Nehemiah 13
1 Ke pacl se Ma Sap lal Moses ritiyuk nu sin mwet uh, elos rit nwe sun acn se ma fahk mu wangin mwet Ammon ku mwet Moab fah filfilla in kupasryang nu sin mwet lun God nwe tok,
On that day they read in the book of Moses in the hearing of the people; and it was found written in it that an Ammonite and a Moabite should not enter into the assembly of God forever,
2 ke sripen mwet Ammon ac mwet Moab elos tuh tia sang mongo ac kof nu sin mwet Israel ke elos illa liki Egypt, a elos moli nu sel Balaam tuh elan selngawi mwet Israel. Tusruktu God lasr El furokla selnga sac nu ke sie mwe insewowo.
because they didn’t meet the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them; however, our God turned the curse into a blessing.
3 Ke mwet Israel elos lohng ma sap se inge ke ritiyukla, elos srela mwetsac nukewa liki inmasrlolos.
It came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated all the mixed multitude from Israel.
4 Mwet tol Eliashib, su ma kunal in liyaung infukil in filma lun Tempul, el tuh kawuk nu sel Tobiah ke pacl na loes.
Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the rooms of the house of our God, being allied to Tobiah,
5 Na el fuhlela Tobiah elan orekmakin sie infukil lulap su ma na nu ke karinginyen mwe sang ke wheat ac mwe keng ac kufwen orekma lun Tempul, oayapa mwe sang nu sin mwet tol, ac sie tafu singoul ke wheat, wain, ac oil in olive ma itukyang nu sin mwet Levi, mwet on lun Tempul, ac mwet karingin mutunpot lun Tempul.
had prepared for him a great room, where before they laid the meal offerings, the frankincense, the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, the singers, and the gatekeepers; and the wave offerings for the priests.
6 Ke pacl ma inge orek uh, nga wangin Jerusalem, mweyen ke yac se aktolngoul luo ma Artaxerxes el tokosra lun Babylon, nga tuh folokla in akkalemye nu sel ma sikyak in Jerusalem. Tukun kutu len, nga siyuk sin tokosra
But in all this, I was not at Jerusalem; for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king; and after some days I asked leave of the king,
7 tuh nga in sifil folokla nu Jerusalem. Ke nga sun acn we nga tuh arulana lut ke nga konauk tuh Eliashib el fuhlela Tobiah elan orekmakin sie fukil in Tempul.
and I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing him a room in the courts of God’s house.
8 Nga kasrkusrak ac sisla ma nukewa lal Tobiah.
It grieved me severely. Therefore I threw all Tobiah’s household stuff out of the room.
9 Nga sap tuh fukil inge in aknasnasyeyukla fal nu ke oakwuk lun alu lasr, ac kufwa nukewa lun Tempul ac mwe kisa wheat ac mwe keng in sifil folokyang nu loac.
Then I commanded, and they cleansed the rooms. I brought into them the vessels of God’s house, with the meal offerings and the frankincense again.
10 Nga lohng pac lah mwet on lun Tempul ac mwet Levi saya elos som liki acn Jerusalem ac folokla nu ke ima lalos, mweyen mwet uh tia kitalos ke ma fal nu selos in moulkin.
I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them, so that the Levites and the singers, who did the work, had each fled to his field.
11 Nga mulat nu sin mwet kol lah elos fuhlela in pilesreyuk Tempul uh. Ac nga folokonma mwet Levi ac mwet on nu in Tempul, ac sap elos in sifil oru orekma kunalos.
Then I contended with the rulers, and said, “Why is God’s house forsaken?” I gathered them together, and set them in their place.
12 Na mwet Israel nukewa sifilpa mutawauk in use sie tafu singoul lalos ke wheat, wain, ac oil in olive nu infukil in filma in Tempul.
Then all Judah brought the tithe of the grain, the new wine, and the oil to the treasuries.
13 Nga sulela mwet inge in liyaung infukil in filma: Shelemiah su sie mwet tol, Zadok su sie mwet sasla ke Ma Sap, ac Pedaiah su sie mwet Levi. Hanan, wen natul Zaccur su wen natul Mattaniah, pa mwet kasru lalos. Nga etu lah nga ku in lulalfongi mwet inge in kitalik ma utukeni nu sin mwet orekma wialos ke inkanek suwohs.
I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah; for they were counted faithful, and their business was to distribute to their brothers.
14 O God luk, esam ma inge nukewa su nga oru nu ke Tempul lom, ac nu ke alu in lohm sum.
Remember me, my God, concerning this, and don’t wipe out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its observances.
15 In pacl sac nga liye mwet in acn Judah elos fut grape in wain ke len Sabbath. Ac kutu mwet uh til wheat, wain, grape, fig, ac kutu ma saya nu fin donkey natulos, ac us utyak nu Jerusalem. Na nga fahkang elos in tia kukakin kutena ma ke len Sabbath.
