Psalmorum 82

1 Psalmus Asaph. Deus stetit in synagoga deorum: in medio autem deos diiudicat.

God stands in the congregation of the mighty; he judges among the gods.

2 Usquequo iudicatis iniquitatem: et facies peccatorum sumitis?

How long will all of you judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? (Selah)

3 Iudicate egeno, et pupillo: humilem, et pauperem iustificate.

Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

4 Eripite pauperem: et egenum de manu peccatoris liberate.

Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

5 Nescierunt, neque intellexerunt, in tenebris ambulant: movebuntur omnia fundamenta terræ.

They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

6 Ego dixi: Dii estis, et filii excelsi omnes.

I have said, All of you are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

7 Vos autem sicut homines moriemini: et sicut unus de principibus cadetis.

But all of you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

8 Surge Deus, iudica terram: quoniam tu hereditabis in omnibus Gentibus.

Arise, O God, judge the earth: for you shall inherit all nations.
