1 Factum est autem, cum turbæ irruerunt in eum, ut audirent verbum Dei, et ipse stabat secus stagnum Genesareth.
Now while the multitude pressed on him and heard ha D'var Elohim · the Word of God·, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret.
2 Et vidit duas naves stantes secus stagnum: piscatores autem descenderant, et lavabant retia.
He saw two boats standing by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
3 Ascendens autem in unam navim, quæ erat Simonis, rogavit eum a terra reducere pusillum. Et sedens docebat de navicula turbas.
He entered into one of the boats, which was Simeon [Hearing]’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
4 Ut cessavit autem loqui, dixit ad Simonem: Duc in altum, et laxate retia vestra in capturam.
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simeon [Hearing], “Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.”
5 Et respondens Simon, dixit illi: Præceptor, per totam noctem laborantes, nihil cepimus: in verbo autem tuo laxabo rete.
Simeon [Hearing] answered him, “Master, we worked all night, and took nothing; but at your word I will let down the net.”
6 Et cum hoc fecissent, concluserunt piscium multitudinem copiosam, rumpebatur autem rete eorum.
When they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was breaking.
7 Et annuerunt sociis, qui erant in alia navi ut venirent, et adiuvarent eos. Et venerunt, et impleverunt ambas naviculas, ita ut pene mergerentur.
They beckoned to their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. They came, and filled both boats, so that they began to sink.
8 Quod cum videret Simon Petrus, procidit ad genua Iesu, dicens: Exi a me, quia homo peccator sum, Domine.
But Simeon Peter [Hearing Rock], when he saw it, fell down at Yeshua [Salvation]'s knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord.”
9 Stupor enim circumdederat eum, et omnes, qui cum illo erant, in captura piscium, quam ceperant:
For he was amazed, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish which they had caught;
10 Similiter autem Iacobum, et Ioannem, filios Zebedæi, qui erunt socii Simonis. Et ait ad Simonem Iesus: Noli timere: ex hoc iam homines eris capiens.
and so also were James [Surplanter] and John [Yah is gracious], sons of Zebedee [Bestowed by Yah], who were partners with Simeon [Hearing]. Yeshua [Salvation] said to Simeon [Hearing], “Don’t be afraid. From now on you will be catching people alive.”
11 Et subductis ad terram navibus, relictis omnibus secuti sunt eum.
When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.
12 Et factum est, cum esset in una civitatum, et ecce vir plenus lepra, et videns Iesum, et procidens in faciem, rogavit eum, dicens: Domine, si vis, potes me mundare.
While he was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man full of tzara'at ·leprosy·. When he saw Yeshua [Salvation], he fell on his face, and begged him, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.”
13 Et extendens manum, tetigit eum dicens: Volo: Mundare. Et confestim lepra discessit ab illo.
He stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately the tzara'at ·leprosy· left him.
14 Et ipse præcepit illi ut nemini diceret: sed, Vade, ostende te sacerdoti, et offer pro emundatione tua, sicut præcepit Moyses, in testimonium illis.
He commanded him to tell no one. “Instead, as a testimony to the people, go straight to the priest and make an offer for your cleansing, as Moses [Drawn out] commanded.”
15 Perambulabat autem magis sermo de illo: et conveniebant turbæ multæ ut audirent, et curarentur ab infirmitatibus suis.
But the report concerning him spread much more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
16 Ipse autem secedebat in desertum, et orabat.
But he withdrew himself into the desert, and prayed.
17 Et factum est in una dierum, et ipse sedebat docens. Et erant Pharisæi sedentes, et legis doctores, qui venerunt ex omni castello Galilææ, et Iudææ, et Ierusalem: et virtus Domini erat ad sanandum eos.
On one of those days, he was teaching; and there were Pharisees [Separated] and Torah-Teachers sitting by, who had come out of every village of Galilee [District, Circuit], Judea [Praise], and Jerusalem [City of peace]. The power of MarYah [Master Yahweh] was with him to heal them.
18 Et ecce viri portantes in lecto hominem, qui erat paralyticus: et quærebant eum inferre, et ponere ante eum.
Behold, men brought a paralyzed man on a cot, and they sought to bring him in to lay before Yeshua [Salvation].
