1 കൊരിന്ത്യർ 14
1 സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെ മാർഗം അവലംബിക്കുക; ആത്മാവിന്റെ ദാനങ്ങൾ, വിശേഷാൽ, പ്രവചനദാനം അഭിവാഞ്ഛിക്കുക.
Seek this love earnestly, and strive for spiritual gifts, above all for the gift of preaching.
2 അജ്ഞാതഭാഷയിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നവർ മനുഷ്യരോടല്ല, ദൈവത്തോടാണ് സംസാരിക്കുന്നത്. അവർ പറയുന്നത് ആരും ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല; അവർ ആത്മാവിൽ ദൈവികരഹസ്യങ്ങൾ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.
The person who, when speaking, uses the gift of “tongues” is speaking, not to people, but to God, for no one understands them; yet in spirit they are speaking of hidden truths.
3 എന്നാൽ പ്രവചിക്കുന്നവൻ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ആത്മികോന്നതിക്കും പ്രോത്സാഹനത്തിനും ആശ്വാസത്തിനുമായി സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.
But those who preach are speaking to their fellow men and women words that will build up faith, and give them comfort and encouragement.
4 അജ്ഞാതഭാഷയിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നയാൾ സ്വന്തം ആത്മികോന്നതി വരുത്തുന്നു; പ്രവചിക്കുന്നയാളോ, സഭയ്ക്കാണ് ആത്മികോന്നതി വരുത്തുന്നത്.
Those who, when speaking, use the gift of “tongues” builds up their own faith, while those who preach build up the faith of the church.
5 നിങ്ങൾക്കെല്ലാം അജ്ഞാതഭാഷകളിൽ സംസാരിക്കാൻ കഴിയണമെന്ന് എനിക്ക് ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ട്; എന്നാൽ, അതിലുപരി ഞാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നത്, നിങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രവചിക്കാൻ കഴിയണമെന്നാണ്. അജ്ഞാതഭാഷകളിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു സഭയുടെ ആത്മികോന്നതിക്കായി വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കപ്പെടണം, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അജ്ഞാതഭാഷകളിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നവരെക്കാൾ പ്രവചിക്കുന്നവനാണു ശ്രേഷ്ഠൻ.
Now I want you all to speak in “tongues,” but much more I wish that you should preach. A preacher is worth more than one who speaks in “tongues,” unless they interprets their words, so that the faith of the church may be built up.
6 സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കായി എന്തെങ്കിലും വെളിപ്പാടോ ജ്ഞാനമോ പ്രവചനമോ പ്രബോധനമോ നൽകുന്നതിനു പകരം, നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന് അജ്ഞാതഭാഷകളിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എന്തു പ്രയോജനം?
This being so, friends, what good will I do you, if I come to you and speak in “tongues,” unless my words convey some revelation, or knowledge, or take the form of preaching or teaching?
7 കുഴൽ, വീണ മുതലായ നിർജീവവാദ്യങ്ങളുടെ കാര്യത്തിൽപോലും, അവ വിവിധ ശ്രുതികൾ പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കാതിരുന്നാൽ ഊതിയതും മീട്ടിയതും ഏതു രാഗമെന്ന് എങ്ങനെ അറിയും?
Even with inanimate things, such as a flute or a harp, though they produce sounds, yet unless the notes are quite distinct, how can the tune played on the flute or the harp be recognised?
8 കാഹളം അവ്യക്തനാദം പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചാൽ യുദ്ധത്തിന് ആരെങ്കിലും തയ്യാറാകുമോ?
If the bugle sounds a doubtful call, who will prepare for battle?
9 അങ്ങനെതന്നെ, നിങ്ങളും അജ്ഞാതഭാഷയിൽ അവ്യക്തവാക്കുകൾ സംസാരിച്ചാൽ, നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നതെന്തെന്ന് മറ്റുള്ളവർ എങ്ങനെ ഗ്രഹിക്കും? നിങ്ങൾ വെറുതേ വായുവിനോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നവരെപ്പോലെ ആകും!
