Exodus 40
1 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens:
The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
2 Mense primo, prima die mensis, eriges tabernaculum testimonii,
"On the first day of the first month you shall raise up the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.
3 et pones in eo arcam, dimittesque ante illam velum:
You shall put the ark of the testimony in it, and you shall veil the ark with the curtain.
4 et illata mensa, pones super eam quae rite praecepta sunt. Candelabrum stabit cum lucernis suis,
You shall bring in the table, and set in order the things that are on it. You shall bring in the menorah, and light its lamps.
5 et altare aureum in quo adoletur incensum, coram arca testimonii. Tentorium in introitu tabernaculi testimonii pones,
You shall set the golden altar for incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the screen of the door to the tabernacle.
6 et ante illud altare holocausti:
You shall set the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.
7 labrum inter altare et tabernaculum, quod implebis aqua.
You shall set the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and shall put water in it.
8 Circumdabisque atrium tentoriis, et ingressum eius.
You shall set up the court around it, and hang up the screen of the gate of the court.
9 Et assumpto unctionis oleo unges tabernaculum cum vasis suis, ut sanctificentur:
You shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is in it, and shall make it holy, and all its furniture: and it will be holy.
10 altare holocausti et omnia vasa eius:
You shall anoint the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and sanctify the altar: and the altar will be most holy.
11 labrum cum basi sua: omnia unctionis oleo consecrabis, ut sint Sancta sanctorum.
You shall anoint the basin and its base, and sanctify it.
12 Applicabisque Aaron et filios eius ad fores tabernaculi testimonii, et lotos aqua
You shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and shall wash them with water.
You shall put on Aaron the holy garments; and you shall anoint him, and sanctify him, that he may minister to me in the office of cohen.
You shall bring his sons, and put coats on them.
15 indues sanctis vestibus, ut ministrent mihi, et unctio eorum in sacerdotium sempiternum proficiat.
You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to me in the office of cohen. Their anointing shall be to them for an everlasting office of cohen throughout their generations."
16 Fecitque Moyses omnia quae praeceperat Dominus.
Moses did so. According to all that the LORD commanded him, so he did.
17 Igitur mense primo anni secundi, prima die mensis, collocatum est tabernaculum.
It happened in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was set up.
18 Erexitque Moyses illud, et posuit tabulas ac bases et vectes, statuitque columnas,
And Moses erected the tabernacle, and put its sockets in place, and set up its hooks and its boards, and put in its bars, and he erected its pillars.
19 et expandit tectum super tabernaculum, imposito desuper operimento, sicut Dominus imperaverat.
He spread the covering over the tent, and put the roof of the tabernacle above on it, as the LORD commanded Moses.
20 Posuit et testimonium in arca, subditis infra vectibus, et oraculum desuper.
He took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the poles on the ark, and put the mercy seat above on the ark.
21 Cumque intulisset arcam in tabernaculum, appendit ante eam velum ut expleret Domini iussionem.
He brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the curtain as the screen, and concealed the ark of the testimony, as the LORD commanded Moses.
22 Posuit et mensam in tabernaculo testimonii ad plagam Septentrionalem extra velum,
He put the table in the Tent of Meeting, on the side of the tabernacle northward, outside of the veil.
23 ordinatis coram propositionis panibus, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
He set the bread in order on it before the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.
24 Posuit et candelabrum in tabernaculo testimonii e regione mensae in parte australi,
He put the menorah in the Tent of Meeting, opposite the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.
25 locatis per ordinem lucernis, iuxta praeceptum Domini.
He lit the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.
26 Posuit et altare aureum sub tecto testimonii contra velum,
He put the golden altar in the Tent of Meeting before the veil;
27 et adolevit super eo incensum aromatum, sicut iusserat Dominus Moysi.
and he burnt incense of sweet spices on it, as the LORD commanded Moses.
28 Posuit et tentorium in introitu tabernaculi testimonii,
He put up the screen of the door to the tabernacle.
29 et altare holocausti in vestibulo testimonii, offerens in eo holocaustum, et sacrificia, ut Dominus imperaverat.
He set the altar of burnt offering at the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting, and offered on it the burnt offering and the meal offering, as the LORD commanded Moses.
30 Labrum quoque statuit inter tabernaculum testimonii et altare, implens illud aqua.
He set the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water in it, with which to wash.
31 Laveruntque Moyses et Aaron, ac filii eius manus suas et pedes,
Moses, Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and their feet there.
32 cum ingrederentur tectum foederis, et accederent ad altare, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
When they went into the Tent of Meeting, and when they came near to the altar, they washed, as the LORD commanded Moses.
33 Erexit et atrium per gyrum tabernaculi et altaris, ducto in introitu eius tentorio. Postquam omnia perfecta sunt,
He raised up the court around the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Moses finished the work.
34 operuit nubes tabernaculum testimonii, et gloria Domini implevit illud.
Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
35 Nec poterat Moyses ingredi tectum foederis, nube operiente omnia, et maiestate Domini coruscante, quia cuncta nubes operuerat.
Moses wasn't able to enter into the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud stayed on it, and the LORD's glory filled the tabernacle.
36 Si quando nubes tabernaculum deserebat, proficiscebantur filii Israel per turmas suas:
When the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward, throughout all their journeys;
37 si pendebat desuper, manebant in eodem loco.
but if the cloud wasn't taken up, then they did not travel until the day that it was taken up.
38 Nubes quippe Domini incubabat per diem tabernaculo, et ignis in nocte, videntibus cunctis populis Israel per cunctas mansiones suas.
For the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
