1 Nunciatum est autem Ioab quod rex fleret et lugeret filium suum:
And it was told to Joab here! the king [is] weeping and he mourned on Absalom.
2 et versa est victoria in luctum in die illa omni populo: audivit enim populus in die illa dici: Dolet rex super filio suo.
And it became the deliverance on the day that mourning for all the people for it heard the people on the day that saying he is grieved the king on son his.
3 Et declinavit populus in die illa ingredi civitatem, quomodo declinare solet populus versus et fugiens de praelio.
And it acted stealthily the people on the day that to enter the city just as it acts stealthily people who are ashamed when flee they in battle.
4 Porro rex operuit caput suum, et clamabat voce magna: Fili mi Absalom, Absalom fili mi.
And the king he covered face his and he cried out the king a voice great O son my Absalom Absalom son my son my.
5 Ingressus ergo Ioab ad regem in domum, dixit: Confudisti hodie vultus omnium servorum tuorum, qui salvam fecerunt animam tuam, et animam filiorum tuorum, et filiarum tuarum, et animam uxorum tuarum, et animam concubinarum tuarum.
And he went Joab to the king the house and he said you have put to shame this day [the] faces of all servants your who rescued life your this day and [the] life of sons your and daughters your and [the] life of wives your and [the] life of concubines your.
6 Diligis odientes te, et odio habes diligentes te: et ostendisti hodie quia non curas de ducibus tuis, et de servis tuis: et vere cognovi modo, quia si Absalom viveret, et omnes nos occubuissemus, tunc placeret tibi.
By loving [those who] hate you and by hating [those who] love you that - you have made known this day that not [are] to you commanders and servants that - I know this day that (if *QK) Absalom [were] alive and all of us this day [were] dead that then [it would be] right in eyes your.
7 Nunc igitur surge, et procede, et alloquens satisfac servis tuis: iuro enim tibi per Dominum, quod si non exieris, ne unus quidem remansurus sit tecum nocte hac: et peius erit hoc tibi, quam omnia mala, quae venerunt super te ab adolescentia tua usque in praesens.
And therefore arise go out and speak to [the] heart of servants your for by Yahweh I swear that not you [are] coming out if he will lodge a man with you this night and it will be bad for you this more than all the harm which it has come on you since youth your until now.
8 Surrexit ergo rex et sedit in porta: et omni populo nunciatum est quod rex sederet in porta: venitque universa multitudo coram rege: Israel autem fugit in tabernacula sua.
And he arose the king and he sat in the gate and to all the people people told saying here! the king [is] sitting in the gate and it came all the people before the king and Israel it had fled each to tents his.
9 Omnis quoque populus certabat in cunctis tribubus Israel, dicens: Rex liberavit nos de manu inimicorum nostrorum, ipse salvavit nos de manu Philisthinorum: et nunc fugit de terra propter Absalom.
And it was all the people quarrelling in all [the] tribes of Israel saying the king he delivered us - from [the] hand of enemies our and he he rescued us from [the] hand of [the] Philistines and now he has fled from the land from with Absalom.
10 Absalom autem, quem unximus super nos, mortuus est in bello: usquequo siletis, et non reducitis regem? Et consilium totius Israel venit ad regem.
And Absalom whom we anointed over us he has died in the battle and therefore why? [are] you keeping silent to bring back the king.
11 Rex vero David misit ad Sadoc et Abiathar sacerdotes, dicens: Loquimini ad maiores natu Iuda, dicentes: Cur venitis novissimi ad reducendum regem in domum suam? (Sermo autem omnis Israel pervenerat ad regem in domo eius.) quia dixerat rex: Haec dicetis ad populum Iuda:
And the king David he sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests saying speak to [the] elders of Judah saying why? will you be [the] last [people] to bring back the king to house his and [the] word of all Israel it had come to the king to house his.
12 Fratres mei vos, os meum, et caro mea vos, quare novissimi reducitis regem?

13 Et Amasae dicite: Nonne os meum, et caro mea es? Haec faciat mihi Deus, et haec addat, si non magister militiae fueris coram me omni tempore pro Ioab.
And to Amasa you will say ¿ not bone my and flesh my [are] you thus may he do to me God and thus may he add if not commander of [the] army you will be before me all the days in place of Joab.
14 Et inclinavit cor omnium virorum Iuda, quasi viri unius: miseruntque ad regem, dicentes: Revertere tu, et omnes servi tui.
And he turned [the] heart of every man of Judah like a man one and they sent to the king return you and all servants your.
