< Matthew 13 >

1 In len sacna, Jesus el fahsr liki lohm sac ac som nu sisken lulu uh, ac muta in luti.
On that same day, after Jesus had left the house, he took his seat on the seashore;
2 Un mwet su tuku raunella uh arulana pus, ouinge el sroang nu fin oak soko ac muta fac, ac mwet uh tu finmes uh.
and such a great crowd gathered about him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the crowd stood on the beach.
3 El orekmakin kas in pupulyuk in luti nu selos ke ma puspis. El fahk, “Mwet se som in taknelik.
Then he told them many truths in parables. "Behold," he said, "the sower went forth to sow;
4 Ke el sisalik fita uh nu fin fohk uh, kutu fita uh putatla nu sisken inkanek inima uh, ac won uh tuku kangla.
and as he sowed, some seed fell by the roadside, and the birds came and ate it.
5 Kutu putatla nu yen eoteot, yen minini fohk fac. Tia paht na fita uh srunak.
Some fell on rocky ground where there was not much earth. Now because it had no depth of soil, it sprang up at once;
6 Tusruktu ke faht uh takak, sacn ma srunak uh folla ac uli, ke sripen srikla fohk nu ke oka.
but when the sun rose it was scorched, and withered away because it had no root.
7 Kutu fita uh putatla inmasrlon kokul uh, su kapak ac kupoiya sacn ma kapak we.
Some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked it.
8 A kutu fita uh putatla nu fin fohk wo, ac kapak ac isus fahko puspis: kutu pacl siofok, kutu pacl onngoul, ac kutu pacl tolngoul.”
But some fell on good soil, and bore a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
9 Ac Jesus el fahk, “Ke ma inge kowos porongo, fin oasr srewos!”
He who has ears, let him hear!"
10 Na mwet tumal lutlut elos kalukyang nu yurin Jesus ac siyuk sel, “Efu ku kom orekmakin kas in pupulyuk ke kom sramsram nu sin mwet uh?”
Now when his disciples came up to him, they said,
11 Ac Jesus el topuk ac fahk, “Etauk ke ma lukma lun Tokosrai lun kusrao uh itukot nu suwos, ac tia nu selos.
"Why do you speak to them in parables?" Jesus answered. "To you it has been granted to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; but to them it has not been granted.
12 El su oasr etauk yoro ac fah itukyang tuh in arulana yohk liki meet; a el su wangin etauk yoro, etauk srisrik su oasr yorol ac fah itukla lukel.
"For whoever holds, to him shall more be given, and he shall have abundance; but whoever does not hold, from him shall be taken away even what he holds.
13 Sripa se sis nga orekmakin kas in pupulyuk nu selos uh pa, elos liye a tiana kalem kac, ac elos lohng a tiana akilen.
"This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
14 Ouinge mwet inge elos akpwayeye kas in palu lal Isaiah, su fahk: ‘Mwet inge ac fah lohng na lohng, a tia kalem kac; Elos ac fah liye na liye, a tiana akilenak,
And in them is being fulfilled that prophecy of Isaiah which says. "Hearing you will hear and not understand; Seeing you will see and not perceive;
15 Mweyen nunak lalos uh upa, Ac elos fonosya insraclos, Ac kaliya mutalos. Funu tia ouinge mutalos lukun liye, Ac sraclos lukun lohng, Ac nunkalos lukun kalem kac, Ac elos lukun forma nu sik, Tuh nga in akkeyalosla. Ouinge God El fahk.’
For the heart of his people is made fat, Their ears are dull of hearing; Their eyes, too, have they closed, Lest some day their eyes should perceive, And their ears should hear, And their heart should understand and turn, And I should heal them.
16 “A kowos arulana insewowo, mweyen motowos liye, ac srewos lohng.
"But happy are your eyes, because they see, and your ears because they hear.
17 Pwayena nga fahk nu suwos lah mwet palu puspis ac mwet lun God puspis kena liye ma kowos liye ac lohng ma kowos lohng, a elos tiana.
"In solemn truth I tell you that many prophets and holy men have seen it not, and to hear what you are hearing, and have not heard it.
18 “Ke ma inge, kowos porongo ac lutlut ke kalmen pupulyuk ke mwet taknelik.
"Listen then, to the parable of the sower.
19 Elos su lohng pweng ke tokosrai ac tia kalem kac, elos oana fita ma putatla nu sisken inkanek inima uh. El su Koluklana el tuku ac tulakunla fita se su yoki insialos.
"Whenever any one hears the message of the kingdom, and does not understand it, the Evil One comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.
20 Ac kalmen fita ma putatla yen eoteot, ma nu selos su engan in eis pweng wo ke elos tufahna lohng.
"This is the seed sown by the wayside. And the word, and at once receives it with joy.
21 Tusruktu, tiana tili nu in elos, ke ma inge ac tiana oan paht in elos. Na mwe lokoalok ku ma upa fin tuku nu selos ke sripen pweng sac, elos sa na in fuhleak.
