2 ദിനവൃത്താന്തം 32

1 ഹിസ്കിയാവ് ഇതെല്ലാം ഏറ്റവും വിശ്വസ്തതയോടെ ചെയ്തുകഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബ് വന്ന് യെഹൂദയെ ആക്രമിച്ചു. സുരക്ഷിതനഗരങ്ങളെ ജയിച്ചടക്കാമെന്നു വ്യാമോഹിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം അവയ്ക്ക് ഉപരോധം ഏർപ്പെടുത്തി.

And after these things and this faithful dealing, came Sennacherim king of the Assyrians, and he came to Juda, and encamped against the fortified cities, and intended to take them for himself.

2 സൻഹേരീബ് വന്നെത്തിയെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം ജെറുശലേമിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്യാൻ ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നെന്നും കണ്ടപ്പോൾ

And Ezekias saw that Sennacherim was come, and [that] his face [was set] to fight against Jerusalem.

3 ഹിസ്കിയാവ് തന്റെ ഉന്നതോദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെയും സൈന്യാധിപന്മാരെയും വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; അരുവികളിലൂടെ നഗരത്തിനു വെളിയിലേക്കുള്ള നീരൊഴുക്കു തടയുന്നതിന് ആലോചിച്ചുറച്ചു. അവർ അക്കാര്യത്തിൽ രാജാവിനെ സഹായിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

And he took counsel with his elders and his mighty [men] to stop the wells of water which were without the city: and they helped him.

4 അസംഖ്യം ആളുകളുള്ള ഒരു സൈന്യം ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി. സകല ഉറവുകളും ദേശത്തിലൂടെയുള്ള നീരൊഴുക്കുകളും അവർ അടച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു. “അശ്ശൂർ രാജാക്കന്മാർക്കു സമൃദ്ധമായി വെള്ളം കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതെന്തിന്?” എന്ന് അവർ നിരൂപിച്ചു.

And he collected many people, and stopped the wells of water, and the river that flowed through the city, saying, Lest the king of Assyria come, and find much water, and strengthen [himself].

5 കോട്ടയുടെ ഉടഞ്ഞഭാഗങ്ങൾ നന്നാക്കുന്നതിനും അതിന്മേൽ ഗോപുരങ്ങൾ പണിയുന്നതിനും അദ്ദേഹം അത്യധ്വാനം ചെയ്തു. കോട്ടയ്ക്കുചുറ്റും മറ്റൊരു മതിൽകൂടി അദ്ദേഹം പണിയിച്ചു; കൂടാതെ, ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിലെ മുകൾത്തട്ടു ബലപ്പെടുത്തി. അസംഖ്യം ആയുധങ്ങളും പരിചകളും അദ്ദേഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കിച്ചു.

And Ezekias strengthened [himself], and built all the wall that had been pulled down, and the towers, and another wall in front without, and fortified the strong place of the city of David, and prepared arms in abundance.

6 അദ്ദേഹം ജനത്തിനു പടനായകന്മാരെ നിയമിച്ചു. അവരെ നഗരകവാടത്തിലുള്ള വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു തന്റെമുമ്പാകെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തുകയും പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുംവിധം ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുകയും ചെയ്തു:

And he appointed captains of war over the people, and they were gathered to [meet] him to the open place of the gate of the valley, and he encouraged them, saying,

7 “ശക്തരും ധീരരുമായിരിക്കുക! അശ്ശൂർരാജാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വിപുലസൈന്യവുംമൂലം നിങ്ങൾ സംഭീതരോ ധൈര്യഹീനരോ ആകരുത്. എന്തെന്നാൽ, അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ ഉള്ളതിനെക്കാൾ മഹത്തായ ഒരു ശക്തി നമ്മോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ട്.

Be strong and courageous, and fear not, neither be dismayed before the King of Assyria, and before all the nation that [is] with him: for [there are] more with us than with him.

8 അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ വെറും സൈന്യബലമേയുള്ളൂ; നമ്മോടുകൂടെയാകട്ടെ, നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുണ്ട്. നമ്മെ സഹായിക്കാനും നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധംചെയ്യുന്നതിനും അവിടന്ന് നമ്മോടുകൂടെയുണ്ട്.” യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കിയാവിന്റെ ഈ വാക്കുകൾമൂലം ജനം ആത്മവിശ്വാസം വീണ്ടെടുത്തു.

With him [are] arms of flesh; but with us [is] the Lord our God to save [us], and to fight our battle. And the people were encouraged at the words of Ezekias king of Juda.