And so with you; unless, in using the gift of “tongues,” you utter intelligible words, how can what you say be understood? You will be speaking to the winds!
10 ലോകത്തിൽ വിവിധതരം ഭാഷകൾ ഉണ്ട്, എന്നാൽ അവയിൽ ഒന്നുപോലും നിരർഥകമല്ല.
There are, for instance, a certain number of different languages in the world, and not one of them fails to convey meaning.
11 ഒരാൾ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ അർഥം എനിക്കു ഗ്രഹിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ, അയാൾക്കു ഞാനും അയാൾ എനിക്കും വിദേശിയായിരിക്കും.
If, however, I do not happen to know the language, I will be a foreigner to those who speak it, and they will be foreigners to me.
12 നിങ്ങളെ സംബന്ധിച്ചും ഇങ്ങനെതന്നെ. നിങ്ങൾ ആത്മികദാനങ്ങൾ അഭിലഷിക്കുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ; എങ്കിൽ സഭയുടെ പുരോഗതിക്കുതകുന്ന ദാനങ്ങളിൽ മികവു നേടുക.
And so with you; since you are striving for spiritual gifts, be eager to excel in such as will build up the faith of the church.
13 അതുകൊണ്ട് അജ്ഞാതഭാഷയിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നവൻ അയാൾ പറയുന്നതു വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കാനുള്ള കഴിവിനുവേണ്ടിയും പ്രാർഥിക്കണം.
Therefore anyone who, when speaking, uses the gift of “tongues” should pray for ability to interpret them.
14 ഞാൻ അജ്ഞാതഭാഷയിൽ പ്രാർഥിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ എന്റെ ആത്മാവുമാത്രം പ്രാർഥിക്കുന്നു, എന്റെ ബുദ്ധിയോ ഫലരഹിതമായിരിക്കുന്നു.
If, when praying, I use the gift of “tongues,” my spirit indeed prays, but my mind is a blank.
15 അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ എന്താണ് കരണീയം? ഞാൻ ആത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു പ്രാർഥിക്കും, ബുദ്ധികൊണ്ടും പ്രാർഥിക്കും; ആത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു പാടും, ബുദ്ധികൊണ്ടും പാടും.
What, then, is my conclusion? Simply this – I will pray with my spirit, but with my mind as well; I will sing with my spirit, but with my mind as well.
16 ആത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു നീ ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിക്കുമ്പോൾ ആ സ്ഥലത്ത് സന്നിഹിതനായിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു അന്വേഷകൻ നിന്റെ സ്തോത്രാർപ്പണത്തിന് എങ്ങനെ “ആമേൻ” പറയും? നീ പറയുന്നത് അയാൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നില്ലല്ലോ?
If you bless God with your spirit only, how can people in the congregation who are without your gift say “Amen” to your thanksgiving? They do not know what you are saying!
17 നീ നന്നായി സ്തോത്രം അർപ്പിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരിക്കാം, എന്നാൽ മറ്റാർക്കും ആത്മികോന്നതി ഉണ്ടാകുന്നില്ല.
Your thanksgiving may be excellent, but the other is not helped by it.
18 ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെല്ലാവരെക്കാളും അധികമായി അജ്ഞാതഭാഷകളിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു കൊണ്ട് ദൈവത്തിനു സ്തോത്രംചെയ്യുന്നു.
Thank God, I use the gift of “tongues” more than any of you.
19 എന്നാൽ സഭയിൽ പതിനായിരം വാക്കുകൾ അജ്ഞാതഭാഷയിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ, മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ഉപദേശിക്കാനായി ബുദ്ധികൊണ്ട് അഞ്ചു വാക്കു സംസാരിക്കാൻ ഞാൻ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു.
But at a meeting of the church I would rather speak five words with my mind, and so teach others, than ten thousand words when using the gift of “tongues.”
20 സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, ശിശുക്കളെപ്പോലെയല്ലാ ചിന്തിക്കേണ്ടത്. തിന്മയ്ക്ക് ശിശുക്കളും ചിന്തയിൽ മുതിർന്നവരും ആയിരിക്കുക.
