷികളാകുന്നു.

And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, All of you are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.

10 മരിച്ചയാളുടെ പേര് അയാളുടെ അവകാശത്തിന്മേൽ നിലനിർത്താൻ മഹ്ലോന്റെ വിധവയായ രൂത്ത് എന്ന മോവാബ്യസ്ത്രീയെയും ഞാൻ ഭാര്യയായി സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നു, ഇതിനാൽ, അവന്റെ പേര് അവന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിൽനിന്നോ അവന്റെ പട്ടണരേഖകളിൽനിന്നോ മാഞ്ഞുപോകുകയില്ല. നിങ്ങൾ ഇന്ന് അതിനു സാക്ഷികളുമാകുന്നു!”

Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: all of you are witnesses this day.

11 അപ്പോൾ ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരും അവിടെ കൂടിയിരുന്ന സകലരും, “ഞങ്ങൾ സാക്ഷികളാകുന്നു. നിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു വരുന്ന സ്ത്രീയെ യഹോവ ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹം പണിതവരായ റാഹേലിനെയും ലേയയെയുംപോലെ ആക്കട്ടെ. നീ എഫ്രാത്തയിൽ ആദരണീയനും ബേത്ലഹേമിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധനുമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do you worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:

12 യഹോവ ഈ സ്ത്രീയിൽ നിനക്കു നൽകുന്ന സന്തതിയാൽ നിന്റെ കുടുംബം താമാർ യെഹൂദയ്ക്കു പ്രസവിച്ച ഫേരെസിന്റേതുപോലെ ആകട്ടെ” എന്ന് ആശംസിച്ചു.

And let your house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give you of this young woman.

13 ഇങ്ങനെ ബോവസ് രൂത്തിനെ വിവാഹംകഴിച്ചു. അവൾ അവനു ഭാര്യയായി. അദ്ദേഹം അവളെ അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ, യഹോവ കരുണചെയ്തു. അവൾ ഗർഭവതിയായി, ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.

14 അപ്പോൾ സ്ത്രീകൾ നവൊമിയോട്: “നിനക്ക് ഇന്നൊരു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരനെ നൽകിയ യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടട്ടെ. ഇസ്രായേലിലൊക്കെയും ഈ പൈതൽ പ്രസിദ്ധനാകട്ടെ!

And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which has not left you this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.

15 അവൻ നിനക്കു പുതിയ ജീവൻ നൽകി, നിന്റെ വാർധക്യത്തിൽ നിന്നെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യട്ടെ. കാരണം ഏഴു പുത്രന്മാരെക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠയും നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവളുമായ നിന്റെ മരുമകൾ അവനു ജന്മം നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.”

And he shall be unto you a restorer of your life, and a nourisher of your old age: for your daughter in law, which loves you, which is better to you than seven sons, has born him.

16 അതിനുശേഷം നവൊമി പൈതലിനെ എടുത്തു, മടിയിൽ കിടത്തി അവനെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു.

And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.

17 അയൽവാസികളായ സ്ത്രീകൾ: “നവൊമിക്ക് ഒരു മകൻ ജനിച്ചു!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ അവന് ഓബേദ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. അവൻ ദാവീദിന്റെ പിതാവായ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ പിതാവ്.

And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

18 ഇതാണ് ഫേരെസിന്റെ വംശാവലി: ഫേരെസ് ഹെസ്രോന്റെ പിതാവ്,

Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez brings forth Hezron,

19 ഹെസ്രോൻ രാമിന്റെ പിതാവ്, രാം അമ്മീനാദാബിന്റെ പിതാവ്,

And Hezron brings forth Ram, and Ram brings forth Amminadab,

20 അമ്മീനാദാബ് നഹശോന്റെ പിതാവ്, നഹശോൻ സൽമോന്റെ പിതാവ്,

And Amminadab brings forth Nahshon, and Nahshon brings forth Salmon,

21 സൽമോൻ ബോവസിന്റെ പിതാവ്, ബോവസ് ഓബേദിന്റെ പിതാവ്,

And Salmon brings forth Boaz, and Boaz brings forth Obed,

22 ഓബേദ് യിശ്ശായിയുടെ പിതാവ്, യിശ്ശായി ദാവീദിന്റെ പിതാവ്.

And Obed brings forth Jesse, and Jesse brings forth David.