In those days I saw some men treading wine presses on the Sabbath in Judah, bringing in sheaves, and loading donkeys with wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of burdens which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day; and I testified against them in the day in which they sold food.
16 Oasr pac kutu mwet Tyre tuku muta Jerusalem, ac elos use ik ac kain in ma nukewa nu in siti uh in kukakin nu sin mwet lasr ke len Sabbath.
Some men of Tyre also lived there, who brought in fish and all kinds of wares, and sold on the Sabbath to the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
17 Nga mulat nu sin mwet kol lun mwet Jew ac fahk nu selos, “Liye ma koluk kowos oru ingan! Kowos akkolukyela len Sabbath!
Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, “What evil thing is this that you do, and profane the Sabbath day?
18 Pa inge sripa se oru God El kalyei mwet lowos meet ah, ac oru tuh in kunausyukla siti se inge. A kowos srakna oru tuh kasrkusrak lun God in yokelik nu fin Israel ke kowos aklusrongtenye len Sabbath.”
Didn’t your fathers do this, and didn’t our God bring all this evil on us and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”
19 Ouinge nga sapkin tuh mutunpot in siti uh in kaul ke mutaweyen len Sabbath nukewa, ke tufahna ekela na kauli ac tia sifil ikakla nwe ke safla len Sabbath. Nga filiya kutu sin mwet luk in tu sisken mutunpot, in liye tuh in wangin ma utukyak nu in siti uh ke len Sabbath.
It came to pass that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. I set some of my servants over the gates, so that no burden should be brought in on the Sabbath day.

So the merchants and sellers of all kinds of wares camped outside of Jerusalem once or twice.
21 Nga fahk nu selos, “Wangin sripa kowos in muta ingan ac soano in lenelik. Kowos fin sifil oru, nga ac lain kowos ke ku luk.” Tukun pacl sac me elos tia sifil tuku ke len Sabbath.
Then I testified against them, and said to them, “Why do you stay around the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time on, they didn’t come on the Sabbath.
22 Nga sapkin tuh mwet Levi in sifacna aknasnasyalos, ac som taran mutunpot, ac karingin tuh in akmutalyeyuk na len Sabbath. O God, esamyu pac ke ma se inge, ac moliyula ke sripen yokna lungkulang lom.
I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember me for this also, my God, and spare me according to the greatness of your loving kindness.
23 In pacl sac, nga konauk pac lah pus mukul Jew payuk nu sin mutan Ashdod, Ammon, ac Moab.
In those days I also saw the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab;
24 Tafu tulik natulos kaskaskin kas Ashdod ku kutu pac kas saya, ac nikin kas lasr uh.
and their children spoke half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.
25 Nga mulat nu selos, ac selngawelos, ac puokolos ac siki aunsifalos. Na nga oru tuh elos in fulahk Inen God tuh elos, ac tulik natulos, ac fah tia sifilpa apayuki yurin mwetsac.
I contended with them, cursed them, struck certain of them, plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons, or for yourselves.
26 Nga fahk nu selos, “Mutan sac pa pwanang koluk lal Tokosra Solomon. El fulat liki tokosra nukewa lun mutunfacl saya, ac God El lungse el ac oru tuh elan tokosra fin Israel nufon. Finne ouinge, a mutan sac uh akkolukyalla.
Didn’t Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet amongst many nations there was no king like him, and he was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless foreign women caused even him to sin.
27 Ya kut ac ukwe srikasrak lowos ac seakos God lasr, ac payuk nu sin mutan sac?”
Shall we then listen to you to do all this great evil, to trespass against our God in marrying foreign women?”
28 Joiada el wen natul Eliashib, Mwet Tol Fulat. Na sie sin wen natul Joiada el payuk sin acn natul Sanballat, sie mwet Beth Horon. Ouinge nga supwalla Joiada elan som liki Jerusalem.
One of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite; therefore I chased him from me.
29 O God, esam lah mwet inge elos akkolukye orekma fulat lun mwet tol, oayapa wulela ma kom tuh orala yurin mwet tol ac mwet Levi.
Remember them, my God, because they have defiled the priesthood and the covenant of the priesthood and of the Levites.
30 Nga aknasnasye mwet uh liki ma nukewa su tuku saya me, ac nga oakiya ma sap nu sin mwet tol ac mwet Levi, tuh kais sie selos in etu orekma kunalos.
Thus I cleansed them from all foreigners and appointed duties for the priests and for the Levites, everyone in his work;
31 Nga orala oakwuk nu ke etong ma ac orekmakinyuk nu ke mwe kisa firir in utuku ke pacl fal, oayapa tuh mwet uh in use fahko se meet ke wheat ac ke fokinsak. Esam ma inge nukewa, O God, ac akwoyeyu kac.
and for the wood offering, at appointed times, and for the first fruits. Remember me, my God, for good.
