< Sie Samuel 18 >

1 Ke tari sramsram lal Saul ac David, na Jonathan, wen natul Saul, el mutawauk in arulana lungse David. Lungse lal Jonathan nu sel David arulana yohk, oana ke el lungse el sifacna.
It happened, when he had made an end of speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
2 Mutawauk ke len sac fahla, Saul el sap David elan mutana yorol ac tia fuhlella elan som nu yen sel ah.
Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father's house.
3 Jonathan el orala fulahk lal tuh el David ac fah kawuk nwe tok, mweyen el lungse David na pwaye.
Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
4 Jonathan el sarukla nuknuk lal ac sang nu sel David, wi nuknuk in mweun lal, ac cutlass natul, ac pisr natul, ac pel lal.
Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him, and gave it to David, and his clothing, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his sash.
5 Ma nukewa Saul el supwal David nu kac el orala ke insianaung ac wo ouiya. Ke ma inge Saul el oru tuh David elan sie mwet kol lun un mwet mweun lal, ac mwet pwapa ac mwet kulansap nukewa lal Saul elos insewowo kacl.
Then Saul set him over the men of war, and David went out, succeeding wherever Saul sent him. And it was good in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul's servants.
6 Ke David el foloko tukun el unilya Goliath, ac ke mwet mweun elos wi pac foloko nu yen selos, mutan in siti nukewa in acn Israel elos tuku in paingul Tokosra Saul. Elos engan ac on, ac elos tacn ac srital ke mwe srital tambourine ac lyre.
It happened as they came, when David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with instruments of music.
7 Kutu kas ke on in kaksak lalos an fahk ouinge, “Saul el uniya tausin, a David el uniya ngoul tausin.”
The women sang one to another as they played, and said, "Saul has slain his thousands, David his ten thousands."
8 Saul el tia lungse kas inge, ac el mutawauk in kasrkusrak. El fahk, “Mwet uh fahk mu David el uniya ngoul tausin a nga tausin na. Ac tia paht na elos ac oru David elan tokosra!”
Saul was very angry, and this saying displeased him; and he said, "They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands. What can he have more but the kingdom?"
9 In len sac me, Saul el sok ac sensen na sel David.
Saul eyed David from that day and forward.
10 In len tok ah, sie ngun koluk sin God me sifil sikyang nu sel Saul, ac el kasrkusrak ac kunaus lohm sel oana mwet wel se. David el muta srital ke harp, oana ke el muta oru len nukewa. Ac Saul el sruok osra soko inpaol.
It happened on the next day, that an evil spirit from God came mightily on Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house. David played with his hand, as he did day by day. Saul had his spear in his hand;
11 Saul el sifacna nunku insial, “Nga ac faksilya David nu ke pesinka in lohm uh.” Na el faksel David ke osra soko ah pacl luo, a David el iwalla kewa.
and Saul threw the spear; for he said, "I will pin David even to the wall." David escaped from his presence twice.
12 Saul el sangeng sel David mweyen LEUM GOD El welul David a El som lukel Saul.
Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and had departed from Saul.
13 Na Saul el supwalla David ac sapkin tuh elan mwet kol fin sie tausin mwet mweun. David el kol mwet lal inge nu ke mweun,
Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.
14 ac wo ouiyen ma nukewa el oru, mweyen LEUM GOD El welul.
David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.
15 Ke Saul el liye lah David el orala ma nukewa wo, el sifil sangeng sel yohk liki meet.
When Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he stood in awe of him.
16 Tusruktu mwet nukewa in Israel ac Judah elos lungse David ke sripen el mwet kol na wowo se.
But all Israel and Judah loved David; for he went out and came in before them.
Saul said to David, "Look, my elder daughter Merob, I will give her to you as wife. Only be valiant for me, and fight the LORD's battles." For Saul said, "Do not let my hand be on him, but let the hand of the Philistines be on him."
