1 Et factum est in una dierum, docente illo populum in templo, et evangelizante, convenerunt principes sacerdotum, et scribæ cum senioribus,
And it came to pass on one of the days (of those *k) when is teaching He the people in the temple and evangelising came up the (chief priests *NK+o) and the scribes with the elders
2 et aiunt dicentes ad illum: Dic nobis in qua potestate hæc facis? aut quis est qui dedit tibi hanc potestatem?
and spoke saying to Him: do tell us by what authority these things You do or who is the [one] having given to You authority this?
3 Respondens autem Jesus, dixit ad illos: Interrogabo vos et ego unum verbum. Respondete mihi:
Answering now He said to them; Will ask you I myself also I myself also (one *k) thing, and do tell Me:
4 baptismus Joannis de cælo erat, an ex hominibus?
The baptism of John from heaven was it or from men?
5 At illi cogitabant intra se, dicentes: Quia si dixerimus: De cælo, dicet: Quare ergo non credidistis illi?
And they reasoned among themselves saying that If we shall say: From heaven, He will say; Because of why (therefore *K) not did you believe in him?
6 Si autem dixerimus: Ex hominibus, plebs universa lapidabit nos: certi sunt enim Joannem prophetam esse.
If however we shall say; From men, the people (all *N+kO) will stone us; persuaded for they are John a prophet to be.
7 Et responderunt se nescire unde esset.
And they answered not to know from where.
8 Et Jesus ait illis: Neque ego dico vobis in qua potestate hæc facio.
And Jesus said to them; Neither I myself tell you by what authority these things I am doing.
9 Cœpit autem dicere ad plebem parabolam hanc: Homo plantavit vineam, et locavit eam colonis: et ipse peregre fuit multis temporibus.
He began then to the people to speak parable this: A man (certain *NK) planted a vineyard and rented it to farmers and went abroad a time long.
10 Et in tempore misit ad cultores servum, ut de fructu vineæ darent illi. Qui cæsum dimiserunt eum inanem.
And (in *k) [in the] season he sent to the farmers a servant that from the fruit of the vineyard (they will give *N+kO) to him; But the farmers sent away him having beaten [him] empty-handed.
11 Et addidit alterum servum mittere. Illi autem hunc quoque cædentes, et afficientes contumelia, dimiserunt inanem.
And he proceeded another to send a servant; but him him having beaten and having dishonored they sent away empty-handed.
12 Et addidit tertium mittere: qui et illum vulnerantes ejecerunt.
And he proceeded a third to send; They then also him having wounded they cast out.
13 Dixit autem dominus vineæ: Quid faciam? Mittam filium meum dilectum: forsitan, cum hunc viderint, verebuntur.
Said then the master of the vineyard; What shall I do? I will send the son of mine the beloved; perhaps him (having seen *K) they will respect.
14 Quem cum vidissent coloni, cogitaverunt intra se, dicentes: Hic est hæres, occidamus illum, ut nostra fiat hæreditas.
Having seen now him the farmers were reasoning among (one another *N+kO) saying; This is the heir; (come *K) let us kill him so that ours may become the inheritance.
15 Et ejectum illum extra vineam, occiderunt. Quid ergo faciet illis dominus vineæ?
And having cast forth him outside the vineyard they killed [him]. What therefore will do to them the master of the vineyard?
16 veniet, et perdet colonos istos, et dabit vineam aliis. Quo audito, dixerunt illi: Absit.
He will come and he will destroy farmers these and will give the vineyard to others. Having heard [it] then they said; Never would it be!
17 Ille autem aspiciens eos, ait: Quid est ergo hoc quod scriptum est: Lapidem quem reprobaverunt ædificantes, hic factus est in caput anguli?
But having looked at them He said; What then is that written this: [The] stone which rejected those building, this has become into [the] head of [the] corner’?
18 Omnis qui ceciderit super illum lapidem, conquassabitur: super quem autem ceciderit, comminuet illum.
Everyone falling on that [very] stone will be broken; on whomever but maybe it may fall, it will grind into powder him.
19 Et quærebant principes sacerdotum et scribæ mittere in illum manus illa hora, et timuerunt populum: cognoverunt enim quod ad ipsos dixerit similitudinem hanc.
And sought the scribes and the chief priests to lay on Him hands in that hour and they feared the people; they perceived for that against them He was speaking parable this.
20 Et observantes miserunt insidiatores, qui se justos simularent, ut caperent eum in sermone, ut traderent illum principatui, et potestati præsidis.
And having watched [Him] they sent spies feigning themselves righteous to be, that they may catch Him in talk, (in order *N+kO) to deliver Him to the rule and to the authority of the governor.
21 Et interrogaverunt eum, dicentes: Magister, scimus quia recte dicis et doces: et non accipis personam, sed viam Dei in veritate doces.
And they questioned Him saying; Teacher, we know that rightly You speak and You teach and not You receive [any] person but on the basis of truth the way of God teach.
22 Licet nobis tributum dare Cæsari, an non?
Is it lawful (for us *N+kO) to Caesar tribute to give or not?