"But he has no root in himself; he continues for a time, but when trouble arises, or persecutions, on account of the word, at once he stumbles and falls.
22 Ac fita su putatla inmasrlon kokul uh el oana elos su lohng pweng uh, tusruktu elya lun faclu ac lungse lalos nu ke mwe kasrup uh kupoiya pweng sac, na tiana isus fahko. (aiōn g165)
"And the seed sown among thorns is he who hears the word, but the anxieties of the age and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
23 Ac fita ma yoki in fohk wo uh, elos pa mwet su lohng kas inge ac kalem kac, na elos isus fahko puspis — kutu siofok, kutu onngoul, ac kutu tolngoul.”
"But the seed sown in good soil is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit, and makes now an hundredfold, now sixty, now thirty."
24 Na Jesus el sifilpa fahk nu selos sie pac pupulyuk: “Tokosrai lun kusrao ouinge: Sie mwet el yukwiya fita wo in ima lal.
He told them another parable. "The kingdom of heaven," he said, "is like a man who sowed good seed in his field;
25 Sie fong ah ke mwet nukewa motulla, mwet lokoalok se tuku ac yukwiya mah koluk inmasrlon wheat uh, na el som.
"but while men were asleep his enemy came and sowed tares among his wheat and went away.
26 Ke sacn uh kapak ac mutawauk in sikyak fahko, na mah koluk uh sikyak pac.
"And when the blade shot up and formed the wheat-kernel, then the tares also appeared.
27 Na mwet kulansap lun leum sac tuku nu yorol ac fahk, ‘Leum se, fita wo mukena pa kom tuh yukwiya ke ima se lom ah. Na mah koluk ke ima sac tuku ya me?’
"The slaves of the owner went to him and said. "‘Was it not good seed, sir, that you sowed in your field? From whence then, do you get tares?’
28 Ac leum sac fahk, ‘Kalem lah mwet lokoalok se pa oru ma inge uh.’ Na elos siyuk sel, ‘Kom lungse kut in som fusak mah koluk uh?’
"‘It is an enemy who has done this,’ he answered. "The slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us to go and collect them?’
29 Ac el fahk, ‘Mo, mweyen kowos fin fis mah koluk uh, sahp kowos ac tuh fusak pac kutu sin sacn wo uh.
"‘No,’ he answered, ‘for fear lest while you are collecting the tares, you at the same time pull up the wheat.
30 Lela wheat ac mah koluk uh in tukenina kap nwe ke na pacl in kosrani, na nga fah fahk mwet telani uh in fusak mah koluk uh meet, loseni nu sie ac esukak. Na elos fah orani wheat uh ac filiya in lohm in filma uh.’”
"Let both grow together until harvest, and at harvest-time I will tell the reapers to first gather the tares and tie them in bundles for burning, but to bring all the wheat into my store-house.’"
31 Jesus el sifilpa fahkak nu selos sie pac pupulyuk. “Tokosrai lun kusrao ouinge: Mwet se el eis sie fiten mustard ac yukwiya in ima lal.
He set forth to them another parable, saying. "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard-seed which a man took and planted in his field.
32 Pa inge fita se ma srik oemeet, tusruktu el fin kapak el pa yohk oemeet ke sacn uh, na orala soko sak lulap, ac won yen engyeng uh tuku orala ahng lalos ke lesak uh.”
"This is indeed the smallest of seeds, but when it is grown it is greater than any herb, and becomes a tree, so that the winged things of the sky come and roost in its branches."
33 Jesus el sifilpa fahkak sie pupulyuk nu selos: “Tokosrai lun kusrao uh oana luman mwe pulol uh, ma sie mutan el sang kulamiseak ke sie pak in flao, na tok nufonna pak sac ac pulolak.”
He told them another parable. He said, "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until the whole was leavened."
34 Jesus el orekmakin kas in pululyuk in fahkak ma inge nukewa nu sin un mwet uh. El tia fahk kutena ma nu selos el fin tia orekmakin kas in pupulyuk.
Jesus told all this to the crowd in parables; indeed he never spoke to them except in parables,
35 El oru ouinge in akpwayei kas lun mwet palu su fahk, “Nga ac fah orekmakin pupulyuk ke nga sramsram nu selos; Nga fah fahkak nu selos ma su tia eteyuk oe ke orekla faclu ah me.”
in fulfilment of the word spoken by the prophet, I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things kept secret since the foundation of the world."
36 Ke Jesus el fahsr liki un mwet sac ac utyak nu in lohm uh, mwet tumal lutlut elos tuku nu yorol ac fahk, “Aketeya nu sesr lah mea kalmen pupulyuk ke mah koluk inima uh.”
After he had sent the people away and gone into the house, his disciples came to him and said, "Explain to us the parable about the weeds in the field."
37 Ac Jesus el topuk ac fahk, “Mwet taknelik fita wo sac pa Wen nutin Mwet;
"The sower of the seed," he answered, "is the Son of man;
38 ac ima sac pa faclu; ac fita wo uh pa mwet lun Tokosrai lun kusrao uh; mah koluk uh pa mwet su ma lun el su Koluklana;
"the field is the world; the good seed is the sons of the kingdom; the weeds, the sons of the Evil One.
