< Hagay 1 >

1 Tamin’ ny andro voalohany tamin’ ny volana fahenina tamin’ ny taona faharoa nanjakan’ i Dariosa mpanjaka no nahatongavan’ ny tenin’ i Jehovah nentin’ i Hagay mpaminany tamin’ i Zerobabela, zanak’ i Sealtiela, governora tany Joda, sy tamin’ i Josoa, zanak’ i Jozadaka, mpisoronabe, nanao hoe:
In the second year of Darius the king, on the first day of the sixth month, this message from the Lord came through Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest:
2 Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro: Ity firenena ity nanao hoe: Tsy mbola tonga ny andro tokony hihaviana hanaovana ny tranon’ i Jehovah.
The Lord of hosts says: The people say that the time has not yet come to rebuild the temple of the Lord.
3 Dia tonga ny tenin’ i Jehovah nentin’ i Hagay mpaminany nanao hoe:
Then this message from the Lord came to Haggai the prophet:
4 Moa andro tokony hitoeran’ ny tenanareo ao amin’ ny tranonareo misy valin-drihana va izao, kanefa rava ity trano ity?
Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your own well-roofed houses, while this temple lies in ruins?
5 Koa izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro: Hevero ny lalanareo.
The Lord of hosts says: Consider your past experiences.
6 Efa namafy be ianareo, nefa kely no taomina: mihinana ianareo, nefa tsy voky; misotro ianareo, nefa tsy afa-po; mitafy ianareo, nefa tsy misy mafana; ary izay mahazo karama dia mahazo karama hatao an-kitapo loaka.
You sow much, but bring in little; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but are not filled; you clothe yourselves, but not enough to be warm; and those who earn wages, put those wages in a bag with holes.
7 Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro: Hevero ny lalanareo.
The Lord of hosts says: Consider your experiences.
8 Miakara any an-tendrombohitra, ka makà hazo, ary ataovy ny trano, dia hankasitrahako izany, sady hankalazaina Aho, hoy Jehovah.
Go up to the mountains, and bring wood and rebuild the temple; then I will be pleased with it, and I will reveal my glory. The Lord says:
9 Nanampo be ianareo, kanjo indro, kely monja; ary nony notaominareo, dia notsofiko. Nahoana? hoy Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro. Satria efa rava ny tranoko, nefa ianareo samy mihazakazaka hanao ny tranonareo avy.
You looked for much, and it came to little; and when you brought the harvest home, I blew it away. Why? The Lord of hosts says: Because my temple lies in ruins, while you shelter in your own houses.
10 Ary noho izany dia ny aminareo no nitsaharan’ ny lanitra tsy hampilatsaka ando sy nitsaharan’ ny tany tsy hahavokatra.
The heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit,
11 Ary niantso ny fahamainana Aho hamely ny tany sy ny tendrombohitra sy ny vary sy ny ranom-boaloboka sy ny diloilo sy izay vokatry ny tany ary ny olona sy ny biby fiompy mbamin’ izay rehetra efa nisasaran’ ny tanana.
and I have called forth a drought upon the land and upon the mountains, and upon the grain and the new wine and the oil and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon people and animals, and upon all the labor of your hands.
12 Ary Zerobabela, zanak’ i Sealtiela, sy Josoa, zanak’ i Jozadaka, mpisoronabe, mbamin’ ny sisa rehetra amin’ ny vahoaka, dia nihaino ny feon’ i Jehovah Andriamaniny sy ny tenin’ i Hagay mpaminany, araka ny nanirahan’ i Jehovah Andriamaniny azy, ary natahotra teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah ny olona.
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high priest, with all the rest of the people, obeyed the command of the Lord their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him to them. They showed proper respect for the Lord.
13 Ary nambaran’ i Hagay, irak’ i Jehovah, ny teny nampitondrain’ i Jehovah ho amin’ ny olona nanao hoe: Izaho no momba anareo, hoy Jehovah.
Haggai, the prophet of the Lord, as the Lord commanded him, told the people: ‘The Lord says: I am with you.’
14 Dia notairin’ i Jehovah ny fanahin’ i Zerobabela, zanak’ i Sealtiela, governora any Joda, sy ny fanahin’ i Josoa, zanak’ i Jozadaka mpisoronabe, sy ny fanahin’ ny sisa rehetra amin’ ny vahoaka; ary dia avy izy ka nandrafitra ny tranon’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro, Andriamaniny,
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people, so that they came and worked on the temple of the Lord of hosts, their God,
15 tamin’ ny andro fahefatra amby roa-polo tamin’ ny volana fahenina tamin’ ny taona faharoa nanjakan’ i Dariosa.
in the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month. In the second year of Darius the king,
