1 Sauli aliga ali mu kwikilishanya ingulu yo lufu lwae. olusiku olwo nilwo ambhile okubhanyasha mu bhutasikene na likanisa linu lyaliga mu Yerusalemu; abhekilisha bhona bhanu bhanyalagene mu maanga aga mu Yudea na Samaria, atali Jitumwa.
Saul approved of his being put to death. On that very day a great persecution broke out against the Church which was in Jerusalem; and its members, with the exception of the Apostles, were all scattered over the districts of Judea and Samaria.
2 Abhanu bhanu bhaliga bhamwikilisishe Nyamuanga bhamusikile Stefano no kumukolela echalamo chinene.
Some religious men buried Stephen, with loud lamentations for him.
3 Mbe nawe Sauli nanyasha muno li kanisa. Nagenda bhuli nyumbha no kubhakwesela anja abhagasi na bhalume, no kubhesa mwibhoyelo.
But Saul began to devastate the Church; he entered house after house, dragged out men and women alike, and threw them into prison.
4 Abhekilisha bhanu bhaliga bhanyalagene bhaliga bhachasimula omusango.
Now those who were scattered in different directions went from place to place proclaiming the Good News.
5 Filipo neka mu musi gwa Samaria no kumulasha Kristo eyo.
Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and there began to preach the Christ.
6 Wejile amekofyanyisho gongwa no kulola ebhibhalikisho bhinu Filipo akolele; nibhetegelesha ingulu ya chinu aikile.
The people, one and all, listened attentively to what Philip told them, when they heard of, and saw, the miracles which he was working.
7 Okusoka ao abhanu bhafu bhanu bhonguywe, amasambhwa amajabhi ngabhasokako abhanu kenu nibhalila kwo bhulaka bhunene, na bhafu bhanu bhaliga bhafuye omubhili na bhalema nibheulisibhwa.
For there were many instances of people with foul spirits, where the spirits, with loud screams, came out of them;
8 Kwibhyo bhwabheyeo bhukondeleywe bhunene mu musi.
and many who were paralysed or lame were cured, so that there was great rejoicing throughout that city.
9 Mbe nawe aliga alio omunu umwi mu musi gulya lisina lyae Simoni, unu akolaga obhulosi; bhunu akolaga kwo kubhatang 'a ng'asha abhanu abha liyanga lya Samaria, ku mwanya gundi naika ati mwenene ni munu wa insonga.
There was staying in the city a man named Simon, who had been practicing magic there and mystifying the Samaritan people, giving himself out to be some great Being.
10 AbhaSamaria bhona okwambhila ku mutoto kukinga ku mukulu, nibhamutegelesha; nibhaika; “omunu unu ni managa ga Nyamuanga ganu gali makulu.
Every one, high and low, paid attention to him. ‘This man,’ they used to say, ‘must be that Power of God which men call “The Great Power.”’
11 nibhamungwa, kulwo kubha abhatang'ang'ashaga mwanya mulela kwo bhulosi bhwae.
And they paid attention to him because they had for a long time been mystified by his magic arts.
12 Mbe nawe mu mwanya ogwo bhejile bhekilisha ati Filipo asimuye ingulu yo bhukama bhwa Nyamuanga na kulwa Lisina Lya Yesu kristo, nibhabhatijibhwa, abhalume na bhagasi.
However, when they came to believe Philip, as he told them the Good News about the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Simoni one ekilisishe: ejile abhatijibhwa, nagendelela okubha na Filipo; ejile alola ebhibhalikisho ne bhikumisho bhinu bhyakolekaga, nalugula.
Even Simon believed, and after his baptism attached himself to Philip, and was in his turn mystified at seeing signs and great miracles constantly occurring.
14 Omwanya gunu jitumwa jaliga jili Yerusalemu jejile jongwa ati Samaria one yalamie omusango gwa nyamuanga nibhabhatuma Petro na Yohana.
When the Apostles at Jerusalem heard that the Samaritans had welcomed God’s Message, they sent Peter and John to them;
15 Mbe bhejile bheka nibhabhasabhila, nibhamulamila mwoyo mwelu.
and they, on their arrival, prayed that the Samaritans might receive the Holy Spirit.
16 okukinga ku mwanya ogwo, Mwoyo Mwelu aliga achali kubhekila na umwi webhwe, bhaliga bhabhatijibhwe-la Mwisina lya Latabugenyi Yesu.
(As yet the Spirit had not descended upon any of them; they had only been baptized into the Faith of the Lord Jesus).
17 Ao niwo Petro na Yohana nibhabhatelako amabhoko mbe niwo nibhamulamila Mwoyo Mwelu.
Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 Mu mwanya ogwo Simoni ejile alola ati Mwoyo Mwelu kasosibhwa okulabha kwo kutelwako amabhoko ga jitumwa; Nenda okubhayana Jimpilya,
When Simon saw that it was through the placing of the Apostles’ hands on them that the Spirit was given, he brought them a sum of money and said:
19 Mbe naika, “munane amanaga ganu, koleleki bhuli unu nilamutelagako amabhoko amulamile Mwoyo Mwelu.”
“Give me also this power of yours, so that, if I place my hands upon any one, he may receive the Holy Spirit.”
20 Nawe Petero namubhwila ati; Jimpilya jao amwi nawe bhije kula, kulwo kubha outoga ati echiyanwa cha Nyamuanga echibhonekana mu mpilya.
“A curse upon you and upon your money,” Peter exclaimed, “for thinking that God’s free gift can be bought with gold!
21 Utana ebhala ku musango gunu, kulwo kubha omwoyo gwao gutemile imbhele ya Nyamuanga.
You have no share or part in our Message, for your ‘heart is not right with God.’