My friends, do not show yourselves children in understanding. In wickedness be infants, but in understanding show yourselves adults.
21 ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽ ഇങ്ങനെ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു: “ഇതരഭാഷക്കാരിലൂടെയും വിദേശികളുടെ അധരങ്ങളിലൂടെയും ഞാൻ ഈ ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിക്കും, എങ്കിലും അവർ എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കുകയില്ല, എന്ന് കർത്താവ് അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.”
It is said in the Law – “In strange tongues and by the lips of strangers will I speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.”
22 അങ്ങനെ അജ്ഞാതഭാഷകൾ വിശ്വാസികൾക്കല്ല, അവിശ്വാസികൾക്കാണ് ചിഹ്നമായിരിക്കുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ പ്രവചനവരം അവിശ്വാസികൾക്കല്ല, വിശ്വാസികൾക്കുവേണ്ടിയുള്ളതാണ്.
Therefore the gift of the “tongues” is intended as a sign, not for those who believe in Christ, but for those who do not, while the gift of preaching is intended as a sign, not for those who do not believe in Christ, but for those who do.
23 അതുകൊണ്ട് സഭമുഴുവനും സമ്മേളിക്കുമ്പോൾ എല്ലാവരും അജ്ഞാതഭാഷകളിൽ സംസാരിച്ചാൽ, അന്വേഷകരോ അവിശ്വാസികളോ അകത്തു വന്നാൽ, നിങ്ങൾക്കു ചിത്തഭ്രമം പിടിപെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നെന്ന് അവർ പറയുകയില്ലേ?
So, when the whole church meets, if all present use the gift of “tongues,” and some people who are without the gift, or who are unbelievers, come in, will not they say that you are mad?
24 എന്നാൽ എല്ലാവരും പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഒരു അവിശ്വാസിയോ ഒരു അന്വേഷകനോ അകത്തു വന്നാൽ, അയാൾക്ക് എല്ലാറ്റിനാലും പാപബോധമുണ്ടായിട്ട്, അയാൾ സ്വയം പരിശോധനാവിധേയനാകും;
While, if all those present use the gift of preaching, and an unbeliever, or someone without the gift, comes in, they are convinced of their sinfulness by them all, they are called to account by them all;
25 അയാളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ രഹസ്യങ്ങളും വെളിപ്പെടും; അയാൾ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണ്, “വാസ്തവമായി നിങ്ങളുടെ മധ്യത്തിൽ ദൈവം ഉണ്ട്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ദൈവത്തെ ആരാധിക്കും.
the secrets of their heart are revealed, and then, throwing themselves on their face, they will worship God, and declare “God is indeed among you!”
26 സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, അപ്പോൾ എന്താണു സാരാംശം? നിങ്ങൾ സമ്മേളിക്കുമ്പോൾ, ഒരാൾ കീർത്തനം ആലപിക്കുന്നു, മറ്റൊരാൾ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു, ഒരാൾ ദൈവികവെളിപ്പാടു പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു, ഒരാൾ അജ്ഞാതഭാഷയിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു, മറ്റൊരാൾ അതു വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കുന്നു. എല്ലാം ആത്മികോന്നതിക്ക് ഉപകരിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
What do I suggest, then, friends? Whenever you meet for worship, each of you comes, either with a hymn, or a lesson, or a revelation, or the gift of “tongues,” or the interpretation of them; let everything be directed to the building up of faith.
27 അജ്ഞാതഭാഷയിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ രണ്ടുപേരോ, കൂടിയാൽ മൂന്നുപേരോ സംസാരിക്കട്ടെ. അവർ ഓരോരുത്തരായി സംസാരിക്കുകയും ഒരാൾ വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കുകയും വേണം.
If any of you use the gift of “tongues,” not more than two, or at the most three, should do so – each speaking in his turn – and someone should interpret them.
