1 Teo te nitroatse ami’ty fitaloha’e an-toetse zay t’Iesoà le hoe ty nanoa’ ty mpiama’e: O Rañandria, añohò anay ty hiloloke manahake ty naô’ i Jaona o mpiana’eo.
When he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.”
2 Le hoe re am’ iereo: Naho miloloke nahareo, anò ty hoe: O Aba, Havaheñe abey ty tahina’o; Hitotsak’ abey ty fifehea’o,
He said to them, “When you pray, say, ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
3 Azotsò lomoñandro ty mahakama mahatsàk’ anay.
Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 Le adono o hakeo’aio, Fa apo’ay ka ty tahi’ ze anaña’ay hakeo. Le ko minday anay mb’am-panjiziañe,
Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”
5 Le nitovoña’e ty hoe: Ia ama’ areo ro aman-drañetse miheo mb’ ama’e vakimiraleñe mihalaly ty hoe: O koahe, ampitsepaho mofo telo,
He said to them, “Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight and tell him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,
6 fa pok’ amako ao aniany ty rañeko amy lia’ey vaho tsy eo ty hafahako aze?
for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,’
7 Le hanoiñe ty hoe i añ’anjombay: Ko mañembets’ ahy, fa migabeñe o lalañeo, naho miharo fandreañe amako o keleìakoo, vaho tsy mahafitroatse raho hañomeako azo ndra inoñe.
and he from within will answer and say, ‘Do not bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give it to you’?
8 Itaroñako te, ndra t’ie tsy hiongake hañomey ty amy firañetañey, i hatsotseha’ey ty hiongaha’e hañomey ze hene paia’e.
I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.
9 Aa le hoe ty volako ama’areo: mihalalia, le ho meañe; mitsoeha le ho tendreke, mañonkòña le ho sokafeñe.
“I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.
10 Fa ze mihalaly mahazo, ze mikodebe mahatendreke vaho ze mañonkòñe ro sokafañe.
For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.
11 Aa naho mangatake mofo ama’ iaia ama’areo roae ty ana’e, ho tolora’e vato hao? ke angataha’e fiañe, ho tolora’e mereñe hao hasolo’ i fiañey?
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?
12 He ihalalia’e atoly, ho sozoa’e kalengo hao?
Or if he asks for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he?
13 Aa ndra t’ie raty ro maha­fañome raha soa amo keleia’ areoo, mentsake te hatolon-dRae’areo an-dikerañe ao amy ze mihalaly ama’e i Arofo Masiñey.
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”
14 Rinoa’e ty kokolampa moañe le ie nifaok’ añe i angatsey, nisaontsy i moañey vaho nilatsa i lahialeñey.
He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the multitudes marveled.
15 Aa hoe ty asa’ o ila’eo: I belzeboba, talè’ o kokolampao ro androaha’e koko­lampa.
But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”
16 Ty ila’e ka, nipay viloñe ama’e boak’ andindìñe ao hanjiziañ’ aze.
Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven.
17 Aa kanao niarofoana’ Iesoà ty vetsevetse’ iareo, le nanoa’e ty hoe: Hangoakoake ze fifeheañe mifañito; le hikoromake ze anjomba mifañavake.
But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. A house divided against itself falls.
18 Aa lehe mizara i mpañìnjey, hanao akore ty hijadoña’ i fifehea’ey? ie atao’ areo te i belzeboba ro añariako koko­lampa.
If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.
19 Aa naho i belzeboba ty androahako kokolampa, ia ka ty androaha’ o ana’ areoo ty a iareo? Ie ro hizaka anahareo.
But if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.
20 Aa naho ty rambo-pitàn’ Añahare ro androahako kokolampa, le fa tendrek’ ama’areo i Fifehean’ Añaharey.
But if I by God’s finger cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come to you.
21 Ie ambena’ ty fanalolahy vory fialiañe ty akiba’e, le hanintsiñe o vara’eo.
“When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe.
22 Fa ie iambotraha’ ty maozatse te ama’e, mahagiok’ aze, le hene ho tavane’e o fialiañe niatoa’eo vaho ho zarae’e o finao’eo.
But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his plunder.
23 Manjehatse ahy ze tsy ­mitraok’ amako; le mampiparaitake ze tsy mindre manontoñe amako.
“He who is not with me is against me. He who does not gather with me scatters.
24 Ie miakatse am’ ondatio ty koko­lampa, manalio mb’an-tane tsi-an-drano mipay ty hitofà’e, fe tsy manjò le manao ty hoe: himpoliako i traño niboahakoy.
The unclean spirit, when he has gone out of the man, passes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will turn back to my house from which I came out.’
25 Ie avy ao, zoe’e pinioke vaho soa hamiñe.
When he returns, he finds it swept and put in order.
26 Aa le miavotse re minday koko­lampa fito raty te ama’e, le mitsa­moake manozìtse ao; raty te amy nifotora’ey ty higadoña’ indatiy.
Then he goes and takes seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first.”
27 Ie mbe nisaontsy, le nampipoña-peo ty rakemba amy lahialeñey, nanao ty hoe ama’e: Haha ty fisafoañe nivesatse azo naho o fatroa ninonoa’oo.
It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!”