23 Considerans autem dolum illorum, dixit ad eos: Quid me tentatis?
having perceived however of them the craftiness He said to them (why *KO) (me do you test; *K)
24 ostendite mihi denarium. Cujus habet imaginem et inscriptionem? Respondentes dixerunt ei: Cæsaris.
(do show *N+kO) Me a denarius; Of whom has it [the] image and inscription? (Those *N+KO) And they said; Caesar’s.
25 Et ait illis: Reddite ergo quæ sunt Cæsaris, Cæsari: et quæ sunt Dei, Deo.
And He said (to *no) (them; *N+kO) Therefore do give back the [things] of Caesar to Caesar and the [things] of God to God.
26 Et non potuerunt verbum ejus reprehendere coram plebe: et mirati in responso ejus, tacuerunt.
And not they were able to catch Him in (His *NK+o) declaration before the people, and having marveled at the answer of Him they became silent.
27 Accesserunt autem quidam sadducæorum, qui negant esse resurrectionem, et interrogaverunt eum,
Having approached then some of the Sadducees, the ones (denying *NK+o) a resurrection not being, they questioned Him
28 dicentes: Magister, Moyses scripsit nobis: Si frater alicujus mortuus fuerit habens uxorem, et hic sine liberis fuerit, ut accipiat eam frater ejus uxorem, et suscitet semen fratri suo.
saying; Teacher, Moses wrote to us: if anyone’s brother shall die having a wife and he childless (shall be, *N+KO) that shall take the brother of him the wife and shall raise up seed to the brother of him.
29 Septem ergo fratres erant: et primus accepit uxorem, et mortuus est sine filiis.
Seven therefore brothers there were; and the first having taken a wife died childless,
30 Et sequens accepit illam, et ipse mortuus est sine filio.
and (took *K) the second (wife and this died childless *K)
31 Et tertius accepit illam. Similiter et omnes septem, et non reliquerunt semen, et mortui sunt.
and the third took her (likewise *o) likewise then also the seven not did leave children and died.
32 Novissime omnium mortua est et mulier.
Finally (now of all *K) also the woman died.
33 In resurrectione ergo, cujus eorum erit uxor? siquidem septem habuerunt eam uxorem.
(The woman *no) therefore in the resurrection, of which of them does she become wife? For the seven had her as wife.
34 Et ait illis Jesus: Filii hujus sæculi nubunt, et traduntur ad nuptias: (aiōn g165)
And (answering *k) said to them Jesus; The sons of the age this marry and (are given in marriage, *N+kO) (aiōn g165)
35 illi vero qui digni habebuntur sæculo illo, et resurrectione ex mortuis, neque nubent, neque ducent uxores: (aiōn g165)
those however having been considered worthy of the age that [one] to obtain and of the resurrection from [the] dead neither marry nor (are given in marriage; *N+k+o) (aiōn g165)
36 neque enim ultra mori potuerunt: æquales enim angelis sunt, et filii sunt Dei, cum sint filii resurrectionis.
(neither *N+kO) for to die any more are they able, like [the] angels for they are, and sons they are of God of the resurrection sons being.
37 Quia vero resurgant mortui, et Moyses ostendit secus rubum, sicut dicit Dominum, Deum Abraham, et Deum Isaac, et Deum Jacob.
for however are raised the dead, even Moses showed at the bush when he names [the] Lord the God of Abraham and (the *k) God of Isaac and (the *k) God of Jacob.’
38 Deus autem non est mortuorum, sed vivorum: omnes enim vivunt ei.
God now not He is of [the] dead but of [the] living; all for to Him live.
39 Respondentes autem quidam scribarum, dixerunt ei: Magister, bene dixisti.
Answering now some of the scribes said; Teacher, well you have spoken.
40 Et amplius non audebant eum quidquam interrogare.
no longer no longer (then *N+kO) were they daring to ask Him no [thing].
41 Dixit autem ad illos: Quomodo dicunt Christum filium esse David?
He said then to them; How do they declare the Christ to be David's Son
42 et ipse David dicit in libro Psalmorum: Dixit Dominus Domino meo: sede a dextris meis,
(and *ko) Himself (for *no) David says in [the] book of Psalms: Said (the *ko) Lord to the Lord of me; do sit at [the] right hand of Me
43 donec ponam inimicos tuos scabellum pedum tuorum.
until when I may place the enemies of You [as] a footstool of the feet of You.
44 David ergo Dominum illum vocat: et quomodo filius ejus est?
David therefore Lord Him calls, and how of him son is He?
45 Audiente autem omni populo, dixit discipulis suis:
When are listening now all the people He said to the disciples of Him;
46 Attendite a scribis, qui volunt ambulare in stolis, et amant salutationes in foro, et primas cathedras in synagogis, et primos discubitus in conviviis,
do beware of the scribes who are desiring to walk in long robes and loving greetings in the marketplaces and first seats in the synagogues and first places in the banquets,
47 qui devorant domos viduarum, simulantes longam orationem: hi accipient damnationem majorem.
who devour the houses of widows and as a pretext at great length pray; These will receive more excessive condemnation.
