Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem to his mother's brothers, and spoke with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother's father, saying,

"Please speak in the ears of all the lords of Shechem, 'Is it better for you that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are seventy persons, rule over you, or that one rule over you?' Remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.'"

And his mother's brothers spoke of him in the ears of all the lords of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, "He is our brother."
4 Elos sang ipin silver itngoul liki tempul lal Baal-lun-Wuleang nu sel Abimelech, na el sang moli kutu mwet lusrongten in acn we tuh elos in welul.
They gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the house of Baal Berith, with which Abimelech hired vain and light fellows, who followed him.

He went to his father's house at Ophrah, and killed his brothers the sons of Jerubbaal, being seventy persons, on one stone. But Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself.
6 Na mwet nukewa in Shechem ac Bethmillo elos toeni ac som nu sisken sak oak mutal in acn Shechem, ac oru tuh Abimelech elan tokosra lalos.
And all the lords of Shechem assembled themselves together, and all Beth Millo, and went and made Abimelech king by the oak which is found at the pillar in Shechem.
7 Ac ke Jotham el lohng ma inge el som fanyak nu fin mangon Eol Gerizim ac wowoyak ac fahk nu selos, “Porongeyu, kowos mwet in Shechem, ac sahp God El ac fah porongekowos!
And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood on the top of Mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said to them, "Listen to me, you lords of Shechem, that God may listen to you.
8 Sie pacl ah, sak nukewa som ac suk soko sak in tuh tokosra lalos. Elos fahk nu sin sak olive, ‘Kom fah tokosra lasr.’

"The vine said to them, 'Should I leave my new wine, which cheers God and man, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?'
14 Na sak inge sifil som ac fahk nu sin kokul, ‘Fahsru tokosrala lasr.’
"Then all the trees said to the bramble, 'Come, and reign over us.'

"The bramble said to the trees, 'If in truth you anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.'
"Now therefore, if you have dealt truly and righteously, in that you have made Abimelech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done to him according to the deserving of his hands

21 Na Jotham el kaingla nu Beer ac muta we, mweyen el sangeng sel Abimelech, tamulel lal ah.
And Jotham escaped and fled and went to Beer and lived there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.

