ಲೂಕನು 14
1 ಯೇಸು ಒಂದು ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ, ಫರಿಸಾಯರ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನ ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಾಗ, ಎಲ್ಲರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
And it came to pass, when Jesus went into the house of one of the chief of the Pharisees, on the sabbath day, to eat bread, that they watched him.
2 ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸಾಧಾರಣವಾಗಿ ನೀರು ತುಂಬಿದ್ದ ರೋಗಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಮುಂದೆ ಇದ್ದನು.
And behold, there was a certain man before him that had the dropsy.
3 ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ನಿಯಮ ಪಂಡಿತರಿಗೂ ಫರಿಸಾಯರಿಗೂ, “ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಮಾಡುವುದು ಮೋಶೆಯ ನಿಯಮದ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೋ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರು.
And Jesus answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying: Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
4 ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಮೌನವಾಗಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದರು. ಆಗ ಯೇಸು, ಆ ರೋಗಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಮಾಡಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
But they held their peace. But he taking him, healed him, and sent him away.
5 ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರ ಮಗುವಾಗಲಿ, ಎತ್ತಾಗಲಿ ಒಂದು ಬಾವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದರೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಎಳೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರು.
And answering them, he said: Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fall into a pit, and will not immediately draw him out, on the sabbath day?
6 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡಲಾರದೆ ಇದ್ದರು.
And they could not answer him to these things.
7 ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿತರು ತಮಗಾಗಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆಂದು ಯೇಸು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಾಮ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದರು:
And he spoke a parable also to them that were invited, marking how they chose the first seats at the table, saying to them:
8 “ಯಾರಾದರೂ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದರೆ ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ನಿನಗಿಂತಲೂ ಗೌರವವುಳ್ಳ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿರಬಹುದು.
When thou art invited to a wedding, sit not down in the first place, lest perhaps one more honourable than thou be invited by him:
9 ಆಗ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವನನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿದವನು ಬಂದು ನಿನಗೆ, ‘ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳಕೊಡು,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವಾಗ ನೀನು ನಾಚಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಕಡೇ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗುವುದು.
And he that invited thee and him, come and say to thee, Give this man place: and then thou begin with shame to take the lowest place.
10 ಆದರೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಹೋಗಿ ಕಡೇ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೋ, ಆಗ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿದವನು ಬಂದು ನಿನಗೆ, ‘ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನೇ, ಉತ್ತಮ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವಾಗ ನಿನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಗೌರವವಿರುವುದು.
But when thou art invited, go, sit down in the lowest place; that when he who invited thee, cometh, he may say to thee: Friend, go up higher. Then shalt thou have glory before them that sit at table with thee.
11 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ಯಾರಾದರೂ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಾವೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರೋ ಅವರು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಲಾಗುವರು ಮತ್ತು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಾವೇ ತಗ್ಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲಾಗುವರು,” ಎಂದರು.
Because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.
12 ಯೇಸು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿದವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿದಾಗ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರ ಸಹೋದರಿಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಬಂಧುಗಳನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತರಾದ ನೆರೆಯವರನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಕರೆಯಬೇಡ, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರೂ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೂ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಬಹುದು ಮತ್ತು ನಿನಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುಪಕಾರವಾದೀತು.
And he said to him also that had invited him: When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor thy neighbours who are rich; lest perhaps they also invite thee again, and a recompense be made to thee.
13 ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ಔತಣಮಾಡಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಬಡವರನ್ನೂ ಊನವಾದವರನ್ನೂ ಕುಂಟರನ್ನೂ ಕುರುಡರನ್ನೂ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸು.
But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, and the blind;
14 ಆಗ ಅವರು ನಿನಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುಪಕಾರ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗದಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ನೀನು ಧನ್ಯನಾಗುವೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀತಿವಂತರ ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುಪಕಾರವಾಗುವುದು.”
And thou shalt be blessed, because they have not wherewith to make thee recompense: for recompense shall be made thee at the resurrection of the just.
15 ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಸಂಗಡ ಔತಣಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಊಟಮಾಡುವವನು ಧನ್ಯನು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
When one of them that sat at table with him, had heard these things, he said to him: Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
16 ಯೇಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು: “ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಔತಣ ಮಾಡಿಸಿ ಅನೇಕರನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿದನು.
But he said to him: A certain man made a great supper, and invited many.
17 ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಯವಾದಾಗ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿತರಿಗೆ ಅವನು, ‘ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
And he sent his servant at the hour of supper to say to them that were invited, that they should come, for now all things are ready.
18 “ಆದರೆ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ನೆಪ ಹೇಳಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಮೊದಲನೆಯವನು, ‘ನಾನು ಒಂದು ಹೊಲ ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ನಾನು ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ, ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಬೇಕು,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And they began all at once to make excuse. The first said to him: I have bought a farm, and I must needs go out and see it: I pray thee, hold me excused.
