1 “Omanyi ebiro embuzi z’oku nsozi mwe zizaalira? Oba oyinza okumanya empeewo we ziwakira?
[Say] if you know the time of the bringing forth of the wild goats of the rock, and [if] you have marked the calving of the hinds:
2 Oyinza okubala emyezi gye zimala zizaale? Omanyi obudde mwe zizaalira?
and [if] you has have numbered the full months of their being with young, and [if] you have relieved their pangs:
3 Zikutama ne zizaala abaana baazo, ne ziwona obulumi bw’okuzaala.
and have reared their young without fear; and will you loosen their pangs?
4 Abaana baazo bakula ne bagejjera ku ttale, batambula ne bagenda obutadda.
Their young will break forth; they will be multiplied with offspring: [their young] will go forth, and will not return to them.
5 “Ani eyaleka entulege okwetambulira mu ddembe lyayo? Ani eyasumulula emiguwa gyayo,
And who is he that sent forth the wild ass free? and who loosed his bands?
6 gye nawa ensi ey’omuddo okuba amaka gaayo, n’ensi ey’omunnyo okubeerangamu?
whereas I made his habitation the wilderness, and the salt land his coverts.
7 Esekerera oluyoogaano lw’ekibuga, tewuliriza kulekaana kw’abavuzi ba bidduka.
He laughs to scorn the multitude of the city, and hears not the chiding of the tax-gatherer.
8 Ebuna ensozi, ly’eddundiro lyayo, ng’enoonya ekintu kyonna ekibisi.
He will survey the mountains [as] his pasture, and he seeks after every green thing.
9 “Embogo eyinza okukkiriza okuba omuweereza wo, n’esula ekiro mu kisibo kyo?
And will the unicorn be willing to serve you, or to lie down at your manger?
10 Oyinza okugisiba ku muguwa n’ogirimisa olubimbi? Eyinza okukuvaako emabega ng’erima mu kiwonvu.
And will you bind his yoke with thongs, or will he plow furrows for you in the plain?
11 Oyinza okugyesiga olw’amaanyi gaayo amangi? Oyinza okugirekera emirimu gyo egy’amaanyi?
And do you trust him, because his strength is great? and will you commit your works to him?
12 Oyinza okugyesiga okukuleetera emmere yo ey’empeke, oba okukuleetera eŋŋaano mu gguuliro lyo?
And will you believe that he will return to you your seed, and bring [it] in [to] your threshing floor?
13 “Ebiwaawaatiro bya maaya bisanyusa nga byewujja, naye ebiwaawaatiro n’ebyoya bya kalooli tebiraga kisa.
The peacock has a beautiful wing: if the stork and the ostrich conceive, [it is worthy of notice],
14 Kubanga emaaya ebiika amagi gaayo ku ttaka, n’egaleka ne gabugumira mu musenyu,
for [the ostrich] will leave her eggs in the ground, and warm them on the dust,
15 ne yeerabira nti, ekigere kisobola okugaasa, era nga ensolo ey’omu nsiko eyinza okugalinnya.
and has forgotten that the foot will scatter them, and the wild beasts of the field trample them.
16 Obwana bwayo ebuyisa bubi ng’obutali bwayo gy’obeera nti, yazaalira bwereere.
She has hardened [herself] against her young ones, as though [she bereaved] not herself: she labors in vain without fear.
17 Kubanga Katonda teyagiwa magezi wadde okutegeera.
For God has withholden wisdom from her, and not given her a portion in understanding.
18 Ate bw’eyanjuluza ebiwaawaatiro byayo edduke esoomooza embalaasi n’omugoba waayo.
In her season she will lift herself on high; she will scorn the horse and his rider.
19 “Embalaasi ggwe ogiwa amaanyi, oba ggwe oyambaza ensingo yaayo obwoya obwewumba?
Hast you invested the horse with strength, and clothed his neck with terror?
20 Ggwe ogisobozesa okubuuka ng’enzige n’ekanga n’okukaaba kwayo okw’entiisa?
And have you clad him in perfect armor, and made his breast glorious with courage?
21 Etakula ettaka mu kiwonvu, nga yeeyagala olw’amaanyi gaayo, n’eryoka efuluma okusisinkana abalwanyi abakutte ebyokulwanyisa.
He paws exulting in the plain, and goes forth in strength into the plain.
22 Esekerera okutya, n’eteba na kigitiisa. Ekitala tekigitiisa kugizza mabega.
He laughs to scorn a king as he meets him, and will by no means turn back from the sword.
23 Omufuko ogujjudde obusaale gwesuukundira ku lubuto lwayo, awamu n’effumu erimasamasa, n’akasaale.
The bow and sword resound against him; and [his] rage will swallow up the ground:
24 Mu busungu obungi emira ettaka, tesobola kusigala mu kifo kimu ng’ekkondeere livuze.
and he will not believe until the trumpet sounds.
25 Ekkondeere bwe livuga n’egamba nti, ‘Awo!’ N’ewunyiriza olutalo olukyali ewala, n’ewulira n’okuleekaana kwa baduumizi b’amaggye.
And when the trumpet sounds, he says, Aha! and afar off he smells the war with prancing and neighing.
26 “Amagezi go ge gabuusa kamunye, n’ayanjuluza ebiwaawaatiro bye e bukiikaddyo?
And does the hawk remain steady by your wisdom, having spread out her wings unmoved, looking toward the region of the south?
27 Ggwe olagira empungu okubuukira ewala mu bbanga, era n’ezimba n’ekisu kyayo waggulu ennyo?
And does the eagle rise at your command, and the vulture remain sitting over his nest,
28 Ku lwazi kw’ezimba amaka gaayo ekiro n’esula okwo, ku lwazi olunywevu olutabetentebwa.
on a crag of a rock, and in a secret [place]?
29 Eyo gy’ekettera omuyiggo gw’eneerya, eriiso lyayo ligulengerera wala.
Thence he seeks food, his eyes observe from far.
30 Obwana bwayo bunywa omusaayi, era awali emirambo w’ebeera.”
And his young ones roll themselves in blood, and wherever the carcasses may be, immediately they are found.