28 വ്യാഖ്യാതാവ് ഇല്ലാത്തപക്ഷം അജ്ഞാതഭാഷ സംസാരിക്കുന്നയാൾ സഭയിൽ മൗനമായിരുന്ന്, തന്നോടുതന്നെയും ദൈവത്തോടും സംസാരിക്കട്ടെ.
If there is no one able to interpret what is said, they should remain silent at the meeting of the church, and speak to themselves and to God.
29 രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ പ്രവാചകർ സംസാരിക്കുകയും, മറ്റുള്ളവർ അവരുടെ വാക്കുകളെക്കുറിച്ച് പരിചിന്തനം ചെയ്യുകയും വേണം.
Of preachers two or three should speak, and the rest should weigh well what is said.
30 ഉപവിഷ്ടരിൽ ഒരാൾക്ക് ഒരു വെളിപ്പാടു ലഭിച്ചാൽ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നയാൾ അപ്പോൾ സംസാരം നിർത്തണം.
But, if some revelation is made to another person as he sits there, the first speaker should stop.
31 എല്ലാവർക്കും പഠനവും പ്രോത്സാഹനവും ലഭിക്കത്തക്കവിധം ഓരോരുത്തരായി നിങ്ങൾക്കെല്ലാം പ്രവചിക്കാവുന്നതാണ്.
For you can all preach in turn, so that all may learn some lesson and all receive encouragement.
32 പ്രവചനാത്മാവ് പ്രവാചകരുടെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിന് അധീനമാണ്.
(The spirit that moves the preachers is within the preachers’ control;
33 ദൈവം അലങ്കോലത്തിന്റെ ദൈവമല്ല, സമാധാനത്തിന്റെ ദൈവമാണ്. വിശുദ്ധരുടെ സകലസഭകളിലും എന്നപോലെ,
for God is not a God of disorder, but of peace.) This custom prevails in all the churches of Christ’s people.
34 സ്ത്രീകൾ സഭായോഗങ്ങളിൽ നിശ്ശബ്ദരായിരിക്കണം. ന്യായപ്രമാണം അനുശാസിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, അവർ കീഴ്പ്പെട്ടിരിക്കണം, സംസാരിക്കാൻ അവരെ അനുവദിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.
At the meetings of the church married women should remain silent, for they are not allowed to speak in public; they should take a subordinate place, as the Law itself directs.
35 എന്തെങ്കിലും പഠിക്കാൻ അവർ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ, ഭവനത്തിൽവെച്ചു സ്വന്തഭർത്താക്കന്മാരോടു ചോദിക്കട്ടെ; സ്ത്രീ സഭയിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നത് ലജ്ജാകരമാണ്.
If they want information on any point, they should ask their husbands about it at home; for it is unbecoming for a married woman to speak at a meeting of the church.
36 ദൈവവചനത്തിന്റെ ഉദ്ഭവം നിങ്ങളിൽനിന്നാണോ? അഥവാ, അത് എത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളത് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽവരെമാത്രമോ?
What! Did God’s message to the world originate with you? Or did it find its way to none but you?
37 ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നോ ആത്മികകൃപാദാനങ്ങൾ ലഭിച്ചവനെന്നോ ആരെങ്കിലും സ്വയം കരുതുന്നെങ്കിൽ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഈ എഴുതുന്നത് കർത്താവിന്റെ കൽപ്പനയാണെന്ന് അയാൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കിക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ.
If anyone thinks that he has the gift of preaching or any other spiritual gift, he should recognise that what I am now saying to you is a command from the Lord.
38 അയാൾ ഇത് അവഗണിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അയാളും അവഗണിക്കപ്പെടും.
Anyone who ignores it may be ignored.
39 ആകയാൽ സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, പ്രവചനദാനം അഭിലഷിക്കുക, അജ്ഞാതഭാഷകളിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു തടയുകയുമരുത്.
Therefore, my friends, strive for the gift of preaching, and yet do not forbid speaking in “tongues.”
40 എല്ലാം യോഗ്യമായും വ്യവസ്ഥിതമായും നിർവഹിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ.
Let everything be done in a proper and orderly manner.
