1 Ary Kora, zanak’ i Jizara, zanak’ i Kehata, zanak’ i Levy, ary Datana sy Abìrama, zanak’ i Eliaba, sy Ona, zanak’ i Peleta, izay samy taranak’ i Robena, dia nandrendri-bahoaka,
Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took [men]:
2 ka nitsangana teo anatrehan’ i Mosesy izy ireo sy ny Zanak’ Isiraely dimam-polo amby roan-jato, izay samy lohan’ ny fiangonana avokoa, dia olona voafidin’ ny fiangonana sady nanan-daza;
and they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the congregation, called to the assembly, men of renown;
3 koa niangona hiodina amin’ i Mosesy sy Arona ireo ka nanao taminy hoe: Aoka izay ianareo! fa masìna avokoa ny fiangonana rehetra, sady Jehovah no eo aminy; koa nahoana no dia manandra-tena ho ambonin’ ny fiangonan’ i Jehovah ianareo?
and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and Jehovah is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the assembly of Jehovah?
4 Ary raha nandre izany Mosesy, dia niankohoka izy
And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:
5 ka niteny tamin’ i Kora sy ny namany rehetra nanao hoe: Rahampitso dia hasehon’ i Jehovah izay Azy sy izay masìna ka hampanakekeny Azy; dia izay fidiny no hampanakekeny Azy.
and he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, In the morning Jehovah will show who are his, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he shall choose will he cause to come near unto him.
6 Izao no ataovy, ry Kora sy ianareo namany rehetra: Makà fitondran’ afo ho anareo rahampitso.
This do: take you censers, Korah, and all his company;
7 dia asio afo eo anatiny ka asio ditin-kazo manitra eo aminy eo anatrehan’ i Jehovah; ary ny lehilahy izay fidin’ i Jehovah, dia izy no ho masìna; fa aoka izay ianareo, ry taranak’ i Levy!
and put fire in them, and put incense upon them before Jehovah to-morrow: and it shall be that the man whom Jehovah doth choose, he [shall be] holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
8 Dia hoy koa Mosesy tamin’ i Kora: Henoy, ry taranak’ i Levy:
And Moses said unto Korah, Hear now, ye sons of Levi:
9 Moa ataonareo ho zavatra kely va ny nampisarahan’ Andriamanitry ny Isiraely anareo tamin’ ny fiangonan’ ny Isiraely hitondrany anareo ho akaiky Azy, hanaovanareo ny fanompoam-pivavahana momba ny tabernakelin’ i Jehovah sy hitoeranareo eo anatrehan’ ny fiangonana hanompo azy?
[seemeth it but] a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of Jehovah, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them;
10 Dia napanakekeny Azy ianao sy ny rahalahinao taranak’ i Levy rehetra miaraka aminao, ary mitady ho mpisorona koa va ianareo?
and that he hath brought thee near, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee? and seek ye the priesthood also?
11 Ary noho izany ianao sy ny namanao rehetra dia tafangona hiodina amin’ i Jehovah; fa Arona moa no inona, no imonomononanareo?
Therefore thou and all thy company are gathered together against Jehovah: and Aaron, what is he that ye murmur against him?
12 Ary Mosesy naniraka nampaka an’ i Datana sy Abìrama, zanak’ i Eliaba; fa hoy izy roa lahy: Tsy hiakatra izahay.
And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; and they said, We will not come up:
13 Moa zavatra kely va ny nitondranao anay niakatra niala tany amin’ izay tany tondra-dronono sy tantely hahafaty anay atỳ an-efitra, no dia manao anao ho lehibenay koa ianao?
is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but thou must needs make thyself also a prince over us?
14 Ary koa, ianao tsy nitondra anay ho any amin’ izay tany tondra-dronono sy tantely tsinona, na nanome anay saha sy tanim-boaloboka ho fanananay; hopotsirinao va ny mason’ ireto lehilahy ireto? Tsy hiakatra izahay.
Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.
15 Dia tezitra indrindra Mosesy ka nanao tamin’ i Jehovah hoe: Aza mijery ny fanatiny akory Hianao; tsy naka na dia boriky iray akory aza taminy aho, ary tsy nanisy ratsy na dia tamin’ ny anankiray aminy akory aza.
And Moses was very wroth, and said unto Jehovah, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.
16 Dia hoy Mosesy tamin’ i Kora: Aoka ianao sy ny namanao rehetra ho tonga eo anatrehan’ i Jehovah rahampitso, dia ianao sy ireo ary Arona.