19 “ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನು, ‘ನಾನು ಐದು ಜೊತೆ ಎತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಬೇಕು,’ ಎಂದನು.
And another said: I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to try them: I pray thee, hold me excused.
20 “ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನು, ‘ನಾನು ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಬರಲಾರೆ,’ ಎಂದನು.
And another said: I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21 “ಆ ಸೇವಕನು ಬಂದು ತನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನಿಗೆ ಈ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಲು, ಆ ಮನೆಯಜಮಾನನು ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆ, ‘ನೀನು ಬೇಗನೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಬೀದಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಸಂದುಗಳಿಗೂ ಹೋಗಿ, ಬಡವರನ್ನೂ ಊನವಾದವರನ್ನೂ ಕುರುಡರನ್ನೂ ಕುಂಟರನ್ನೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ,’ ಎಂದನು.
And the servant returning, told these things to his lord. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant: Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the feeble, and the blind, and the lame.
22 “ಆ ಸೇವಕನು, ‘ಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ನೀನು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾಯಿತು, ಆದರೂ ಸ್ಥಳವಿದೆ,’ ಎಂದನು.
And the servant said: Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23 “ಆಗ ಯಜಮಾನನು ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆ, ‘ನೀನು ಬೀದಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಓಣಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಮನೆ ತುಂಬುವಂತೆ, ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಂಡವರನ್ನು ಬಲವಂತಮಾಡು.
And the Lord said to the servant: Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 ಆದರೆ, ಮೊದಲು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿತರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಔತಣವನ್ನು ರುಚಿ ನೋಡಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.’”
But I say unto you, that none of those men that were invited, shall taste of my supper.
25 ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜನಸಮೂಹವು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರಲು, ಯೇಸು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ:
And there went great multitudes with him. And turning, he said to them:
26 “ಯಾರಾದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ತಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆ, ತಾಯಿ, ಹೆಂಡತಿ, ಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಸಹೋದರರು, ಸಹೋದರಿಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಂತ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಸಹ ದ್ವೇಷಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವರು ನನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಾಗಲಾರರು.
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 ಯಾರಾದರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಶಿಲುಬೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸದವರು ನನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಾಗಲಾರರು.
And whosoever doth not carry his cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28 “ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು ಗೋಪುರವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಲು ಇಚ್ಛಿಸಿದರೆ. ನೀವು ಮೊದಲು ಕುಳಿತು ಅದನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಖರ್ಚು ಇದೆಯೋ ಎಂದು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
For which of you having a mind to build a tower, doth not first sit down, and reckon the charges that are necessary, whether he have wherewithal to finish it:
29 ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಹಾಗೆ ಲೆಕ್ಕಮಾಡದೆ ನೀವು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಸ್ತಿವಾರ ಹಾಕಿದ ಮೇಲೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸದಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನೋಡುವವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ, ‘ಈ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಕಟ್ಟಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ, ಮುಗಿಸಲು ಇವನಿಗೆ ಆಗಲಿಲ್ಲ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಹಾಸ್ಯಮಾಡುವರು.
Lest, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that see it begin to mock him,
Saying: This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 “ಅಥವಾ ಯಾವ ಅರಸನಾದರೂ ಬೇರೆ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಾಗ, ಮೊದಲು ಕುಳಿತು ತನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಸೈನ್ಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬರುವ ಆ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಸೈನ್ಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಎದುರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮರ್ಥವೋ ಎಂದು ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?
Or what king, about to go to make war against another king, doth not first sit down, and think whether he be able, with ten thousand, to meet him that, with twenty thousand, cometh against him?
32 ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಇನ್ನೂ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗಲೇ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಸಮಾಧಾನವನ್ನು ಕೋರುವನಲ್ಲವೇ?
Or else, whilst the other is yet afar off, sending an embassy, he desireth conditions of peace.
33 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಾದರೂ ತಮಗಿರುವುದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಅವರು ನನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಾಗಲಾರರು.
So likewise every one of you that doth not renounce all that he possesseth, cannot be my disciple.
34 “ಉಪ್ಪು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು, ಆದರೆ ಉಪ್ಪೇ ಸಪ್ಪಗಾದರೆ, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನಾವುದರಿಂದ ರುಚಿ ಬಂದೀತು?
Salt is good. But if the salt shall lose its savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
35 ಅದು ಭೂಮಿಗಾದರೂ ಗೊಬ್ಬರಕ್ಕಾದರೂ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವಿಲ್ಲ; ಅದನ್ನು ಜನರು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕುತ್ತಾರೆ. “ಕೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಿವಿಯುಳ್ಳವರು, ಕೇಳಲಿ.”
It is neither profitable for the land nor for the dunghill, but shall be cast out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