15 Et reversus est rex: et venit usque ad Iordanem, et omnis Iuda venit usque in Galgalam ut occurreret regi, et traduceret eum Iordanem.
And he returned the king and he came to the Jordan and Judah it came Gilgal towards to go to meet the king to bring over the king the Jordan.
16 Festinavit autem Semei filius Gera filii Iemini de Bahurim, et descendit cum viris Iuda in occursum regis David
And he hurried Shimei [the] son of Gera [the] Ben-jaminite who [was] from Bahurim and he came down with [the] man of Judah to meet the king David.
17 cum mille viris de Beniamin, et Siba puer de domo Saul: et quindecim filii eius, ac viginti servi erant cum eo: et irrumpentes Iordanem, ante regem
And one thousand man [were] with him of Benjamin and Ziba [the] servant of [the] house of Saul and five teen sons his and twenty servants his [were] with him and they rushed ahead the Jordan before the king.
18 transierunt vada, ut traducerent domum regis, et facerent iuxta iussionem eius: Semei autem filius Gera prostratus coram rege, cum iam transisset Iordanem,
And it passed over the ford to bring over [the] household of the king and to do the good (in eyes his *QK) and Shimei [the] son of Gera he fell before the king when passed he in the Jordan.
19 dixit ad eum: Ne reputes mihi domine mi iniquitatem, neque memineris iniuriarum servi tui in die qua egressus es domine mi rex de Ierusalem, neque ponas rex in corde tuo.
And he said to the king may not he reckon to me lord my guilt and may not you remember [that] which he did perversely servant your on the day when he went out lord my the king from Jerusalem to put [it] the king to heart his.
20 Agnosco enim servus tuus peccatum meum: et idcirco hodie primus veni de omni domo Ioseph, descendique in occursum domini mei regis.

21 Respondens vero Abisai filius Sarviae, dixit: Numquid pro his verbis non occidetur Semei, quia maledixit christo Domini?
And he answered Abishai [the] son of Zeruiah and he said ¿ in place of this not will he be put to death Shimei for he cursed [the] [one] anointed of Yahweh.
22 Et ait David: Quid mihi, et vobis filii Sarviae? cur efficimini mihi hodie in satan? ergone hodie interficietur vir in Israel? an ignoro hodie me factum regem super Israel?
And he said David what? [is] to me and to you O sons of Zeruiah that you will become to me this day an adversary this day will he be put to death? anyone in Israel for ¿ not do I know that this day I [am] king over Israel.
23 Et ait rex Semei: Non morieris. Iuravitque ei.
And he said the king to Shimei not you will die and he swore an oath to him the king.
24 Miphiboseth quoque filius Saul descendit in occursum regis illotis pedibus, et intonsa barba: vestesque suas non laverat a die qua egressus fuerat rex, usque ad diem reversionis eius in pace.
And Mephibosheth [the] son of Saul he went down to meet the king and not he had done feet his and not he had done moustache his and clothes his not he had washed from the day went the king until the day when he came in peace.
25 Cumque Ierusalem occurrisset regi, dixit ei rex: Quare non venisti mecum Miphiboseth?
And it was that he came Jerusalem to meet the king and he said to him the king why? not did you go with me O Mephibosheth.
26 Et respondens ait: Domine mi rex, servus meus contempsit me: dixique ei ego famulus tuus ut sterneret mihi asinum, et ascendens abirem cum rege: claudus enim sum servus tuus.
And he said O lord my the king servant my he betrayed me for he said servant your let me saddle for myself the donkey so I may ride on it so I may go with the king for [is] lame servant your.
27 Insuper et accusavit me servum tuum ad te dominum meum regem: tu autem domine mi rex, sicut angelus Dei es, fac quod placitum est tibi.
And he has slandered servant your to lord my the king and lord my the king [is] like [the] angel of God and do the good in eyes your.
28 Neque enim fuit domus patris mei, nisi morti obnoxia domino meo regi: tu autem posuisti me servum tuum inter convivas mensae tuae: quid ergo habeo iustae querelae? aut quid possum ultra vociferari ad regem?
For not it was all [the] house of father my that except men of death to lord my the king and you put servant your among [those who] eat table your and what? [is] there for me still righteousness and to cry out still to the king.
29 Ait ergo ei rex: Quid ultra loqueris? fixum est quod locutus sum: tu, et Siba dividite possessiones.

30 Responditque Miphiboseth regi: Etiam cuncta accipiat, postquam reversus est dominus meus rex pacifice in domum suam.
And he said Mephibosheth to the king also everything let him take after that he has come lord my the king in peace to house his.