And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before Jehovah, thou, and they, and Aaron, to-morrow:
17 Ary samia maka ny fitondrana fony avy ianareo rehetra, ka asio ditin-kazo manitra eo anatiny, ary samia mitondra ny fitondran’ afony avy ianareo rehetra ho eo anatrehan’ i Jehovah, dia fitondran’ afo dimam-polo amby roan-jato; dia ianao sy Arona samy hitondra ny fitondran’ afony avy.
and take ye every man his censer, and put incense upon them, and bring ye before Jehovah every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each his censer.
18 Ary samy naka ny fitondran’ afony avy izy rehetra ka nanisy afo teo anatiny, dia nanisy ditin-kazo manitra teo anatiny; ary nijanona teo anoloan’ ny varavaran’ ny trano-lay fihaonana izy mbamin’ i Mosesy sy Arona.
And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood at the door of the tent of meeting with Moses and Aaron.
19 Ary Kora nanangona ny namany rehetra ho eo anoloan’ ny varavaran’ ny trano-lay fihaonana hanohitra azy roa lahy; dia niseho tamin’ ny fiangonana rehetra ny voninahitr’ i Jehovah.
And Korah assembled all the congregation against them unto the door of the tent of meeting: and the glory of Jehovah appeared unto all the congregation.
20 Ary Jehovah niteny tamin’ i Mosesy sy Arona ka nanao hoe:
And Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
21 Mihataha amin’ ity fiangonana ity ianareo handringanako azy amin’ ny indray mipi-maso monja.
Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
22 Dia niankohoka izy roa lahy ka nanao hoe: Andriamanitra ô, Andriamanitry ny fanahin’ ny nofo rehetra, olona iray no nanota, ka ho tezitra amin’ ny fiangonana rehetra va Hianao?
And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
23 Ary Jehovah niteny tamin’ i Mosesy ka nanao hoe:
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
24 Mitenena amin’ ny fiangonana, ka lazao hoe: Mihataha tsy hanodidina ny lain’ i Kora sy Datana ary Abìrama.
Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
25 Dia nitsangana Mosesy ka nankeo amin’ i Datana sy Abìrama; ary nanaraka azy ny loholon’ ny Isiraely.
And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.
26 Dia niteny tamin’ ny fiangonana izy ka nanao hoe: Mialà amin’ ny lain’ ireo olon-dratsy ireo, ka aza mikasika izay azy akory, fandrao haringana koa ianareo noho ny fahotany rehetra.
And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
27 Dia nihataka ny olona mba tsy ho eo akaikin’ ny lain’ i Kora sy Datana ary Abìrama; ary Datana sy Abìrama nivoaka ka nijanona teo anoloan’ ny varavaran’ ny lainy mbamin’ ny vadiny sy ny zananilahy ary ny zanany madinika.
So they gat them up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little ones.
28 Dia hoy Mosesy: Izao no hahafantaranareo fa Jehovah no naniraka ahy hanao ireny asa rehetra ireny, fa tsy avy tamin’ ny saiko izany:
And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that Jehovah hath sent me to do all these works; for [I have] not [done them] of mine own mind.
29 Raha maty toy ny fahafatin’ ny olona rehetra ireo olona ireo, na valiana araka ny famaliana ny olona rehetra izy, dia tsy Jehovah no naniraka ahy.
If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then Jehovah hath not sent me.
30 Fa raha hanao zavatra vaovao kosa Jehovah, ka hisokatra ny tany ary hitelina azy mbamin’ izay azy rehetra, ka ho latsaka velona any amin’ ny fiainan-tsi-hita’ izy, dia ho fantatrareo fa efa nandà an’ i Jehovah ireo lehilahy ireo. (Sheol h7585)
But if Jehovah make a new thing, and the ground open its mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down alive into Sheol; then ye shall understand that these men have despised Jehovah. (Sheol h7585)
31 Ary rehefa tapitra voalazany izany teny rehetra izany, dia nivava ny tany izay teo ambaniny;
And it came to pass, as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them;
32 eny, nisokatra ny tany ka nitelina azy sy ny ankohonany mbamin’ ny olona rehetra izay an’ i Kora ary ny fananany rehetra.
and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
33 Dia latsaka velona ho any amin’ ny fiainan-tsi-hita izy mbamin’ izay azy rehetra; ary ny tany dia nikatona taminy, ka fongotra tsy ho amin’ ny fiangonana intsony izy. (Sheol h7585)
So they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into Sheol: and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the assembly. (Sheol h7585)
34 Ary ny Isiraely rehetra izay nanodidina azy dia nandositra noho ny fidradradradrany; fa hoy izy: Andrao hitelina antsika koa ny tany.