9 പിന്നീട് അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സൈന്യങ്ങളും ലാഖീശിനെ ഉപരോധിച്ച് താവളമടിച്ചുകിടന്നിരുന്നപ്പോൾ, യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കിയാവിനും അവിടെയുള്ള സകല യെഹൂദ്യജനതയ്ക്കുമുള്ള സന്ദേശവുമായി അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരെ ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കയച്ചു:

And afterward Sennacherim king of the Assyrians sent his servants to Jerusalem; and [he went] himself against Lachis, and all his army with him, and sent to Ezekias king of Juda, and to all Juda that [was] in Jerusalem, saying,

10 “അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബ് ഇപ്രകാരം അറിയിക്കുന്നു: ജെറുശലേമിന് എതിരേയുള്ള ഉപരോധത്തെ ചെറുത്ത് അവിടെ നിലനിൽക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ആത്മവിശ്വാസം നിങ്ങൾക്കുണ്ടോ? നിങ്ങൾ എന്തിലാണ് ആശ്രയം വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്?

Thus says Sennacherim king of the Assyrians, On what do ye trust, that ye will remain in the siege in Jerusalem?

11 ‘നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമ്മെ അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കും,’ എന്നു ഹിസ്കിയാവ് പറയുമ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം നിങ്ങളെ വഴിതെറ്റിക്കുകയാണ്; വിശപ്പും ദാഹവുംമൂലം നിങ്ങൾ ചത്തൊടുങ്ങാൻ വഴിയൊരുക്കുകയാണ്.

Does not Ezekias deceive you, to deliver you to death and famine and thirst, saying, The Lord our God will deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

12 ‘നിങ്ങൾ ഒരേയൊരു യാഗപീഠത്തിൽ ആരാധിക്കുകയും യാഗങ്ങൾ അർപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യണം,’ എന്ന് യെഹൂദയോടും ഇസ്രായേലിനോടും പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് ഈ ദേവന്മാരുടെ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളും ബലിപീഠങ്ങളും എല്ലാം ഹിസ്കിയാവ് നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞില്ലേ?

Is not this Ezekias who has taken down his altars and his high places and has spoken to Juda and the dwellers in Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before this altar and burn incense upon it?

13 “മറ്റു ദേശങ്ങളിലെ സകലജനങ്ങളോടും ഞാനും എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരും ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്ന് നിങ്ങൾ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കണം? എന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്ന് തങ്ങളുടെ ദേശത്തെ വിടുവിക്കാൻ ആ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലെ ദേവന്മാർക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

Know ye not what I and my fathers have done to all the nations of the countries? Could the gods of the nations of all the earth at all rescue their people out of my hand?

14 എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ നശിപ്പിച്ച ഈ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലെ ദേവന്മാരിൽ ആർക്കെങ്കിലും എന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ ജനത്തെ രക്ഷിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടോ? പിന്നെങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന് നിങ്ങളെ എന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കാൻ കഴിയും?

Who is there among all the gods of those nations whom my fathers utterly destroyed, [worthy of trust]? Could they deliver their people out of my hand, that your God should deliver you out of my hand?

15 ആകയാൽ, ഇപ്പോൾ ഹിസ്കിയാവ് നിങ്ങളെ ഈ വിധം ചതിക്കാനും വഴിതെറ്റിക്കാനും ഇടകൊടുക്കരുത്. നിങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വിശ്വസിക്കരുത്; കാരണം യാതൊരു രാഷ്ട്രത്തിന്റെയോ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെയോ ഒരു ദേവനും എന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നോ എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ കൈയിൽനിന്നോ തങ്ങളുടെ ജനത്തെ മോചിപ്പിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ, എന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നു നിങ്ങളെ വിടുവിക്കാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന് ഒട്ടും കഴിയുകയില്ല!”

Now then, let not Ezekias deceive you, and let him not make you thus confident, and believe him not: for no god of any kingdom or nation is at all able to deliver his people out of my hand, or the hand of my fathers: therefore your God shall not deliver you out of my hand.

16 ദൈവമായ യഹോവയ്ക്കും അവിടത്തെ ദാസനായ ഹിസ്കിയാവിനും എതിരായി സൻഹേരീബിന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ വീണ്ടും വളരെയേറെ നിന്ദാവാക്കുകൾ ചൊരിഞ്ഞു.

And his servants continued to speak against the Lord God, and against his servant Ezekias.