39 ac mwet lokoalok se ma taknelik fita koluk uh pa Devil. Pacl in kosrani uh pa saflaiyen faclu, ac mwet kosrani uh pa lipufan. (aiōn g165)
"The enemy who sows the weeds is the Devil. The harvest is the end of the age. The reapers are the angels. (aiōn g165)
40 Oana ke mah koluk uh ac orekeni ac isisyak in e uh, pa inge luman ma ac sikyak ke saflaiyen faclu. (aiōn g165)
"Just as the weeds are collected together and burnt with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. (aiōn g165)
41 Wen nutin Mwet el ac fah supwalik lipufan lal tuh elos in orani mwet nukewa in Tokosrai lal su oru ma koluk, oayapa elos su kolla mwet uh in oru ma koluk.
"The son of man will send forth his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all hindrances, and whoever practises iniquity,
42 Ac elos ac fah siselosyang nu in funyu in e, yen ma elos ac fah tung, keok ac ngalis inwihselos.
"and will throw them into the fiery furnace. There will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
43 Na mwet lun God elos ac fah saromrom oana faht uh in Tokosrai lun Papa tumalos. Kowos porongo ma inge, fin oasr srewos.
"And then shall the just shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let him who has ears to hear, listen!
44 “Tokosrai lun kusrao ouinge: Sie mwet el konauk sie ma saok wikinyukla in ima se. El sifilpa afinya, ac som ac kukakunla ma lal nukewa, na el folokla ac molela ima sac.
"The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in the ground, which a man finds but buries again, and then in his joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that land.
45 “Ac Tokosrai lun kusrao ouinge pac: Sie mwet kuka el forfor ac sukok pearl saok,
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of beautiful pearls.
46 ac ke el konauk sie pearl ma arulana yohk molo, el som kitala ma lal nukewa ac molela pearl saok sac.
"When he finds one of great price, he goes and sells everything he has and buys it.
47 “Tokosrai lun kusrao ouinge pac: Kutu mwet patur elos sisla nwek lalos nu in lulu uh, ac sruokya kain ik puspis.
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was cast into the sea and gathered fish of every kind.
48 Ke nwek sac sessesla ke ik, elos amakunak nu finmes uh, ac sraclik ik uh: ik ma wo uh itukyang nu in mwe neinyuk uh, a ma koluk uh sisila.
"When it was full they hauled it upon the beach, and sat down and sorted the good fish into baskets, but threw the worthless fish away.
49 Ac fah ouinge ke safliyen faclu. Lipufan uh ac mau fahsrelik ac orani mwet koluk liki inmasrlon mwet wo, (aiōn g165)
"So will it be at the end of the age. The angels will go forth and separate the wicked from the righteous, and fling them into the furnace of fire. (aiōn g165)
50 ac siselosyang nu in e uh, yen ma elos ac fah tung ke keok ac ngalis in wihselos we.”
"There shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
51 Na Jesus el siyuk selos, “Ya kowos etu kalmen ma inge?” Ac elos topuk, “Aok.”
"Have you understood all this?" he asked. "We have," they answered him.
52 Na el fahk nu selos, “Kalmen ma inge pa mwet nukewa su mwet luti ke Ma Sap uh su ekla nu ke mwet lutlut in Tokosrai lun kusrao, elos oana sie mwet ma oasr sie lohm sel, ac el eisla ma sasu ac ma mah liki nien filma lal.”
"Then," said he, "every scribe who has been instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his storehouse new things and old."
53 Tukun Jesus el fahkak pupulyuk inge, na el som liki acn sac,
After Jesus had finished these parables, he withdrew from that place,
54 ac folokla nu in acn sel sifacna. El luti in iwen lolngok selos, ac elos su lohng luti lal elos arulana fwefela. Ac elos siyuk, “El eis ya me kain in lalmwetmet inge, ac mwenmen ma el oru inge?
and came into his own country, where he continued teaching the people in their synagogues, until they were amazed. "Where did he get such wisdom?" they said, "and such wondrous powers?
55 Ya el tia ma nutin mwet kamtu sac? Ya tia nina kial pa Mary, ac tia ma wial pa James, Joseph, Simon ac Judas?
"Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? and his brothers Jamesand Joseph and Simon and Judas?
56 Ya tamtael lal nukewa elos tia oasr pac inge? Na el eis ma inge oya me?”
"Are not his sisters all living among us? Where, then, did he get all these powers?"
57 Ke ma inge elos tiana lohang nu sel Jesus. Jesus el fahk nu selos, “Mwet palu se el akfulatyeyuk in acn nukewa sayen acn sel sifacna ac sin sou lal sifacna.”
This kept them from believing in him. Wherefore Jesus said, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and among his own family."
58 Tiana pus mwenmen el oru in acn sac mweyen wangin lulalfongi lalos.
And he did no mighty works there, because of their lack of faith.