19 Et non invenientes qua parte illum inferrent præ turba, ascenderunt supra tectum, et per tegulas summiserunt eum cum lecto in medium ante Iesum.
Not finding a way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his cot into the middle before Yeshua [Salvation].
20 Quorum fidem ut vidit, dixit: Homo remittuntur tibi peccata tua.
Seeing their trusting faith, he said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”
21 Et cœperunt cogitare scribæ, et Pharisæi, dicentes: Quis est hic, qui loquitur blasphemias? Quis potest dimittere peccata, nisi solus Deus?
The Torah-Teachers and the Pharisees [Separated] began to reason, saying, “Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”
22 Ut cognovit autem Iesus cogitationes eorum, respondens, dixit ad illos: Quid cogitatis in cordibus vestris?
But Yeshua [Salvation], perceiving their thoughts, answered them, “Why are you reasoning so in your hearts?
23 Quid est facilius dicere: Dimittuntur tibi peccata: an dicere: Surge, et ambula?
Which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you;’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk?’
24 Ut autem sciatis quia Filius hominis habet potestatem in terra dimittendi peccata, (ait paralytico) Tibi dico, surge, tolle lectum tuum, et vade in domum tuam.
But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” (he said to the paralyzed man), “I tell you, arise, and take up your cot, and go to your house.”
25 Et confestim consurgens coram illis, tulit lectum, in quo iacebat: et abiit in domum suam, magnificans Deum.
Immediately he rose up before them, and took up that which he was laying on, and departed to his house, glorifying God.
26 Et stupor apprehendit omnes, et magnificabant Deum. Et repleti sunt timore, dicentes: Quia vidimus mirabilia hodie.
Amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God. They were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today.”
27 Et post hæc exiit, et vidit publicanum nomine Levi, sedentem ad telonium, et ait illi: Sequere me.
After these things he went out, and saw a tax collector named Levi [United with] sitting at the tax office, and said to him, “Follow me!”
28 Et relictis omnibus, surgens secutus est eum.
He left everything, and rose up and followed him.
29 Et fecit ei convivium magnum Levi in domo sua: et erat turba multa publicanorum, et aliorum, qui cum illis erant discumbentes.
Levi [United with] made a great feast for him in his house. There was a great crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them.
30 Et murmurabant Pharisæi, et scribæ eorum dicentes ad discipulos eius: Quare cum publicanis, et peccatoribus manducatis, et bibitis?
Their Torah-Teachers and the Pharisees [Separated] murmured against his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?”
31 Et respondens Iesus, dixit ad illos: Non egent qui sani sunt medico, sed qui male habent.
Yeshua [Salvation] answered them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.
32 Non veni vocare iustos, sed peccatores ad pœnitentiam.
I have not come to call the upright, but sinners to teshuvah ·complete repentance·.”
33 At illi dixerunt ad eum: Quare discipuli Ioannis ieiunant frequenter, et obsecrationes faciunt, similiter et Pharisæorum: tui autem edunt, et bibunt?
They said to him, “Why do John [Yah is gracious]’s disciples often fast and pray, likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees [Separated], but yours eat and drink?”
34 Quibus ipse ait: Numquid potestis filios sponsi, dum cum illis est sponsus, facere ieiunare?
He said to them, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
35 Venient autem dies: cum ablatus fuerit ab illis sponsus, tunc ieiunabunt in illis diebus.
But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast in those days.”
36 Dicebat autem et similitudinem ad illos: Quia nemo commissuram a novo vestimento immittit in vestimentum vetus: alioquin et novum rumpit, et veteri non convenit commissura a novo.
He also told a parable to them. “No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old garment, or else he will tear the new, and also the piece from the new will not match the old.
37 Et nemo mittit vinum novum in utres veteres: alioquin rumpet vinum novum utres, et ipsum effundetur, et utres peribunt.
No one puts new wine into old wine skins, or else the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.
38 Sed vinum novum in utres novos mittendum est, et utraque conservantur.
But new wine must be put into fresh wine skins, and both are preserved.
39 Et nemo bibens vetus, statim vult novum, dicit enim: Vetus melius est.
No man having drunk old wine immediately desires new, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
