< Mathayo 14 >

1 Mbe, mumwanya ogwo, Herode onguhye emisago ingulu ya Yesu. Nabhabhwila abhakosi bhae,
At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,
2 “Unu ni Yowana Omubhatija amasuluka okusoka mubhafuye. Kulwejo amanaga ganu galiingulu yae.”
and said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him."
3 Kulwokubha Herode aliga amugwatile Yowana amubhoele amwesele mulunyolo kwa injuno ya Herodia, omugasi wa Filipo omula wabho.
For Herod had arrested John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.
4 Kulwokubha Yowana amubhwiliye ati, “Jiteile okumugega omwene kubha mugasi wae.”
For John said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her."
5 Herode akamwitile nawe obhayaga abhanu kulwokubha bhamulolaga Yowana kuti mulagi.
And though he wanted to kill him, he feared the crowd because they regarded him as a prophet.
6 Nawe akatungu ko lusiku lwo kwibhulwa kwa Herode lwejile lwakinga omuyala wa Herodia abhinile agati ya bhanu namukondelesha Herode.
But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.
7 Mukusubhya alagile kwo kulaila ati kamuyana chona chona chinu alasabha.
Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.
8 Ejile amala okubhilwa na nyilamwene, naikati,”Nana anu mwikombe omutwe gwa Yohana Omubhatija.”
And she, being prompted by her mother, said, "Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist."
9 Omukama abhee no bhusulumbae kwi sabhwa lyo muyala, nawe kulwokulaila kwae, kulwokubha abhanu bhona bhanu bhaliga bhalimwilya amwi nage alagilie ati jingene jikolekane.
And the king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths, and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,
10 Atumile Yowana aletwe okusoka mulunyolo.
and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.
11 koleleki atemwe omutwe gwae guletwe ingulu ya lisinia ayanibhwe omuyala nasila kunyila mwene.
And his head was brought on a platter, and given to the young woman: and she brought it to her mother.
12 Mbeya abheigisibhwa bhae nibhaja okugugega omubhili nibhaja okugusika, bhejile bhamala elyo nibhaja okubhwila Yesu.
Then his disciples came, and took the dead body, and buried him; and they went and told Jesus.
13 Omwene Yesu ejile ongwa ago, nesumba okusoka anu bhaliga bhali nengila mubhwato nagenda olubhala lunu lwaliga luli kasugumbaju. Omwanya ogwo ebhise bhya bhanu bhejile bhamenya anu aligaalinabho, nibhamulubha nibhalibhataga kwa magulu okusoka mumusi.
Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat, to a secluded place to be alone. When the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.
14 Neya Yesu naja imbele yebhwe nalola echise cha bhanu. Nabhafwila chigongo nabhaosha amalwae gebhwe.
And he went out, and he saw a large crowd, and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick.
15 Kegolo yejile yakinga, abheigisibhwa bhae nibhamujako nibhamubhwila ati,”Linu nibhala, nolusiku lwawa. “Linyalambule elikofyanya bhagende mubhijiji bhajogula ebhilyo bhyebhwe.
Now when evening had come, the disciples came to him, saying, "This place is desolate, and the hour is already late. Send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food."
16 Nawe Yesu nabhabhwila ati, “Bhatana bhukene bho kugenda jebhwe. Mubhayane emwe ebhilyo”
But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."
17 Nibhamubhwila ati, “Anu chili ne mikate etanu na jinswi ebhili ela.””
And they told him, "We only have here five loaves and two fish."
18 Yesu naikati,”Muilete kwanye.”
So he said, "Bring them here to me."
19 Neya Yesu nalagilila echise cha bhanu bhenyanje ansi kumanyasi. Nagega emikate etanu na jinswi ebhili. Nalola ingulu mulwile, naguyana amabhando nabhega omukate nabhayana abheigisibhwa. Abheigisibhwa nibhabhayana ebhise bhya bhanu.
Then he commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the crowds.
20 Nibhalya bhona nibheguta. Nibheya nibhakumanya ebhibhutu bhye bhilyo nibhejusha matukulu ekumi na gabhili.
And they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
21 Bhanu bhaliye bhalengelelwaga bhalume bhiumbi bhitanu abhana na bhagasi bhatabhalilwe.
Now those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
22 Ao nao nabhalagilila abheigisibhwa bhae bhengile mubhwato, omwanya ogwo omwene nalaga ebhise bhya bhanu bhagende jebhwe.
And immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and to go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the crowds away.
23 Ejile amala okulaga ebhise bya bhanu okugenda jebhwe, nalinya ingulu ye chima okusabhwa wenyele. Omwanya gwejile gwakinga kegolo aliga achaliyo wenyele.
And after he had sent the crowds away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
24 Nawe obhwato anu bhaliga bhwakingile agati yo bhusibha nibhuingila ingila kulwamakonjo, kulwokubha omuyaga gwaliga gulibhutwe.
But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, battered by the waves, for the wind was against it.
25 Mumwanya gwa mungeta mubhwile bhukulu, Yesu nabhafogelela, nalibhataga ingulu ya manji.
And in the watch between three and six in the morning, he came to them, walking on the sea.
26 Omwanya gunu abheigisibhwa bhae bhejile bhamulola nalibhataga kumanji, nibhobhaya nibhaikati, “Nibhyalo,” nibhasekana kwo bhulaka bhwo bhubha.
And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost." and they screamed with fear.
27 Yesu nabhabhwila ati, “Musige kufwa mwoyo! nanye! musige kubhaya.”
But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up. It is I. Do not be afraid."
28 Petelo namusubhya naikati, “Ratabhugenyi labha nawe, mbhwila nije kwawe ingulu ya manji.”
Peter answered him and said, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters."
29 Yesu naikati, “I ja.” Kulwejo Petelo natuka mubhwato nalibhataga ingulu ya manji okuja ku Yesu.
He said, "Come." Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the water and went toward Jesus.
30 Nawe Petelo ejile alola amakonjo, nobhaya, namba okutubhila, ansi, nabhilikila kwo bhulaka naikati, Ratabhugenyi, nchungula!”
But when he saw the strong wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he yelled, saying, "Lord, save me."
31 Bhwangu Yesu nagolola okubhoko kwae namugwata Petelo, namubhwila ati, “Awe owelikisha etilu, kulwaki wabhanokwitimata?”
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
32 Niwo Yesu na Petelo nibhengila mubhwato, omuyaga niguwayo okuyemba.
When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
33 Abheigisibhwa mubhwato nibhamulamya Yesu nibhaikati,”Chimali awe uli Mwana wa Nyamuanga.”
Those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "You are truly the Son of God."
34 Bhejile bhamala okwambuka, nibhakinga muchalo cha Genesareti.
When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.
35 Abhanu mulubhala olwo bhejile bhamumenya Yesu, nibhatuma emisango bhuli lubhala lunu luli kumbali, nibhaleta bhuli unu aliga ali mwasibhwa.
When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region, and brought to him all who were sick,
36 Nibhamulembeleja koleleki bhakunyeko lipindo lyo mwenda gwae, nabhamfu bhanu bhalikutula bheuliye.
and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. And all who touched it were healed.
