എസ്രാ 8

1 അർഥഹ്ശഷ്ടാരാജാവിന്റെ ഭരണകാലത്ത് ബാബേലിൽനിന്ന് എന്നോടൊപ്പം വന്ന കുടുംബത്തലവന്മാരും അവരുടെ വംശാവലിയും ഇപ്രകാരമാണ്:

These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.

2 ഫീനെഹാസിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: ഗെർശോം; ഈഥാമാരിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: ദാനീയേൽ; ദാവീദിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: ശെഖന്യാവിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിലുള്ള ഹത്തൂശ്;

Of the sons of Phinehas; Gershom: of the sons of Ithamar; Daniel: of the sons of David; Hattush.

3 പരോശിന്റെ പിൻതുടർച്ചക്കാരിൽ: സെഖര്യാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം വംശാവലിയിൽ പേരുള്ള 150 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

Of the sons of Shechaniah, of the sons of Pharosh; Zechariah: and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males an hundred and fifty.

4 പഹത്ത്-മോവാബിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: സെരഹ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ എല്യോഹോവേനായിയും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ 200 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

Of the sons of Pahathmoab; Elihoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males.

5 സാത്തുവിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: യഹസീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ ശെഖന്യാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം 300 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males.

6 ആദീന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: യോനാഥാന്റെ മകനായ ഏബെദും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെകൂടെ 50 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

Of the sons also of Adin; Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.

7 ഏലാവിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: അഥല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ 70 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

And of the sons of Elam; Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males.

8 ശെഫത്യാവിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: മീഖായേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെബദ്യാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ 80 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

And of the sons of Shephatiah; Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him fourscore males.

9 യോവാബിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: യെഹീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ ഓബദ്യാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ 218 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

Of the sons of Joab; Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.

10 ബാനിയുടെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: യോസിഫ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ശെലോമീത്തും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ 160 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

And of the sons of Shelomith; the son of Josiphiah, and with him an hundred and threescore males.

11 ബേബായിയുടെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: ബേബായിയുടെ മകനായ സെഖര്യാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ 28 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

And of the sons of Bebai; Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty and eight males.

12 അസ്ഗാദിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: ഹക്കാതാന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാനും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം 110 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him an hundred and ten males.

13 അദോനീക്കാമിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളുടെ: അവസാനത്തേതിൽ, എലീഫേലെത്ത്, യെയീയേൽ, ശെമയ്യാവ് എന്നിവരും അവരോടൊപ്പം 60 പുരുഷന്മാരും;

And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them threescore males.

14 ബിഗ്വായുടെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ: ഊഥായിയും സക്കൂറും അവരോടുകൂടെ 70 പുരുഷന്മാരും.

Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.

15 അഹവായിലേക്കൊഴുകുന്ന നദിക്കരികെ ഞാൻ അവരെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; ഞങ്ങൾ അവിടെ മൂന്നുദിവസം താമസിച്ചു. ജനത്തിന്റെയും പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെയും ഇടയിൽ ഞാൻ പരിശോധിച്ചപ്പോൾ ലേവ്യരിൽ ആരെയും അവിടെ കണ്ടില്ല.

And I gathered them together to the river that runs to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.

16 അതിനാൽ ഞാൻ നേതാക്കന്മാരായ എലീയേസർ, അരീയേൽ, ശെമയ്യാവ്, എൽനാഥാൻ, യാരീബ്, എൽനാഥാൻ, നാഥാൻ, സെഖര്യാവ്, മെശുല്ലാം എന്നിവരെയും ജ്ഞാനികളായ യൊയാരീബ്, എൽനാഥാൻ എന്നിവരെയും വിളിച്ച്,

Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.

17 കാസിഫ്യാ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തെ നേതാവായ ഇദ്ദോവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിനു ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാരെ അയയ്ക്കേണ്ടതിന് ഇദ്ദോവിനോടും കാസിഫ്യായിലെ ദൈവാലയദാസന്മാരായ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടും എന്തു പറയണമെന്നും അവരെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു.

And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.

18 ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൃപയുടെ കൈ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് അനുകൂലമായിരുന്നതിനാൽ, ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ മകനായ ലേവിയുടെ മകനായ മഹ്ലിയുടെ പിൻഗാമികളിലുള്ള വിവേകമതിയായ ശേരെബ്യാവ്, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ, സഹോദരന്മാർ എന്നിവർ ചേർന്ന് പതിനെട്ടു പേരെയും

And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;

19 മെരാരിയുടെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ ഹശബ്യാവ്, അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം യെശയ്യാവ്, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർ, അനന്തരവർ, എന്നിവർ ചേർന്ന് ഇരുപതുപേരെയും അവർ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു,

And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;

20 ലേവ്യരെ സഹായിക്കുന്നതിനായി ദാവീദും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ഏർപ്പെടുത്തിയ ദൈവാലയദാസന്മാരിൽ 220 പേരെയും അവർ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. ഇവരുടെയെല്ലാം പേരുവിവരം രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.

21 ദൈവമുമ്പാകെ ഞങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ വിനയപ്പെടുത്തേണ്ടതിനും, സകലസമ്പാദ്യങ്ങളുമായുള്ള ഈ യാത്രയിൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ കുട്ടികളുടെയും സുരക്ഷിതത്വത്തിനുവേണ്ടി യാചിക്കേണ്ടതിനും അഹവാനദിക്കരികെ ഞാൻ ഒരു ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തി.

Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

22 “തന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്ന ഏതൊരാളുടെയുംമേൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കരുണയുള്ള കൈ ഉണ്ട്; തന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നവരുടെ നേരേ അവിടത്തെ മഹാകോപം ഉയരും,” എന്നു രാജാവിനോടു ഞങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ, വഴിയിൽ ശത്രുക്കളിൽനിന്നും ഞങ്ങളെ സഹായിക്കേണ്ടതിന് രാജാവിനോട് പടയാളികളെയും കുതിരകളെയും ചോദിക്കാൻ ഞാൻ ലജ്ജിച്ചു.

For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.

23 അതിനാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ഉപവസിച്ച് ഞങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തോട് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അവിടന്ന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാർഥന കേട്ടു.

So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was implored of us.

24 പിന്നെ ഞാൻ പുരോഹിതരുടെ പ്രധാനികളിൽനിന്ന് ശേരെബ്യാവിനെയും ഹശബ്യാവിനെയും അവരോടൊപ്പം അവരുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരിൽനിന്ന് പത്തുപേരെയും, ഇങ്ങനെ പന്ത്രണ്ടുപേരെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,

25 രാജാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മന്ത്രിമാരും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും അവിടെയുള്ള ഇസ്രായേൽ എല്ലാവരും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിനുവേണ്ടി സംഭാവനചെയ്ത സ്വർണവും വെള്ളിയും ഉപകരണങ്ങളും ഞാൻ അവർക്കു തൂക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.

And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:

26 അറുനൂറ്റി അൻപതു താലന്തു വെള്ളി, നൂറു താലന്തു തൂക്കം വരുന്ന വെള്ളി ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ, നൂറു താലന്തു സ്വർണം,

I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;

27 ആയിരം തങ്കക്കാശു വിലവരുന്ന ഇരുപതു സ്വർണപ്പാത്രങ്ങൾ, സ്വർണത്തോളം വിലവരുന്ന, നല്ല മിനുക്കിയ വെങ്കലംകൊണ്ടുള്ള രണ്ടു പാത്രങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ഞാൻ അവർക്കു തൂക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.

Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.

28 ഞാൻ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയ്ക്കു വിശുദ്ധർ; ഈ ഉപകരണങ്ങളും വിശുദ്ധം. ഈ സ്വർണവും വെള്ളിയും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയ്ക്കുള്ള സ്വമേധായാഗമാണ്.

And I said unto them, All of you are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.

29 ജെറുശലേമിൽ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ അറകളിലേക്ക് ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ പ്രധാനികൾക്കും ലേവ്യർക്കും ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാർക്കും ഇവ തൂക്കി ഏൽപ്പിക്കുന്നതുവരെ നല്ലവണ്ണം സംരക്ഷിക്കണം.”

Watch all of you, and keep them, until all of you weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.

30 അങ്ങനെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ലേവ്യരും, തങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിയേൽപ്പിച്ച വെള്ളിയും സ്വർണവും ഉപകരണങ്ങളും ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി. അവ ജെറുശലേമിൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.

31 ഒന്നാംമാസം പന്ത്രണ്ടാംതീയതി, ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കു പോകുന്നതിനായി ഞങ്ങൾ അഹവാനദീതീരത്തുനിന്ന് യാത്രതിരിച്ചു. ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൈ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് അനുകൂലമായിരുന്നതിനാൽ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നും വഴിയിലെ കൊള്ളക്കാരിൽനിന്നും അവിടന്ന് ഞങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു.

Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.

32 അങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങൾ ജെറുശലേമിൽ എത്തിച്ചേർന്നു, അവിടെ മൂന്നുദിവസം ഞങ്ങൾ വിശ്രമിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.

33 നാലാംദിവസം നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിൽവെച്ച് ഞങ്ങൾ ആ വെള്ളിയും സ്വർണവും വിശുദ്ധ ഉപകരണങ്ങളും ഊരിയാ പുരോഹിതന്റെ മകൻ മെരേമോത്തിന്റെ കൈയിൽ തൂക്കി ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം ഫീനെഹാസിന്റെ മകൻ എലെയാസാരും, അവരുടെകൂടെ യേശുവയുടെ മകൻ യോസാബാദ്, ബിന്നൂവിയുടെ മകൻ നോവദ്യാവ് എന്നീ ലേവ്യരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;

34 എല്ലാറ്റിന്റെയും എണ്ണവും തൂക്കവും നോക്കി, മുഴുവൻ തൂക്കവും അപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.

35 ബന്ധനത്തിൽനിന്നു മടങ്ങിയ പ്രവാസികൾ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിനു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങൾ അർപ്പിച്ചു. എല്ലാ ഇസ്രായേലിനുംവേണ്ടി പന്ത്രണ്ടു കാളയെയും തൊണ്ണൂറ്റിയാറ് ആട്ടുകൊറ്റൻ, എഴുപത്തേഴ് ആൺകുഞ്ഞാട് എന്നിവയെയും പാപശുദ്ധീകരണയാഗമായി പന്ത്രണ്ടു മുട്ടാടുകളെയും അർപ്പിച്ചു. ഇവയെല്ലാം യഹോവയ്ക്കു ഹോമയാഗമായിരുന്നു.

Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.

36 രാജാവിന്റെ ആജ്ഞകൾ അവർ യൂഫ്രട്ടീസ് നദിക്കിക്കരെയുള്ള രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രതിനിധികൾക്കും ദേശാധിപതിമാർക്കും കൈമാറി; അവർ ജനത്തിനും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിനും ആവശ്യമായ സഹായം ചെയ്തുതന്നു.

And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.