22 kulwejo nute amabhibhi gao no kumusabhwa Nyamuanga amwi ousasilwa ameganilisho go mwoyo gwao.
Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord, that, if possible, you may be forgiven for such a thought;
23 kulwo kubha enilola uli mu bhululu bhwa indulu na mwibhoyo lye bhibhibhi.
for I see that you have fallen into the ‘bitterness of envy’ and the ‘fetters of sin.’”
24 Simoni nasubhya naika ati,”musabhile ku Latabugenyi kulwo kubha amasango gone ganu mwaika agatula okumbhona.
“Pray to the Lord for me, all of you,” Simon answered, “so that none of the things you have spoken of may befall me.”
25 Omwanya ogwo Petro na Yohana anu bhaliga nibhagubhambhalila no kusimula omusango gwa Latabugenyi, bhasubhile Yerusalemu mu njila eyo; bhasimuye omusango gwo bhwana mu misi myafu eja Bhasamaria.
Peter and John, having borne their testimony and delivered the Lord’s Message, returned to Jerusalem, telling the Good News, as they went, in many Samaritan villages.
26 Mbe malaika wa Latabugenyi naika no kumubhwila Filipo no kwaika,”imuka ulole na ugende mu malimbhe ku njila eyo eitelemukila mu Yerusalemu kwo kulolela Gaza.”(injila inu ili ibhala).
Meanwhile an angel of the Lord had said to Philip: “Set out on a journey southwards, along the road that runs down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (It is now deserted).
27 Namaga- maga okwiya nagenda. Mbe lola, aliga alio omunu wa Itiopia, omunaule omunu wo bhutulo bhafu emwalo ya kadase; omukamagasi wa abhaisiopia. Unu aliga ateyweo kubha mubhiki we bhinu bhyae bhyona; one aliga agendele Yerusalemu okulamya.
So Philip set out on a journey; and on his way he came upon an official of high rank, in the service of Candace, Queen of the Abyssinians. He was her treasurer, and had been to Jerusalem to worship,
28 Anu aliga nasubha aliga enyanjile mwigali lyae aliga nasoma echitabho cho bhulagi bhwa Isaya.
and was now on his way home, sitting in his carriage and reading the Prophet Isaiah.
29 Mwoyo naika na Filipo, “ilila ayei na ligali koleleki umililane nalyo.
The Spirit said to Philip: “Go up to the carriage yonder and keep close to it.”
30 kwibhyo Filipo nalibhata bhwangu, namungwa nasoma echitabho cho bhulagi bhwa Isaya; namubhwila ati, ougamenya ganu ousoma?”
So Philip ran up, and he heard the Abyssinian reading the Prophet Isaiah. “Do you understand what you are reading?” he asked.
31 Omuithiopia ulya naika ati,” enitula atiki ntana munu wo kutangasha?” “Namwilebheleja Filipo alinye mwigali no kwinyanja amwi nage.
“How can I,” the other answered, “unless some one will explain it to me?” and he invited Philip to get up and sit by his side.
32 Nawe oli libhala lya maandiko ganu aliga nasoma omuitiopia ulya ni linu; Atangasibhwe lwa Inyabhalega inu eigeda mwibhagilo okubhagwa na lwa kutyo inyabhalega eiba ijibhie, one atatanyishe munwa gwae.
The passage of Scripture which he was reading was this — ‘Like a sheep, he was led away to slaughter, And as a lamb is dumb in the hands of its shearer, So he refrains from opening his lips.
33 kulwo bhusulumbhae bwae indamu yae yasosibhweo: Niga unu katula okwelesha olwibhulo lwae? obhulame bhwae bhwasosibhweo ku nsi.
In his lowly condition justice was denied him. Who will tell the story of his generation? For his life is cut off from earth.’
34 Kwibhyo omunaule ulya namubhusha Filipo, no kwaika, “enikusabhwa, ni mulagi uya unu kaikililwa emisango jae, jili ku mwene nagu jili ku munu undi?
“Now,” said the Treasurer, addressing Philip, “tell me, of whom is the Prophet speaking? Of himself, or of some one else?”
35 “Filipo namba okwaika, ambhie ku musango gunu ogwa isaya okumusimulila emisango ja Yesu.
Then Philip began, and, taking this passage as his text, told him the Good News about Jesus.
36 Anu bhaliga bhali mu njila, nibhakinga ku manji omunaule naika,”lola, anu galio amanji ni chinuki chinu echiganya nisige okubhatijibhwa?”
Presently, as they were going along the road, they came to some water, and the Treasurer exclaimed: “Look! here is water; what is to prevent my being baptized?”
37 Amasango ganu, “kwibhyo omuitiopia nasubhya ati,”enikilisha ati Yesu kristo ni mwana wa Nyamuanga”, (gatalimo mu maandiko ga kala) niwo omuitiopia nalagilila ligali limelegulu.
38 Nibhaja mu manji, amwi Filipo no munaule, Filipo namubhatija.
So he ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water — both Philip and the Treasurer — and Philip baptized him.
39 Mu mwanya ogwo bhejile bhasoka mu manji, mwoyo wa Latabugenyi nigumusila kula Filipo, mbe omunaule atasubhile kumulola, nagenda njila yae asandabhile.
But, when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the Treasurer saw no more of him; for he continued his journey with a joyful heart.
40 Mbe nawe Filipo nabhonekanila Azoto. Alabhile mu musi gulya no kusimula emisango jo bhwana mu misi jone ndijei nakinga Kaisaria.
But Philip was found at Ashdod, and, as he went on his way, he told the Good News in all the towns through which he passed, till he came to Caesarea.