28 Hoe ty natoi’e: Lombolombo’ ty haha ze mijanjiñe ty tsaran’ Añahare vaho mañambeñe aze.
But he said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”
29 Ie niha-famoeboetse eo i màroy le hoe re: Lo-tsereke ty tariratse mipay viloñe toy, fe tsy eo ty viloñe hatolotse naho tsy ty vilo’ i Jonà,
When the multitudes were gathering together to him, he began to say, “This is an evil generation. It seeks after a sign. No sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
30 fa hambañe ami’ty naha-viloñe amo nte-Niniveo t’i Jonà, i Ana’ondatiy ami’ ty tariratse toy.
For even as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so the Son of Man will also be to this generation.
31 Hiongake amy fizakañe ty tariratse toiy i mpanjaka-ampela atimoy handrabioñe aze, fa niboak’añ’ olon-tane añe re hitsen­dreñe ty hihi’ i Solomona; fe hehe te lombolombo’ i Solomona ty etoy.
The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation and will condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here.
32 Hindre hiongak’ ami’ty tariratse toy amy andron-jakay t’i Ninive hañinje aze amy t’ie nisoloho amy koi-dava’ i Jonày; fe zoke’ i Jonà ty etoañe.
The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, one greater than Jonah is here.
33 Tsy eo ty nandrehetse jiro, ze mbore hampikafitse aze ndra hampikolopok’ aze ami’ty tsikotòke, fa hapo’e ambone’ fasian-jiro ey, ho isa’ ze mimoak’ ao i hazavàñey.
“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light.
34 Failom-pañova ty fihaino, ie vantañe ty fihaino’o le lifo-kazavàñe ty sandri’o, fa naho mengoke, le mimoromoroñe iaby ty sandri’o.
The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness.
35 Aa le mitaoa, he maieñe ty zava ama’o ao.
Therefore see whether the light that is in you is not darkness.
36 Ie amy zao, naho lifo-kazavàñe ty sandri’o naho tsy maieñe ty ao, le ho lifo-kazavañe, manahake ty añazavam-pailo azo amy fireandrea’ey.
If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light.”
37 Ie mbe nisaontsy, le nañambara aze ty Fariseo, hikama; aa le nizilik’ ao re, nidegañe am-pandambaña eo.
Now as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him. He went in and sat at the table.
38 Fe nilatsa’ i Farise­oy naho nioni’e t’ie tsy nanasa hey aolo’ te nikama.
When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed himself before dinner.
39 Aa le hoe t’i Talè tama’e: Hehe ty fanoe’ areo Fariseo, liove’ areo ty voho’ o fitovio naho o fingao, fe miboboke tity naho haloloañe ty an-trok’ ao.
The Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.
40 Ry gege bey! Tsy i nanao ty voho’ey hao ty nanao i am-po’aoy?
You foolish ones, did not he who made the outside make the inside also?
41 Hàmake te anoloran-ko falalàñe o ama’areoo, le ho kila halio ty ama’areo.
But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you.
42 Hankàñe ama’areo Fariseo! fa ampahafoloe’ areo ty sakaviro naho ty sakay vaho ze karaza añañe; fe rioña’ areo ty hatò naho ty fikokoan’ Añahare; mbe ho nanoe’areo irezay, fe tsy ho nado’areo ka ty ila’e.
But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, but you bypass justice and God’s love. You ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.
43 Hankàñe ama’areo ­Fariseo! Tea’ areo ty fiambesatse aolo am-pitontonañe ao naho ty añonta­nea’ ondaty an-tsena ey,
Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces.
44 Hankàñe ama’ areo fa manahak’ o kibory tsy amam-pamantarañeo, ie lia­lià’ ondaty avao kanao tsy fohiñe.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like hidden graves, and the men who walk over them do not know it.”
45 Tinoi’ ty mpahay lily ty hoe: O Talè, mañinje anay ka ‘n-Iheo amy saontsi’oy.
One of the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying this you insult us also.”
46 Hoe ty natoi’e: Hekoheko ama’ areo mpahay Hake ka! Amy te ampijinie’areo kilankañe midogìñe t’indaty, le ndra ty anakiky tsy apao’ areo amy kilankañey.
He said, “Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens that are difficult to carry, and you yourselves will not even lift one finger to help carry those burdens.
47 Hankàñe ama’areo! fa amboara’ areo kibory o mpitoky vinonon-droae’ areoo.
Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
48 Toe iantofa’ areo ty satan-droae’ areo, ie ro toe namono, naho inahareo ro namboatse o kibori’eo.
So you testify and consent to the works of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their tombs.
49 Izay ty nataon’ Añahare ty hoe ami’ty hilala’e, Hañitrifako Mpitoky naho Firàheñe, ho vonoeñe ty ila’e vaho hanilofeñe ty ila’e.
Therefore also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute,
50 Aa le hampañavahañe ami’ty tariratse toy ty lio’ o mpitoky naorikori’e faha’ ty fifotora’ ty voatse toio,
that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation,
51 mifototse ami’ty lio’ i Abela pak’ ami’ ty lio’ i Zakaria vinono añivo’ i kitreliy naho ty Anjomban’ Añahare eo. Eka! Itaroñako te hampañavahañe ami’ty tariratse toy izay.
from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation.
52 Hankàñe ama’areo mpahay lily! Tinava’areo ty lahin-dakilen-kihitse. Tsy nimoaha’areo, fe sebañe’ areo ze mañaly lalañe hizilik’ ao.
Woe to you lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.”
53 Ie nanao zay, le nanoe’ o mpanoki-dilio naho o Fariseoo tsi­kony naho nimanea’ iereo ontane,
As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him,
54 nandiñe hitsepake aze amy ze hiakatse am-palie’e.
lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.