17 “മറ്റു ദേശങ്ങളിലെ ജനങ്ങളുടെ ദേവന്മാർ എന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്ന് അവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചില്ല; അതുപോലെ ഹിസ്കിയാവിന്റെ ദൈവവും എന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നു തന്റെ ജനത്തെ രക്ഷിക്കുകയില്ല,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ അധിക്ഷേപിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് രാജാവും കത്തുകൾ എഴുതി.

And he wrote a letter to reproach the Lord God of Israel, and spoke concerning him, saying, As the gods of the nations of the earth have not delivered their people out of my hand, so the God of Ezekias shall by no means deliver his people out of my hand.

18 മതിലിന്മേൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളോട് അവർ അത് എബ്രായഭാഷയിൽ ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു. അവരെ സംഭ്രാന്തരും ആശങ്കാകുലരുമാക്കി നഗരം പിടിച്ചെടുക്കാൻവേണ്ടിയായിരുന്നു ഇത്.

And he cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language to the people of Jerusalem on the wall, [calling them] to assist them, and pull down [the walls], that they might take the city.

19 ഭൂതലത്തിലെ അന്യ ദേവന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ച്—മനുഷ്യരുടെ കൈകളാൽ നിർമിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരെക്കുറിച്ച്—സംസാരിച്ചതുപോലെ അവർ ജെറുശലേമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെക്കുറിച്ചും സംസാരിച്ചു.

And he spoke against the God of Jerusalem, even as against the gods of the nations of the earth, the works of the hands of men.

20 ഇതുനിമിത്തം ഹിസ്കിയാരാജാവും ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകനും പ്രാർഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് സ്വർഗത്തിലേക്കു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

And king Ezekias and Esaias the prophet the son of Amos prayed concerning these things, and they cried to heaven.

21 യഹോവ ഒരു ദൈവദൂതനെ അയച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ പാളയത്തിലെ സകലശൂരയോദ്ധാക്കളെയും സൈന്യാധിപന്മാരെയും അധിപതിമാരെയും സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ സൻഹേരീബ് അപമാനിതനായി സ്വന്തനാട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങി. അദ്ദേഹം അവിടെ തന്റെ ദേവന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെതന്നെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ചിലർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വാളിനിരയാക്കി.

And the Lord sent an angel, and he destroyed every mighty man and warrior, and leader and captain in the camp of the king of Assyria: and he returned with shame of face to his own land and came into the house of his god: and [some] of them that came out of his bowels slew him with the sword.

22 അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ ഹിസ്കിയാവിനെയും ജെറുശലേം ജനതയെയും അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബിന്റെയും മറ്റെല്ലാവരുടെയും കൈയിൽനിന്നു രക്ഷിച്ചു. അവിടന്ന് അവർക്ക് ചുറ്റുപാടും സ്വസ്ഥതനൽകി.

So the Lord delivered Ezekias and the dwellers in Jerusalem out of the hand of Sennacherim King of Assyria, and out of the hand of all [his enemies], and gave them rest round about.

23 പലരും ജെറുശലേമിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കു നേർച്ചകളും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കിയാവിന് വിലപിടിച്ച സമ്മാനങ്ങളും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അന്നുമുതൽ അദ്ദേഹം സകലരാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളുടെയും ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ വളരെ ആദരണീയനായിത്തീർന്നു.

And many brought gifts to the Lord to Jerusalem, and presents to Ezekias king of Juda; and he was exalted in the eyes of all the nations after these things.

24 അക്കാലത്ത് ഹിസ്കിയാവ് രോഗംബാധിച്ച് മരണാസന്നനായിത്തീർന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം യഹോവയോടു പ്രാർഥിച്ചു; യഹോവ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രാർഥനയ്ക്കുത്തരമരുളുകയും അത്ഭുതകരമായ ചിഹ്നം അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു നൽകുകയും ചെയ്തു.

In those days Ezekias was sick even to death, and prayed to the Lord: and he hearkened to him, and gave him a sign.

25 എന്നാൽ ഹിസ്കിയാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം നിഗളിച്ചു; അദ്ദേഹം തനിക്കു ലഭിച്ച കാരുണ്യത്തിന് ദൈവത്തോടു നന്ദിയുള്ളവനായിരുന്നില്ല. അതിനാൽ യഹോവയുടെ ക്രോധം അദ്ദേഹത്തിനും യെഹൂദയ്ക്കും ജെറുശലേമിനുംനേരേയുണ്ടായി.

But Ezekias did not recompense the Lord according to the return which he made him, but his heart was lifted up: and wrath came upon him, and upon Juda and Jerusalem.