And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them; for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up.
35 Ary nisy afo nivoaka avy tamin’ i Jehovah ka nandevona ny lehilahy dimam-polo amby roan-jato izay nanatitra ditin-kazo manitra.
And fire came forth from Jehovah, and devoured the two hundred and fifty men that offered the incense.
36 Ary Jehovah niteny tamin’ i Mosesy ka nanao hoe:
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
37 Mitenena amin’ i Eleazara, zanak’ i Arona mpisorona, mba hotsimponiny eo anatin’ ny may ny fitondran’ afo, ary ny afo dia aelezo lavitra; fa masìna ireny;
Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are holy,
38 ary ny fitondran’ afon’ ireo mpanota nanimba tena ireo dia aoka hatao takelaka manify hapetaka amin’ ny alitara; fa nateriny teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah ireny ka masìna; ary ho famantarana ho an’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely ireny.
even the censers of these sinners against their own lives; and let them be made beaten plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before Jehovah; therefore they are holy; and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
39 Ary nalain’ i Eleazara mpisorona ny fitondran’ afo varahina, izay efa nanateran’ ireo olona may ireo, ka nofisahiny ho takelaka hapetaka amin’ ny alitara
And Eleazar the priest took the brazen censers, which they that were burnt had offered; and they beat them out for a covering of the altar,
40 ho fahatsiarovana ho an’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely mba tsy hisy olon-kafa afa-tsy ny taranak’ i Arona ihany no hahazo manakaiky handoro ditin-kazo manitra eo anatrehan’ i Jehovah; fandrao ho tahaka an’ i Kora sy ny namany izy, dia araka ny tenin’ i Jehovah izay nampitondrainy an’ i Mosesy.
to be a memorial unto the children of Israel, to the end that no stranger, that is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to burn incense before Jehovah; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as Jehovah spake unto him by Moses.
41 Ary nony ampitso dia nimonomonona tamin’ i Mosey sy Arona ny fiangonana, dia ny Zanak’ Isiraely rehetra, ka nanao hoe: Hianareo efa nahafaty ny olon’ i Jehovah.
But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of Jehovah.
42 Ary raha niangona hanome tsiny an’ i Mosesy sy Arona ny fiangonana, dia nijery ny trano-lay fihaonana izy, ka, indro, nanarona azy ny rahona, ary niseho ny voninahitr’ i Jehovah.
And it came to pass, when the congregation was assembled against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tent of meeting: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of Jehovah appeared.
43 Ary Mosesy sy Arona dia nankeo anoloan’ ny trano-lay fihaonana.
And Moses and Aaron came to the front of the tent of meeting.
44 Ary Jehovah niteny tamin’ i Mosesy ka nanao hoe:
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
45 Mialà amin’ io fiangonana io handringanako azy amin’ ny indray mipi-maso monja. Dia niankohoka izy roa lahy.
Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.
46 Ary hoy Mosesy tamin’ i Arona: Alao ny fitondran’ afo, ka asio afo avy eo ambonin’ ny alitara izy, dia asio ditin-kazo manitra, ka ento faingana eo amin’ ny fiangonana, ka manaova fanavotana ho azy; fa efa mivoaka avy tamin’ i Jehovah ny fahatezerana, ary efa miantomboka ny areti-mandringana.
And Moses said unto Aaron, Take thy censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and lay incense thereon, and carry it quickly unto the congregation, and make atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from Jehovah; the plague is begun.
47 Dia nalain’ i Arona izany, araka izay nandidian’ i Mosesy, ka nihazakazaka ho eo afovoan’ ny fiangonana izy; ary, indro, efa niantomboka teo amin’ ny olona ny areti-mandringana; ary nandoro ny ditin-kazo manitra teo izy ka nanao fanavotana ho an’ ny olona.
And Aaron took as Moses spake, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on the incense, and made atonement for the people.
48 Dia nijanona teo anelanelan’ ny maty sy ny velona izy, ka dia nitsahatra ny areti-mandringana.
And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
49 Ary izay efa matin’ ny areti-mandringana dia fiton-jato amby efatra arivo sy iray alina, afa-tsy izay efa maty noho ny amin’ i Kora.
Now they that died by the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, besides them that died about the matter of Korah.
50 Ary Arona niverina ho eo amin’ i Mosesy teo anoloan’ ny varavaran’ ny trano-lay fihaonana; ary ny areti-mandringana dia nitsahatra.
And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tent of meeting: and the plague was stayed.