18 Ac David el fahk, “Ku su nga uh, ac su sou luk uh, ku nga in wen talupan tokosra?”
David said to Saul, "Who am I, and what is my life, or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?"
19 Tusruktu, ke pacl fal tuh Merab elan itukyang nu sel David, Saul el eisalang nu sin sie pacna mukul pangpang Adriel, sie mwet Meholah.
But it happened at the time when Merob, Saul's daughter, should have been given to David, that she was given to Adriel the Meholathite as wife.
20 Sie pac acn natul Saul uh pa Michal, ac el lungse David. Ke Saul el lohng, el engan kac.
Mikal, Saul's daughter, loved David; and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.
21 El sifacna fahk insial, “Nga ac eisalang Michal kial David. Nga fah oru tuh elan sie mwe kwasrip nu sel David, ac David el ac fah anwuki sin mwet Philistia.” Pa inge pacl se akluo Saul el fahk nu sel David, “Kom ac fah wen talupuk.”
And Saul thought, "I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him." Therefore Saul said to David, "You shall this day be my son-in-law a second time."
22 Ac Saul el sap mwet pwapa lal in som sramsram lukma nu sel David ac fahk nu sel, “Tokosra el insewowo sum, ac mwet pwapa nukewa elos lungse kom. Inge pacl na wo nu sum tuh kom in payukyak sin acn se natul tokosra.”
Then Saul commanded his servants, "Talk with David secretly, and say, 'Look, the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you. So now therefore be the king's son-in-law.'"
23 Na mwet inge elos fahkang kas se inge nu sel David. Ac David el topuk, “Tia ma pilasr se tuh sie mwet in payuk sin acn nutin tokosra. Sie mwet lusrongten ac sukasrup oana nga, ac tuh arulana kupansuwol.”
Saul's servants spoke those words in the ears of David. David said, "Does it seems to you a little thing to be the king's son-in-law, since I am a poor man, and insignificant?"
24 Na mwet pwapa elos tafweang kas lal David inge nu sel Saul,
The servants of Saul told him, saying, "David spoke like this."
25 ac Saul el sapkin tuh elos in fahkang nu sel David, “Pwayena ma tokosra el enenu sum in sang moli acn se natul ah, pa kulun ma lun mukul siofok ma misa lun mwet Philistia, tuh in mwe foloksak lal nu sin mwet lokoalok lal.” (Saul el oru pwapa lukma se inge tuh mwet Philistia in mau unilya David.)
Saul said, "You shall tell David, 'The king desires no dowry except one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies.'" Now Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.
26 Ke mwet pwapa lal Saul elos fahkang kas lal inge nu sel David, na David el engan lah el ac wen talupal tokosra. Meet liki len in marut,
When his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king's son-in-law. The days were not expired;
27 David el eis mwet lal som ac uniya mwet Philistia luofoko. El eisla kulun ma mukul kaclos ac usla nu yorol tokosra, ac oakla nufon ye mutal in akfalye tuh elan wen talupal. Ke ma inge, Saul el enenu na elan eisalang Michal, acn natul, tuh elan payuk sel David.
and David arose and went, he and his men, and killed of the Philistines one hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full number to the king, that he might be the king's son-in-law. Then Saul gave him Mikal his daughter as wife.
28 Saul el akilen na lah LEUM GOD El welul David, oayapa el akilen lah Michal, acn natul, el lungse David.
And Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David, and that all Israel loved him,
29 Ke ma inge, Saul el arulana sangeng sel David yohk liki meet, ac el mwet lokoalok lal David in lusen moul lal tok nufon.
then Saul was even more afraid of David. So Saul was David's enemy continually.
30 Ke un mwet mweun lun mwet Philistia elos ac tuku mweun, pacl nukewa David el ac kutangulosla yohk liki na mwet kol saya lal Saul uh. Ke sripa se inge, David el mutawauk in arulana pwengpeng.
Then the leaders of the Philistines went forth: and it happened, as often as they went forth, that David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was highly esteemed.