Abimelech was prince over Israel three years.
23 Na God El oru tuh mwet Shechem ac Abimelech in asrungai, na mwet Shechem elos tuyak lainul Abimelech.
And God sent a spirit of hostility between Abimelech and the lords of Shechem; and the lords of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:
24 Ma inge sikyak in akfalye ma koluk ma Abimelech ac mwet Shechem elos tuh oru nu sin wen itngoul natul Gideon ma elos uniya ah.
that the violence done to the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might come, and that their blood might be laid on Abimelech their brother, who killed them, and on the men of Shechem, who strengthened his hands to kill his brothers.
25 Mwet Shechem elos sap kutu mwet lalos in som wikla fin mangon eol uh tuh elos in sruokilya Abimelech, ac mwet inge elos pisre ma lun mwet nukewa su forfor in acn sac. Pweng ke ma inge sonol pac Abimelech.
And the lords of Shechem set an ambush for him on the tops of the mountains, and they robbed all who came along that way by them. And it was told to Abimelech.
26 Inge, Gaal wen natul Ebed, ac mwet lel elos tuku nu Shechem, ac mwet Shechem elos filiya lulalfongi lalos facl.
And Gaal the son of Ebed came with his brothers, and went over to Shechem; and the lords of Shechem put their trust in him.
27 Elos nukewa illa nu in ima uh ac eisani grape, elos orala nu ke wain, ac orek engan. Na elos utyak nu in tempul lun god lalos, ac mongo ac nimnim we ac aksruksrukel Abimelech.
They went out into the field, and gathered their vineyards, and trod the grapes, and held festival, and went into the house of their god, and did eat and drink, and cursed Abimelech.
28 Ac Gaal el fahk, “Ku kut mwet fuka in acn Shechem inge? Efu ku kut in orekma nu sel Abimelech? Ku su win el uh? Ya tia ma natul Gideon? Zebul el orekma nu sel, tusruktu efu ku kut in kulansupwal? Kowos in orekma na nu sel Hamor, mwet matu lowos su el pa sifen ota lowos uh!
Gaal the son of Ebed said, "Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? Isn't he the son of Jerubbaal, and Zebul his officer? Serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem. But why should we serve him?
29 Nga ke in nga pa kol mwet inge! Nga lukun lusulla Abimelech! Nga lukun sap elan akola mwet mweun lal ac ilme kut in mweun.”
Would that this people were under my hand. Then I would remove Abimelech. I would say to Abimelech, "Increase your army, and come out."
30 Ke Zebul, mwet kol lun siti sac, el lohng kas lal Gaal inge, el arulana kasrkusrak kac.
When Zebul the ruler of the city heard the words of Gaal the son of Ebed, his anger was kindled.
31 El supwala mwet utuk kas nu yorol Abimelech nu in Arumah ac fahk, “Gaal, wen natul Ebed, ac tamulel lal elos tuku nu Shechem ac oru eltal in tia lela kom in utyak nu in siti uh.
He sent messengers to Abimelech in Arumah, saying, "Look, Gaal the son of Ebed and his brothers have come to Shechem; and look, they constrain the city to take part against you.
32 Inge kom ac mwet lom an tuku ke fong ac wikwik in imae soano.
Now therefore, rise up by night, you and the people who are with you, and lie in wait in the field.
33 Ke lututang, ke faht uh tufahna takak, kom tuyak ac lain siti uh. Ac Gaal ac mwet lal fin illa in mweun, kom fah oneltalla nufon!”
And it shall be that in the morning, as soon as the sun is up, you shall rise early, and rush on the city. And look, when he and the people who are with him come out against you, then do whatever you can to them."
34 Na Abimelech ac mwet lal nukewa elos tuku ac wikwik sisken acn Shechem in fong ah — elos kitakatelik nu ke u akosr.
Abimelech rose up, and all the people who were with him, by night, and they lay in wait against Shechem in four companies.
35 Na ke Abimelech ac mwet lal elos liye ke Gaal el illa tu ke nien utyak nu in siti uh, Abimelech ac mwet lal elos tuyak liki acn elos wikwik we uh.
And it happened early in the morning that Gaal the son of Ebed went out, and stood in the entrance of the gate of the city. And Abimelech rose up, and the people who were with him, from the ambush.
36 Ke Gaal el liye mwet inge, el fahk nu sel Zebul, “Ngetla liye! Mwet pa tufoki fineol an me!” Zebul el fahk, “Mo, tia mwet. Lullul in eol uh pa kowos liye an.”
When Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, "Look, there are people coming down from the tops of the mountains." Zebul said to him, "You see the shadow of the mountains as if they were men."
37 Na Gaal el sifilpa fahk, “Liye, mwet pa tuku fineol an me ingan, ac sie u ah tuku ke innek soko sisken sak oak ma mwet susfa muta we ah!”
Gaal spoke again and said, "Look, there are people coming down by the central part of the land, and one company comes by the way of the Diviners' Oak."
38 Na Zebul el fahk nu sel, “Pia kusen tungak lom ah inge? Kom pa tuh fahk mu, ‘Su win Abimelech uh ku kut in orekma nu sel?’ Pa ingan mwet ma kom tuh aksruksruki ah. Fahla mweunelos.”
Then Zebul said to him, "Where is now your mouth, that you said, 'Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him?' Is not this the people that you have despised? Please go out now and fight with them."