31 Berzellai quoque Galaadites, descendens de Rogelim, traduxit regem Iordanem, paratus etiam ultra fluvium prosequi eum.
And Barzillai the Gileadite he had come down from Rogelim and he passed over with the king the Jordan to send off him (the Jordan. *QK)
32 Erat autem Berzellai Galaadites senex valde, id est octogenarius, et ipse praebuit alimenta regi, cum moraretur in Castris: fuit quippe vir dives nimis.
And Barzillai he was old very a son of eighty year[s] and he he had supplied the king in dwelling his in Mahanaim for [was] a man great he very.
33 Dixit itaque rex ad Berzellai: Veni mecum, ut requiescas securus mecum in Ierusalem.
And he said the king to Barzillai you pass over with me and I will supply you with me in Jerusalem.
34 Et ait Berzellai ad regem: Quot sunt dies annorum vitae meae, ut ascendam cum rege in Ierusalem?
And he said Barzillai to the king how many? [are] [the] days of [the] years of life my that I will go up with the king Jerusalem.
35 Octogenarius sum hodie: numquid vigent sensus mei ad discernendum suave, aut amarum? aut delectare potest servum tuum cibus aut potus? vel audire possum ultra vocem cantorum, atque cantatricum? quare servus tuus sit oneri domino meo regi?
[am] a son of Eighty year[s] I this day ¿ do I know - between good and evil or? will he taste servant your [that] which I will eat and [that] which I will drink or? will I hear still [the] voice of [male] singers and female singers and why? will he become servant your still a burden to lord my the king.
36 Paululum procedam famulus tuus ab Iordane tecum: non indigeo hac vicissitudine,
Like a little he will pass over servant your the Jordan with the king and why? will he reward me the king the reward this.
37 sed obsecro ut revertar servus tuus, et moriar in civitate mea, et sepeliar iuxta sepulchrum patris mei, et matris meae. Est autem servus tuus Chamaam, ipse vadat tecum, domine mi rex, et fac ei quidquid tibi bonum videtur.
Let him return please servant your so I may die in own city my near [the] grave of father my and mother my and here! - servant your Kimham let him pass over with lord my the king and do for him [that] which it is good in eyes your.
38 Dixit itaque ei rex: Mecum transeat Chamaam, et ego faciam ei quidquid tibi placuerit, et omne, quod petieris a me, impetrabis.
And he said the king with me he will pass over Kimham and I I will do for him the good in eyes your and all that you will choose on me I will do for you.
39 Cumque transisset universus populus et rex Iordanem, osculatus est rex Berzellai, et benedixit ei: et ille reversus est in locum suum.
And it passed over all the people the Jordan and the king he passed over and he kissed the king Barzillai and he blessed him and he returned to own place his.
40 Transivit ergo rex in Galgalam, et Chamaam cum eo. omnis autem populus Iuda traduxerat regem, et media tantum pars adfuerat de populo Israel.
And he passed over the king Gilgal towards and Kimhan he passed over with him and all [the] people of Judah (they brought over *QK) the king and also half of [the] people of Israel.
41 Itaque omnes viri Israel concurrentes ad regem dixerunt ei: Quare te furati sunt fratres nostri viri Iuda, et traduxerunt regem et domum eius Iordanem, omnesque viros David cum eo?
And there! every man of Israel [were] coming to the king and they said to the king why? did they steal you brothers our [the] man of Judah and they brought over the king and household his the Jordan and all [the] men of David with him.
42 Et respondit omnis vir Iuda ad viros Israel: Quia mihi propior est rex: cur irasceris super hac re? numquid comedimus aliquid ex rege, aut munera nobis data sunt?
And he answered every man of Judah to [the] man of Israel for [is] close the king to me and why? this has it burned to you on the matter this ¿ really have we eaten from the king or? really has it been taken away by us.
43 Et respondit vir Israel ad viros Iuda, et ait: Decem partibus maior ego sum apud regem, magisque ad me pertinet David quam ad te: cur fecisti mihi iniuriam, et non mihi nunciatum est priori, ut reducerem regem meum? Durius autem responderunt viri Iuda viris Israel.
And he answered [the] man of Israel [the] man of Judah and he said ten hands [belong] to me in the king and also in David I more than you and why? did you treat with contempt me and not was it word my first of me to bring back king my and it was hard [the] word of [the] man of Judah more than [the] word of [the] man of Israel.