26 അപ്പോൾ ഹിസ്കിയാവ് തന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ നിഗളത്തെപ്പറ്റി അനുതപിച്ചു. ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളും അനുതപിച്ചു. അതിനാൽ ഹിസ്കിയാവിന്റെകാലത്ത് യഹോവയുടെ ക്രോധം അവരുടെമേൽ പതിച്ചില്ല.

And Ezekias humbled himself after the exaltation of his heart, he and the dwellers in Jerusalem; and the wrath of the Lord did not come upon them in the days of Ezekias.

27 ഹിസ്കിയാവിന് അനവധി ധനവും മാനവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. തനിക്കുള്ള വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും വിലയേറിയ രത്നങ്ങളും സുഗന്ധദ്രവ്യങ്ങളും പരിചകളും എല്ലാവിധമായ വിലപിടിപ്പുള്ള വസ്തുക്കളും സൂക്ഷിക്കാനായി അദ്ദേഹം ഭണ്ഡാരങ്ങൾ നിർമിച്ചു.

And Ezekias had wealth and very great glory: and he made for himself treasuries of gold, and silver, and precious stones, also for spices, and stores for arms, and for precious vessels;

28 ധാന്യം, വീഞ്ഞ്, ഒലിവെണ്ണ എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് സംഭരണശാലകളും കന്നുകാലികൾക്കു തൊഴുത്തുകളും ആട്ടിൻപറ്റങ്ങൾക്ക് ആലകളും അദ്ദേഹം പണിയിച്ചു.

and cities for the produce of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls and mangers for every [kind of] cattle, and folds for flocks;

29 ദൈവം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ധാരാളമായി ധനം നൽകിയിരുന്നതിനാൽ അദ്ദേഹം സ്വന്തമായി പട്ടണങ്ങളും ആട്ടിൻപറ്റങ്ങളും കാലിക്കൂട്ടങ്ങളും സമ്പാദിച്ചു.

and cities which he built for himself, and store of sheep and oxen in abundance, for the Lord gave him a very great store.

30 ഗീഹോൻ ജലപ്രവാഹത്തിന്റെ മുകളിലത്തെ നീരൊഴുക്കു തടഞ്ഞ് അതിനെ താഴേ, ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിന്റെ പടിഞ്ഞാറുഭാഗത്തേക്ക് ഒഴുക്കിയത് ഈ ഹിസ്കിയാവായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം ഏറ്റെടുത്ത സകലകാര്യങ്ങളിലും വിജയംകൈവരിച്ചു.

The same Ezekias stopped up the course of the water of Gion above, and brought the water down straight south of the city of David. And Ezekias prospered in all his works.

31 എന്നാൽ ദേശത്തു സംഭവിച്ച വിസ്മയകരമായ അടയാളത്തെപ്പറ്റി ചോദിച്ചറിയുന്നതിന് ബാബേൽ ഭരണാധികാരികൾ ദൗത്യസംഘത്തെ അയച്ചപ്പോൾ സ്വന്തം ഇഷ്ടമനുസരിച്ചു പ്രവർത്തിക്കാൻ ദൈവം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുവദിച്ചു. ഇത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഉള്ളറിയുന്നതിനും അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനുംവേണ്ടിയായിരുന്നു.

Notwithstanding, in regard to the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who were sent to him to enquire of him [concerning] the prodigy which came upon the land, the Lord left him, to try him, to know what was in his heart.

32 ഹിസ്കിയാവിന്റെ ഭരണത്തിലെ മറ്റുസംഭവങ്ങളും ദൈവഭക്തിയിൽ അധിഷ്ഠിതമായ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളും എല്ലാം ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ ദർശനങ്ങളിലും യെഹൂദ്യയിലെയും ഇസ്രായേലിലെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തിലും എഴുതപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

And the rest of the acts of Ezekias, and his kindness, behold, they are written in the prophecy of Esaias the son of Amos the prophet, and in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel.

33 ഹിസ്കിയാവ് നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ച് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോട് ചേർന്നു; ദാവീദിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറകൾ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന കുന്നിൽ അദ്ദേഹം സംസ്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. അദ്ദേഹം മരിച്ചപ്പോൾ യെഹൂദ്യയിലെയും ജെറുശലേമിലെയും ജനങ്ങളെല്ലാം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആദരിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകനായ മനശ്ശെ തുടർന്നു രാജാവായി.

And Ezekias slept with his fathers, and they buried him in a high place among the sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Juda and the dwellers in Jerusalem gave him glory and honour at his death. And Manasses his son reigned in his stead.