39 Na Gaal el us mwet Shechem ac som mweunel Abimelech.
And Gaal went out before the lords of Shechem, and fought with Abimelech.
40 Abimelech el mutawauk ukwal Gaal, ac el kaing. Pukanten mwet kinet ke inkanek ah, som na nwe sun mutunpot in siti ah.
Abimelech chased him, and he fled before him, and there fell many wounded, even to the entrance of the gate of the city.
41 Abimelech el muta in acn Arumah, ac Zebul el lusulla Gaal ac tamulel lal ah liki acn Shechem, tuh elos in tia muta we.
And Abimelech returned to Arumah; and Zebul drove out Gaal and his brothers, so that they could not dwell in Shechem.
42 In len tok ah Abimelech el lohngak lah mwet Shechem inge elos pwapa in som nu in ima ah.
It happened on the next day, that the people went out into the field; and they told Abimelech.
43 Na el eis mwet lal ac kitalik nu ke u tolu, na elos wikwik in imae soano mwet ah. Ke Abimelech el liye ke mwet inge ilme liki siti uh, el tuyak liki nien wikwik uh ac onelosla.
He took the people, and divided them into three companies, and waited in ambush in the field; and he looked, and look, the people came forth out of the city. He rose up against them, and struck them.
44 Ke Abimelech ac u se lal ah yuyak in taran mutunpot in siti uh, u luo ngia elos mweuni mwet su muta in ima ah, ac onelosla nufon.
Abimelech, and the companies that were with him, rushed forward, and stood in the entrance of the gate of the city: and the two companies rushed against all who were in the field, and struck them.
45 Mweun uh orek ke len nufon sac. Abimelech el sruokya siti sac ac onela mwet we. El kunausya siti sac ac afinya fin fohk uh ke sohl.
Abimelech fought against the city all that day; and he took the city, and killed the people who were in it. And he destroyed the city, and sowed it with salt.
46 Ke mwet kol lun acn Shechem su muta ke tower lun mwet mweun ah elos lohng ke ma inge, elos suk nien wikla ku lalos ke tempul lal Baal-lun-Wuleang.
And when all the lords of the Tower of Shechem heard of it, they entered into the stronghold of the house of El Berith.
47 Ke Abimelech el lohng lah mwet inge elos wikwik in acn sac,
And it was told Abimelech that all the lords of the Tower of Shechem were gathered together.
48 na el ac mwet lal elos fanyak nu Fineol Zalmon. El eis tula soko ac pakela lesak se ac filiya finpisal, ac fahk nu sin mwet lal elos in oru oana.
So Abimelech went up to Mount Zalmon, he and all the people who were with him; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, and cut down a branch from the trees, and took it up, and laid it on his shoulder. And he said to the people who were with him, "What you have seen me do, do quickly, and do as I have done."
49 Ouinge mwet nukewa elos pakela kais sie lesak lalos ac fahsr tokol Abimelech. Elos yolsani lesak uh ke acn in wikla ku sac, ac esukak. Mwet uh mutana loac, ac elos nukewa misa — sahp oasr sie tausin mukul ac mutan we.
All the people likewise cut down his branch and followed Abimelech, and put them on the stronghold, and set the stronghold on fire on them; so that all the men of the Tower of Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.
50 Na Abimelech el som nu Thebez, kuhlusya acn we ac sruokya.
Then Abimelech went to Thebez, and camped against Thebez, and took it.
51 Oasr sie tower na ku in acn se inge, ac mwet nukewa in acn sac, mukul ac mutan ac mwet kol lalos, elos kaing nu we. Elos sifacna lakelosi ac fanyak nu fin mangon tower sac.
But there was a strong tower within the city, and all the men and women fled, and all the lords of the city, and shut themselves in, and got them up to the roof of the tower.
52 Ke Abimelech el tuku nu ke tower sac tuh elan sruokya, el kalukyang nwe ke srungul uh tuh elan esukak.
Abimelech came to the tower, and fought against it, and drew near to the door of the tower to burn it with fire.
53 Na sie mutan el sisya eot in ilil na lulap se nu fin sifal twe foklalik ahlunsifal.
A certain woman threw down an upper millstone on Abimelech's head, and broke his skull.
54 Na Abimelech el sulaklak pangonma mwet fusr se su us mwe mweun natul ah, ac fahk, “Faisak cutlass nutum an ac uniyuwi, tuh nga tia lungse mwet in fahk mu mutan se pa uniyuwi uh.” Na mukul fusr sac faksilya ke cutlass natul ah, na el misa.
Then he called quickly to the young man his armor bearer, and said to him, "Draw your sword, and kill me, that men not say of me, 'A woman killed him.'" So the young man thrust him through, and he died.
55 Ke mwet Israel elos liye lah Abimelech el misa, elos folokelik nu acn selos.
When the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed every man to his place.
56 Ouinge God El folokin nu sel Abimelech ma koluk se el tuh oru nu sin papa tumal ke el tuh uniya tamulel itngoul wial ah.
Thus God requited the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did to his father, in killing his seventy brothers;
57 Ac God El oayapa folokin ma koluk lun mwet Shechem nu faclos sifacna, fal nu ke ma Jotham, wen natul Gideon, el fahk ke el selngawelos ah.
and all the wickedness of the men of Shechem did God return on their heads, and on them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
